For additional information, contact Linda Morgan, (412) 776-9028. Journal of Metals Introduces New Editor- The Metallurgical Society of AIME annoum!es the appointment of Kevin W. Marsden as editor of Journal of Metals. Kevin is a 32-year-old Pittsburgh native who previously worked for Mesta Machine Co. and Teledyne Ohio Steel. His professional background with OEM suppliers to the metal-forming industries includes experience in quality assurance, operations, product development, and technical marketing. He worked in ferrous foundries, open die forging, and heat treating and fabrication, specializing in mill roll manufacture. Kevin holds a BSc in metallurgical and materials engineering and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. In Kevin's view, TMS-AIME must continually strive to facilitate technical exchange through its periodicals, books, and seminars. He believes that Jour- nal of Metals is the primary vehicle for this work. Speaking about his goals as editor, he stated that he hoped "to exhance the Journal's already excellent technical reputation, while extending the commercial relevance of the publica- tion through bro.ad TMS member involvement." To assist him in achieving these objectives, TMS-AIME concurrently an- nounced the formation of a standing editorial committee. Members from each of the Society's technical committees will comprise this editorial advisory group. In addition to their recommendation and review functions, the new committee members will enjoy legislative responsibility for the editorial calendar. NOMINATIONS SOUGHT 1985 Acta Metallurgica Gold Metal Nominations are currently being sought for the 1985 Acta Metallurgica Gold Metal. Criteria for candidates are a demonstrated ability and lead- ership in materials research. Publi- cation of work in Acta Metallurgica or Scripta Metallurgica is not required. Candidates are sought from Spon- soring or Cooperating Societies. Nominations should include: 1. A brief personal history or bio- graphical sketch of nominee. 2. Reasons supporting the nomina- tion, e.g., major consequences and impact of nominee's work. 3. List of nominee's publications. TMS-AIME members are invited to submit nominations for the 1985 Medal by completing the TMS-AIME Honors and Awards Nomination Form (see page 5 of this issue) and send to Alexander R. Scott, Execu- tive Director, The Metallurgical So- ciety of AIME, 420 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, Pennsylvania 15086. Journal of Metals Introduces New Editor-
