Journal of Metals Introduces New Editor-
The Metallurgical Society of AIME annoum!es the appointment of Kevin W. Marsden as editor of Journal of Metals. Kevin is a 32-year-old Pittsburgh native who previously worked for Mesta Machine Co. and Teledyne Ohio Steel. His professional background with OEM suppliers to the metal-forming industries includes experience in quality assurance, operations, product development, and technical marketing. He worked in ferrous foundries, open die forging, and heat treating and fabrication, specializing in mill roll manufacture. Kevin holds a BSc in metallurgical and materials engineering and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
In Kevin's view, TMS-AIME must continually strive to facilitate technical exchange through its periodicals, books, and seminars. He believes that Journal of Metals is the primary vehicle for this work. Speaking about his goals as editor, he stated that he hoped "to exhance the Journal's already excellent technical reputation, while extending the commercial relevance of the publication through bro.ad TMS member involvement."
To assist him in achieving these objectives, TMS-AIME concurrently announced the formation of a standing editorial committee. Members from each of the Society's technical committees will comprise this editorial advisory group. In addition to their recommendation and review functions, the new committee members will enjoy legislative responsibility for the editorial calendar.
