Michigan Mentoring Month and National Mentoring Month are designed to generate a concentrated burst of national, statewide, and local media activity. Combine this with community-based activities and you have the recipe to successfully recruit new mentors.TRANSCRIPT

2010 MMM: What is it?
• Held every January.
• 9th annual opportunity to focus attention on mentoring.
• Held on a national and statewide level.
• Goals:– Raise awareness of mentoring.– Recognize current mentoring matches.– Recruit potential mentors.
2010 MMM: Themes
• Michigan’s Theme = “Pass It On.”– Tied to Mentor Michigan’s mission.
• National Theme = “Expand Your Universe. Mentor a Child.”– Changes year to year.
• Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (January 18, 2010)– Volunteer– Plan a project– Encourage service
• Thank Your Mentor Day (January 21, 2010)– Recognize – Get mentees
involved– Invite public to
make financial contributions to mentoring
