The manualdoesnot describecertainprocessor dependentcharacteristics,includingperi-pheraldeviceoperationandprogramming informationsuchastheinstructionsetand report generation capability. This information iscontainedintheappropriateProcessor documentation.Table1-1providesacross reference to other Allen-Bradley publications which discuss these topics in relation to speci-fic Allen-Bradley processors. 1.1GENERAL The Industrial TerminalSystemis aportable and versatile programming terminal that has a CathodeRayTube(CRT)andakeyboard. WhenconnectedtoanAllen-BradleyPro-cessor,itisusedtoenter,monitor,andedit ladder diagram programs andreport genera-tionmessages.It canalso be connected to a line printer, a DigitalCassette Recorder,or a DataCartridgeRecordertoperformvarious peripheral functions.The Industrial Terminal Systemcanalsobeconnectedtoamodem, computer or other RS-232-C device for use as a data terminal.Theladder diagraminstruc-tionsandalphanumeric/graphiccharacters thataregeneratedorreceivedareclearly displayed on the CRT screen. 1.2 DESCRIPTION TherearefourIndustrialTerminalSystems (Cat.No. 1770-T1,T2, -T3, and -T4) available. They are: Power ON/OFF -located on the front of the Industrial Terminal CRT Monitor. When the power switch is ON, it engages a mechanical interlocktoguardagainstattachingorre-moving the keyboard while power is applied. Brightness- locatedonthebackofthe IndustrialTerminalCRTMonitor.Itcon-trols the intensity of the screen. Volume- located on the back of the Indus-trialTerminalCRTMonitor.It controls the audio level of the beep tone that is generated when a valid key on the keyboard is pressed. 2.3SOCKETS ANDCABLES The various sockets on the back of the Indus-trialTerminalCRTMonitor(Figure2-1)in-clude the: AC power cord connection Three Channelsockets(A,B,andC) VideoOutput Jack Channels A,B,and Care the communication portsforconnectingProcessors,peripheral devices, computers, and modems. Channel B performs different functions in different Indus-trial Terminal Systems (Table 2-1 ).The Video Output Jack canbeusedtoconnectanRS-170compatibleBlack&WhiteCRTmonitor capable of underscan operation. The function ofeachchannelandthecablesrequiredare describedin Table 2-1. 2.4KEYBOARDCONNECTOR COVER TheIndustrialTerminalSystemisshipped withthekeyboardconnector coverinstalled on the front of the CRT Monitor. If the Indus-trialTerminalSystemisusedasamonitor (without a keyboard), this keyboard connector cover MUST be installed. 2.5KEYBOARDS Therearefourkeyboardsavailable,onefor eachIndustrial TerminalSystem. Since allIndustrial TerminalSystems are set up in the same manner, the information in this section applies to allsystems. 3.1KEYBOARD INSTALLATION Performthefollowingstepstoattachthe keyboard to theIndustrial terminal: 1.Loosenthemountingscrewsonthekey-boardconnector cover andremovethecon-nector cover. 2.Be sure the power switchisoff. 3.Liftandmovethelockinglevertothe UNLOCK position. 4.Align the two support pins on the keyboard with thebushings on the front of the chassis (Figure 3-1)andinsert the keyboard. 5.Lift and move the locking lever to the LOCK position. NotethatthePLC-2FamilyKeyboard(Cat. No.1770-FD)andthePLC-3Keyboard(Cat. No.1770-FE)haveaprojectionontheback thatfitsintotheIndustrialTerminalCRT Monitor. This projection is designed to fit into anotchonaSeries8IndustrialTerminal Monitor.SeriesAIndustrialTerminalMoni-tors,shippedwithearlier1770-T1and-T2 systems,do not have a notch. Theboardhasfourpositions:100,120,220 and240.Wheneither100or 120isselected, the voltage range is 98 to 132V AC.When 220 or 240isselected,the voltage rangeis196 to 250VAC. Be sure the power ON/OFF switch is turned OFF and the ACpower cordisdisconnected from the Industrial TerminalCRT Monitor. 2.Slide the plastic cover to the left over the AC power cord connection. 3.Insertapieceof wirethroughtheholeon theACselectionboardandtwisttheends together to forma loop. 4.Grasp thewireloopwithapairofneedle nose pliers andpull toremove the board. 5.Remove the wire loop from the AC selection board. 6.Position the AC selection board so that the number that is visible matches the line voltage. 7.Install the AC selection board. The number now visible shouldmatch the line voltage. 8.Ifthe220/240Vsettingisused,placethe 230Vlabelbelow the selectionboard. 9.ChangetheACfuseandpowercableas describedbelow. 3.5CHANGING AC FUSE Performthefollowingstepstochangeor inspectthemainACfuseoftheIndustrial TerminalCRT Monitor (Figure 3-4): 1.With the power switch OFF,disconnect the ACpower cordfromtheIndustrialTerminal CRTMonitor. 2.Slide the plastic cover to the left over the AC power cord connection. 3.PulltheFUSEPULLlevertotheleftand remove the fuse.
