Research Scholar Felix Gonzalez works on a therapeutic intervention for acute myocardial infarction at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. His research has resulted in upcoming clinical trials and may result in a life-saving intervention for heart patients.

Medical Fellows
• Travel to the Washington D.C. area twice during the fellowship year to network and share scientific research

• Annual compensation of $25,000, health & life insurance
• Furnished housing and utilities; computer provided
• Round-trip moving expense reimbursement

• $5,500 fellow’s allowance may be used for health care and tuition & fees
• $5,500 research allowance for computer-related expenses, scientific meetings, books, and other research-related expenses

• Some schools have special status under which students can remain enrolled; fees vary per school
• Check with registrar and financial aid office
• For those who do not maintain their enrollment in school, HHMI can help complete deferment forms (request from your loan servicing center)
