Page 5: 1994 20 Year Survey

Barb KellmannQ1: HOMELIFE:

Barb (Kellmann) Shooshanian...I live in Dearborn (about two minutes from Edsel Ford) although I always said I was going to

leave Dearborn as soon as I graduated...it's funny how life turns out sometimes. I have been married for three years.

Although I don't have children of my own, I am blessed to have a wonderful nieces/nephews/godchildren in my life. I also

have three adult stepchildren in my life who are amazing.

Q2: WORK:

I am the Vice President of Operations for a company called Health Alliance Administrators, Inc. in Novi. Our company has a

contract with Health Alliance Plan (the health insurance company) and we work with the agents in the field selling HAP

insurance. I've been in the insurance industry for the past 15 years. Over the past year the industry has changed significantly,

so I always think about my dream job...owning a Hallmark store! People who buy cards are happy people...and I want to work

with happy people!

Q3: EDUCATION:

The majority of my career has been based on being self taught. However, I still have the personal goal of getting my degree. I

made the decision to go back to school about two years ago with the goal of graduating by the time I am 40. This past year

presented a couple challenges for me...so now I'm hoping to graduate by 41!

actively involved in the city and schools. I am proud to be a Dearborn resident. I love to go out to eat so two of my favorite

places to eat are Tria (a cute restaurant in The Henry...a total hidden gem!) and Bistro 222 on Michigan Avenue. I also love to

ride my bike or walk the trails behind Andiamos/Henry Ford Estate and U of M Dearborn. To be honest...I have used some

English Humanities since I went back to school! Prior to that...not so much!

Q6: TRAVEL/ADVENTURE:

The most interesting thing I've done in the last 20 years is when I traveled to Australia with my Mom and sister. It was the

most amazing trip! As I mentioned above I love to travel. In addition to Australia, I've been to England and France. I also love

going to Florida and good ole Las Vegas! By far my greatest achievement in life has been battling breast cancer. I was going to Florida and good ole Las Vegas! By far my greatest achievement in life has been battling breast cancer. I was

diagnosed last October and I am in the home stretch of being a survivor. Battling this disease teaches you so much about

yourself...lessons I am grateful to have learned.

Q7: HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES:

Oh gosh...I THINK we sang Love Shack!!?? Would that be right?? I can't remember! One of my "appropriate" high school

stories to tell was in 10th grade with Mr. Harris. Mr. Harris was blind but would ALWAYS somehow catch me bringing a Diet

Sprite in class. "Miss Kellmann...get rid of the pop"...How did he always know!!?? I'll save the "not so appropriate" stories for

Barb Kellmann

Page 6: 1994 20 Year Survey

Sara CarrQ1: HOMELIFE:

Sara Carr, Tommy Noel, Tommy's 15 year old son, Skylar, and our 3 year old son, Cosmo, live in the Sierra Nevada

Mountains just outside the northern entrance of Yosemite National Park.

Q2: WORK:

Right now Tommy is the Executive Chef and I am the Housekeeping Manager of Evergreen Lodge at Yosemite. The two of

us have worked in Hotel Restaurant Management together in beautiful places like Big Sur, Ca, The Big Island of Hawaii, and

Bellingham, Washington. My dream job is to have our own resort/hostel/restaurant in a tropical location. It would be

awesome. The millions of jobs I've had since high school would aid in it's amazing success. I've been an account manager,

accounts payable/receivable, assistant general manager, bar manager, bartender, buyer, caterer, costume designer, CSR for

a pager delivery company and a service that turned electromagnetic tape into microfiche (before hard drives, when all the

hospitals and universities had basements full of equipment to store their computer’s data), human resources, inventory and

control, lifeguard, marketer, merchandiser, MDMA paid research subject, mushroom farmer, nanny, park aide, producer of

giant events, project manager, restaurant manager, roadie, secretary, security guard, server, sheep shearer, social worker,

stage hand, stage manager, teacher, telemarketer, theater house manager and a warrant server.

Q3: EDUCATION:

Wayne State University, 1999, BS, Criminal Justice I never waited tables until I had my degree and my first "real" job. I made

24 grand a year and got a second job cocktail waitressing at the Second City Detroit. I made more money every two nights

than I brought home every 2 weeks. Realized college was overrated. Let go of the "real" job stigma and started really living

which included travelling. My best skills, besides never spilling my beer/coffee even though I'm prone to clumsiness is...some

kind of a combo of being able to get things done with not enough time, money, or people and still come away having learned

or experienced something positive that I will use again in the future. And to not have to learn the same lesson twice.

Q4: HOBBIES:

I heart fun. Our family lives where other families go on vacation. Think of your raddest vacay. We live there and on our days

off we play there. We enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, and when we decide we need some city life we head to the

bay and eat. We love baseball games, live music and people watching. Once in a while we all go out together and use the

wifi somewhere. Seriously, that is an event in our family. We live in the mountains without cell service (spotty, at best) and no

internet worth paying money for.

Q5: DEARBORN PRIDE:Q5: DEARBORN PRIDE:

I could never live in Dearborn now. I don't resent the place, it's just not enough for me. It's fun to visit, but never in winter.

During high school I remember writing 2 papers about how much I hated English Humanities. Turns out, I love that stuff now.

I got out of taking Humanities at Michigan State because I showed them our curriculum. I love going to art museums and

knowing the painting before I read the placard. I've changed a lot since I was a teenager. I always appreciated art, but now I

can finish the crossword puzzles and that's what's really important.

Q6: TRAVEL/ADVENTURE:

I won't have anything to talk about at the party. Check out www.bigsurfashionshow.com

Q7: HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES:

At the Senior Party I sang Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” with Barb and Amy. I never had any idea what he was saying and I still

don’t, but at that moment, everything was crystal clear. My favorite story to remember is the night before the last day of

school, senior year. My favorite story to tell is the one from Freshman year when I broke both of my arms at the same time at

a gymnastics meet. There are G and R rated versions. The apex of the story is when Stick cracks the ice pack and goes to

start shaking it and it explodes disposable ice pack chemicals all over my face. Now, 23 years later, I know when it’s going to

rain because I can feel the barometric pressure change in my elbows and I know I’ll never get a chemical peel.

Q8: YOUR 20’s:

My twenties were all about falling in and out of love with people, places, ideas, habits, money and myself.

Q9: OLD AND NEW FRIENDS:

I still talk to and love a bunch of people from high school. And thanks to social media I can creep on a bunch of other people.

Q10: Are you coming to the 20 year reunion?

I'm flying to Michigan just for this event. I'll be there Friday and Saturday and can't wait to see everyone and their families.

And to eat elephant ears at the carnival. They don't have elephant ears on the West Coast, only churros and sometimes

funnel cakes.

reopened!

Q6: TRAVEL/ADVENTURE:
