EXHIBIT OPENING - MEMBERS ONLYFriday, December 3 from 7 to 9 PM
Members are cordially invited to attend our exhibit openingFriday evening, December 3 from 7 to 9 PM. Come, viewthe exhibit and enjoy entertainment by the IntermediateSchool forensic students under the direction of their leaderand coach, Mrs. Trudy Wolfe Larkin. These talentedstudents have performed for us for the past several years.Refreshments will be served.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDEDAll Weekend
Help your Museum during the exhibit by: baking for ourbaked goods sale, manning our entry table, greeting thepublic and showing them our Museum’s upstairs exhibits,assisting in sales, bringing your family and friends to theexhibit, assisting in the cleanup at 4 PM on Sunday. Callthe Museum at 732-531-2136 to volunteer.
EDEN WOOLLEY HOUSE
The Eden Woolley House, our future home is beingreadied for its move through the woods to its newfoundation now under construction. It will be located nearthe town’s new library. This old homestead needscomplete restoration before it can be opened to the public.Our Executive Board is committed to raising a sizableamount of money for this project through a capitalcampaign. Attend the meeting on Monday, Nov 15 andlearn more about our plans. Now is the time to think ahead. We welcome your inputand ideas. Come to the meeting with your thoughts aboutuses of the Woolley House. Can’t make the meeting?Send your ideas to the museum via regular mail at 163Monmouth Rd. or by e-mail to Ginny at [email protected].

GIFTS THAT KEEP ON GIVING
Stumped for a gift for someone who has everything? For abirthday? For an anniversary? For a retirement? The birthof a grandchild? For a memorial? When you don’t knowwhat to send or how to appropriately recognize an event,consider a donation to the Museum’s new Woolley Fund.The Fund will be used for display and exhibit furnishingsfor the new Museum headquarters. A gift that will enableprofessional quality exhibits for years to come in theTownship of Ocean Historical Museum.
For donations to the tax deductible fund a card will be sentto the honoree or family, acknowledging the gift in theirname from you. The Chairman of this committee isBarbara Thompson. Also keep in mind our Buy a Brick Campaign. This isanother great way to honor or memorialize your familymembers or friends and at the same time to become a partof our local history. Any name or names of your choicewill be permanently inscribed on 4” x 8” bricks to beinstalled on a walkway at the new site of the Eden WoolleyHouse. Bricks are $100.00 each and tax deductible. Callthe Museum for a brick form.
HELP NEEDED FOR SPRING TEA
The Museum’s Spring Tea is being repeated in 2005 bypopular demand. The sellout event will be held theweekend before Mother’s Day, on April 30 th, under theleadership of Lesley and Katy Dorsett.
Volunteers are needed for baking, making tea sandwichesand working the day of the Tea. If you are unable tovolunteer time, consider donating new items for a giftauction. The committee will be putting together themebaskets such as: gourmet foods, beauty and bath, tea fortwo, home decorations, fragrances for the home,holiday/seasonal entertaining, eating out, wines andpastas, etc.
The profits from the Tea will again go to the Woolley HouseRestoration Fund. If you are willing to help out or donate tothis project, please call the Museum 732-531-2136 orLesley Dorsett 732-229-0510.
SURPRISE GIFT OF $100,000AT THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER
Two hundred members and friends of the Museumgathered on September 12 th at the Deal Golf and CountryClub to celebrate our 20 th anniversary. Our foundingmembers and leaders were recognized on this specialoccasion. Special guest of honor, Senator Joseph A.Palaia, surprised and thrilled those present when heannounced a second $100,000 from the legislature for therestoration of the Woolley House. We sincerely thank himfor his effort and ongoing support.Financially, the dinner raised approximately $10,000.00 forthe Woolley House restoration.
