Student Fest Jams!!!Scott Graves-School Director-

Do not miss out on the incredible opportunity toskyrocket your musical skills in one of our exciting Summer group programs. These fun filled classesare only offered from June through August andhave been described to us by students and parentsas the highlight of their summer events. One of our most popular Summer Programsis the Summer Jam class. Summer Jam is a lessformal version of our incredibly successful AMP’DPerformance Group program and offers students the chance to play in real bands with guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals. All SummerJam participants are invited to play an outdoorconcert with us at the Wheeler Farm amphitheateron Saturday August 16th. Summer is also a great time to focus on areasthat you may be neglecting during the course of a busy school year. Guitarists can dramatically increase their playing abilities by enrolling in oursuper popular “Guitarobics” class which gives you a taste of what the real shredders know and practice on a regular basis. We are also offering classes on:Roots of Rock (basic Rock structures, intros, endings, grooves, solos, and more); Extreme Soloing (an indepth look at creating and improvising killer leads);Rock Star’s Pro Workout (scale, arpeggio andmodal training for major and minor keys). The Groove Dr.’s are also offering some killerSummer classes on Rudiment / Stick Technique(learn basic rudiments and perfect proper sticktechnique); Groove Styles Class (Jazz Swing,Latin, Ethnic, Blues Shuffles, Funk and more!); Drum Solo Class (Explore famous drum solos, studytheir histories and learn to create your own drumsolo). For a complete description of all of our killerSummer Programs, see your registration form included with this newsletter. Students must signup by June 2nd. Classes start the week of June 9th.

Once again the On Track Music and Groove Dr.’s “Student Fest” left no doubt that our students are in a class of their own. The 2008 Student Fest was attended by thousands of enthusiastic Fest goers who witnessed an entire weekend of amazing musical performances. TheFest included two separate evening Rock Shows as well as six individual daytime jam sessions that gave our studentsthe awesome opportunity to amaze an awestruck public. The daytime Jam Sessions were all kicked off with arockin’ performance by the AMP’D Teachers Bandand were followed by a myriad of individual and group performances including solo guitar and drum pieces(performed with and without backing music), Festival Groups (groups of guitar, drum, and bass students who performed popular songs to a c.d. track), Advanced Festival Groups (former students from the Summer Jam program who performed as live bands), and Kid’s Festival Groups (younger students who performed as agroup to music based on our children’s program), and

The daytime Jam Sessions were designed to give all students of all levels the opportunity to play for friends and loved ones in an environment that is exciting yet comfortable, and is also friendly and encouraging. There were way too many awesome performances in the day to mention themall here but a couple of outstanding moments were: Six yearold Tia Molloy’s tear jerking rendition of Annie’s Song. Nineyear old Emily Smiley’s killer drums to “Enter Sandman” andScott (way too old to really mention) and Alexa Slaymaker’sfull band verison of Bon Jovi’s “Who Say’s You Can’t Go Home”. As cool as the daytime Jam Sessions were, the highlight of the 2008 Student Fest definitely had to bethe evening Rock Shows put on by our 12 incredible AMP’Dbands. Man did they rock!!! Both nights were packed to afull house of screaming fans who witnessed an astoundinglyzealous rock onslaught. QuaranTEEN’s killer guitar duo blew doors on Freebirdand the World’s Coolest Guitar Solo Medley. Midnight Sunhad the crowd screaming “more, more, more” with a rebelyell. Laidback & Loud proved that we can still rock in America. Hang Time featured power house vocals and covered some amazing tunes. The Grey Dogs graduatedfrom the program with “Eagles” quality vocals. GutterMuppets proved that chicks rule. Doomed Obsession had anyone with a pace maker running for the door.Broken Hinges performed a radio quality original, as didSilk ‘n Suede, the youngest of our AMP’D bands. One LastChance nailed several high energy rock anthems. Expiration Date ‘aMused’ us with “Nights of Cydonia”. Andthe Idle Americans had us all singing the “Roadhouse”blues. Both evenings were topped off with grand prize give-aways worth thousands of dollars.
