• RULES and REGULATIONS • 1. The Show will open at 8.30 am. 2. Dogs will be received until 1.00 pm and after which no dogs may be received except under exceptional and

unforeseen circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management. 3. Judging will commence at 9.00 am. 4. The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed by which time dogs must be removed.

Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. Exhibits may not be removed any earlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show Management and then only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club.

5. The Entry Fee for each dog entered is: Members First Entry £20.00; Non-Members First Entry £22.00. All subsequent entries £2.00 per class. Not for Competition: £5.00 per dog (No dog is permitted within the precincts of the Show unless it has been entered. Spectator Dogs will be accepted on the day at £5.00 per dog - please see Show Secretary on arrival). Catalogues: £4.00 pre-paid with entries; £5.00 on day of Show. Entry fees must be paid at the time of making entries. Under no circumstances will fees be returned once an entry has been made.

6. Prize Money: 1st £5.00; 2nd £3.00; 3rd £2.00 in each class. Prize Money must be collected on the day and will not be sent after the Show.

7. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 8. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 9. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 10. Best Puppy in Show: Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a

puppy which has competed and has been declared Best Puppy in Breed (Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy). A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Where the Reserve Best of Breed or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.

Best Puppy in Show and subsequent placings must be selected from puppies which have been declared Best Puppy in Breed (Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy).

11. Best in Show: The dog declared Best in Show must be selected from Best in Breed (Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register). Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Best of Breed(s) and the dog/bitch declared by the breed judge to be Reserve Best of Breed to the dog declared Best in Show.

12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.

Page 9: 1946 - 2018 · 2018. 2. 5. · Puppy Bitch 72. Special Show/Working Dog or Bitch (see definition) 79. Junior Bitch 73. Puppy Dog 80. Post Graduate Bitch 74. Junior Dog 81. Limit Bitch

• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.

• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.

• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty

of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended

lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to

dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

18. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

19. EXHIBITORS PASSES. No passes will be issued. Exhibitors requiring confirmation of receipt of entries should enclose S.A.E. with entries.

20. EXERCISE OF DOGS. Dogs must be exercised within the area provided. 21. DOGS IN THE RING. The Committee will not be responsible for exhibitors missing their classes. 22. JUDGING. Should any Judge be prevented from fulfilling his engagement the Committee reserve to

themselves the right to appoint another in his place subject to the terms of K.C. Show Regulations 22 (a). 23. All Rules and Regulations, printed for convenience in other parts of this Schedule, shall be deemed to be

Regulations of the Committee and shall have the same effect as if they formed part of these Regulations. 24. SAFETY OF DOGS. The Committee will be most anxious for the care of the dogs brought for exhibition but it

must be distinctly understood by exhibitors and all other persons that the Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any dogs, or other property, whether arising from accident or other cause whatever or from any act or omission of themselves, their officers, agents, servants or others.

25. Every exhibitor making an entry or entries at or for this Show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by the Kennel Club Rules and Show Regulations and to obey these Regulations, and it is on this understanding only that entries are accepted.

26. No person other than Exhibitors (officials excepted) will be allowed in the ring during the judging of classes or specials.

27. CHILDREN must be supervised by parents or responsible adults AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE SHOWGROUND. The Show Committee regard this as a very important rule.

28. The Committee of United Retriever Club can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by stand holders at the Show and would remind exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition (F) B.

29. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Anyone failing to clear up will be reported to the Committee who may enforce the right to refuse entries from that exhibitor for future Shows.

30. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

31. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees.

32. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.

accept such entries from breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society and at Shows held over more than one day, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING BENCHING & IDENTIFICATION OF DOGSIt is a Kennel Club requirement that exhibitors display the exhibit/bench number on their crate, cage or container at all times. This is particularly important when cages etc. are not on benches, and at unbenched shows. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note that the original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the show society, must not be used for this purpose. It is important to be able to contact exhibitors and identify dogs where a dog may be in distress or where the crate might be blocking a gangway. At benched shows soft crates may only be put on benches if they are the appropriate size for both the dog and the bench, and the crate can be securely attached to the bench. These points were introduced with the safety of all in mind, but most importantly that of the dog, and to minimise potential incidents and injuries.Exhibitors are also reminded that Show Regulation F(1).17 requires that dogs should be present on their benches at all times except when being judged, prepared for exhibition or exercised.
