§ Cities/ authorities will impose strong regulation to control safety and secure desired effects (less cars on the road)

§ Concession/ tender awards for autonomous systems will be based on proven system validity/ robustness through relevant pilot installations and system safety assessments

§ Until then, heterogenous regulatory framework (especially in Europe) will be a hurdle to scale AD projects

§ Some cities are trying to solve a very specific problem without considering the scalability of their proposal (ie. “we need a shuttle service to bring people to the mall”)

§ Challenges and expected solutions of a city not accepted by a certain part of the population (ie. “AD Bus or pooled service in an upper class neighborhood”) à cultural and sociological challenges often not considered

§ Infrastructural changes (dedicated lanes for shared mobility) are often very political

§ The customer journey has to become fully automated providing for highest level of convenience, reliability and safety at a low price

§ ETA one of the most important factors for customers to switch mode of transport§ TCO for a privately owned car vs. cost per mile

§ All driver activities need to be entirely replaced by artificial intelligence/ automated activities to get to a crucial price point
