Evaluation Of Cellulosic Material Furanic compounds are tested for in accordance with ASTM D 5837 and IEC 61198: hydroxymethyl-2-furfural (HMF), furfuryl alcohol (FOL), 2-furaldehyde {2-

    furfural} (FAL), 2-acetylfuran (AF), and 5-methyl-2-furfural (MF).

The results of the five furanic compounds tested indicate that significant cellulosic degradation has occurred. A 2-furfural accumulation rate greater than 50 micrograms/L/year is indicative of accelerated aging for

a free breathing conservator unit with Kraft paper insulation. Further investigation is warranted to verify the unit is receiving adequate cooling. Besides general overheating, the high 2-furfural content may also be

an indication that there is local overheating involving cellulosic materials such as paper or pressboard. The cellulose insulation has between 50 to 25% remaining mechanical life. It is recommended that DP be

performed when other activities warrant going into the transformer. Resample in 18 months or sooner.

an indication that there is local overheating involving cellulosic materials such as paper or pressboard. The cellulose insulation in this transformer has no remaining mechanical life left. Physical jarring of the

transformer or through-faults may cause the unit to fail. This transformer should be replaced as soon as possible. If it remains in-service resample every 3 months or sooner.

There is a low volume of combustible gas present. The condition is of no immediate concern. It is recommended to resample in 1 year for units 69kV and below.

The 2-furfural (the most common furanic compound found in most transformers) concentration is considered acceptable and since the 2-furfural accumulation rate is less than 50 micrograms/L/year it is

considered to be within the appropriate range for a free breathing conservator unit with Kraft paper insulation. This assumes that no processing of the oil or transformer has taken place since instal lation.

Resample in 36 months or sooner.

Overheating of cellulose. Condition is moderate. Resample in 6 months.

The 2-furfural (the most common furanic compound found in most transformers) concentration is within the normal range for power transformers of 100 ug/L (ppb) or less for the sample tested and does not

indicate accelerated cellulosic degradation has occurred. The 2-furfural accumulation rate could not be calculated because no age was provided. This assumes that no processing of the oil has taken place since

Overheating of cellulose. Condition is moderate. Resample in 6 months.

    Dear Ms. Catherine Loayza Carmin,

diciembre 17, 2010Laboratory Test Analysis Report for RQF Electro Service SAC

    Together We Power The World

    Sincerely,

    Cindy Locke

    Chemist

In accordance with your request, we have performed testing on 30 samples received at the Doble Laboratory on December 08, 2010. If the sampling date is not provided, the sample receipt date

(displayed in italic) is used to provide chronological information. For any of these that are first-time analysis: our comments assume each unit has operated continuously under normal conditions for

the last year, otherwise resample in 1 month to determine trend.

Samples 2, 3, and 30 are severe. Sample 15 is severe due to the possiblity that arcing is occurring. We trust our enclosure provides the information you require. We sincerely value your business

and look forward to providing you with additional services in the future. Should you have any comments, suggestions or questions please feel free to contact us.
