Dear OKA family, Namaskaru! Looking forward to the long weekend as we celebrate 151st birthday of this wonderful country we live in and have made a home – Canada! As we plan our get togethers and outings for the weekend, please take the time to check on our senior friends who stay by themselves. Also make sure your kids are hydrated especially since it is going to be a scorcher! Take care of your pets – ensure they have access to fresh bowls of water! Stay cool! This reminds me of my grandmother who used to “Ushna khan uney karai” I am sure most of you agree that food we consume has a direct impact on our body. While Hot foods like onions, tomatoes, ginger can improve digestion and circulation in our body, cool foods like coconut, cauliflower, asparagus can provide nourishment and strength. Folks, this summer look in your pantry and fridge. Eat cool and eat healthy! I hope you have marked your calendars for July 21st. The details are on our website as well as Facebook page. Please register online. We need the registration numbers to make the payment 2 weeks prior to the day of. Therefore, we request you to register by July 7th , since it will help us considerably with our planning for food and games. Once we have made the payments for your entrance, we will get the tickets. We will email you the tickets which you will have to bring with you to the park on the day of. I would also like to remind you that annual members can renew their membership around this time. I strongly recommend you do that online prior to attending the picnic! It was a pleasure for Ravi and me to serve you - our wonderful Konkani community and lead the fantastic executive team 2017-2018. On July 21st, you will be saying farewell to the outgoing executive team and welcoming the incoming executive Team! A big Thank you to all our members and sponsors who collectively continue to make this happen. We are looking forward to seeing all of you and continue celebrating traditions together! As Kalidas so aptly said: Yesterday is but a dream, Tomorrow is only a vision. But Today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope! CHIDAMBARA RAHASYAM It has been always told by our Ancient Sages that Lord Nataraja ‘s big toe at the Chidambaram Tem-ple is the Centre Point of World 's Magnetic Equator. Our ancient Tamil Scholar Thirumoolar has proved this Five thousand years ago His treatise, Thirumandiram is a wonderful Scientific guide for the whole world. Let me elaborate. Chidambaram temple embodies the following characteristics: 1. This temple is located at the Center Point of world 's Magnetic Equator. 2. Of the "Pancha bootha" i.e. 5 temples, Chidambaram denotes the Skies. Kalahasthi denotes

Wind. Kanchi Ekambareswar denotes land. 3. All these 3 temples are located in a straight line at 79 degrees 41 minutes Longitude. This can

be verified using Google. An amazing fact & astronomical miracle. 4. Chidambaram temple is based on the Human Body having 9 Entrances denoting 9 Entrances or

Openings of the body. 5. Temple roof is made of 21600 gold sheets which denotes the 21600 breaths taken by a human

being every day (15 x 60 x 24 = 21600) 6. These 21600 gold sheets are fixed on the Gopuram using 72000 gold nails, which denote the

total number of Nadis (Nerves) in the human body. These transfer energy to certain body parts that are invisible.

7. Thirumoolar states that man represents the shape of Shivalingam, which represents Chidam-baram, which represents Sadashivam, which represents the Lord’s celestial dance.

8. Ponnambalam " is placed slightly tilted towards the left. This represents our Heart. To reach this, we need to climb 5 steps called "Panchatshara padi " Si, Va, Ya, Na, Ma " are the 5 Panchatshara mantras.

9. There are 4 pillars holding the Kanagasabha representing the 4 Vedas. 10. Ponnambalam has 28 pillars denoting the 28 "Ahamas "as well as the 28 methods to worship

Lord Shiva. These 28 pillars support 64 +64 Roof Beams that denote the 64 Arts. The cross beams represent the Blood Vessels running across the Human body.

11. 9 Kalasas on the Golden Roof represent the 9 types of Sakthi or Energies. 12. The 6 pillars at the Artha Mantapa represent the 6 types of Sashtras. 13. The 18 pillars in the adjacent Mantapa represent 18 Puranams. 14. The dance of Lord Nataraja is described as Cosmic Dance by Western Scientists. Whatever Science is propounding now has been stated by Hinduism thousands of years ago

Hinduism is not just religion. It’s a way of living. Be proud of it
