THE YEAR IN REVIEW

The CPRS accreditation program allows practitioners with five or more years of experience, who are members of CPRS, to earn an APR (Accredited in Public Relations) designation.

The purpose of the CPRS accreditation process is to assess the candidate's experience and competence in the professional practice of public relations and to recognize this achievement through the APR designation.

30 per cent of CPRS-VI members are accredited.

For more information, please contact Accreditation Chair Karla Sandwith.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORTAnge Frymire APR MBA

My goals as incoming president for 2009-10:

• COLLABORATION: To work more comprehensively with other CPRS societies. In 2007, I created the Provincial Communications Awards with Vancouver & Northern Lights Since Nov/08, I’ve been exploring other opportunities with them to increase

awareness, education and involvement

• PARTNERSHIPS: To bridge professional communications opportunities for VI members. Since April, I’ve been liaising with external similar organizations to create

professional communications opportunities Currently in discussion with IABC to consider joint ventures, such as a Speaker Series Approaching other high-profile organizations for new sponsorships

• COMMUNITY OUTREACH: To put “Vancouver Island” back into CPRS-VI. Since January, I’ve been recruiting other members outside the Victoria area I’ve recruited a Nanaimo practitioner to the Communications Committee, who will write a North

Island column in the newsletters Our best practices will be branded to engage practitioners from up island to join this society and to

consider applying for the prestigious APR designation through CPRS-VI
