The question is what does one do on a sunny $unday morning I mayask ? The answer is go contesting l ! lAlan Oimmick GM0U$I and myself decided to take part in the abovecontest just to see what could be worked on 70cm SSB and if possiblebeat what was achieved during the VHF Field Day,I should say that the contest was held on Sunda 24th July betweenthe hours of 0800 - 1400 UTC or 0900 - 1500 BST which ever way isyour bent l !We went up to Mainslaughter Law again and were operational by 09:00B$T,the reason beinE that Alan had to drive across from Glasgow,Theequipment that we used was a Kenwood TR851e running 25 Watts intoa 2{ Element Tonna.fn total for the day we had 50 contacts ,of which 2were "incomplete" ,covering most of the UK to the $outh of us and ofcourse ihe DX into Denmark,Germany and Holland. It just shows what can be worked on these so called "quiet bands" it isjust a pity that they only seem to be occupied during contesttime, that's life I suppose. At the end of the day we both had an enJoyable time and I as alwayshad the opportunity to see some "old fr iends" l l l l l lHappy contesting,
