is of St. Frances de Chantal … the face of our saint is one of

beauty, contemplation and love … she is holding the world in her

hand … we need more than ever beauty, contemplation, love and

a saint holding us in her hand … says St. Frances: “We can be as

satisfied to be powerless, idle and still before God, and dried up

and barren when He permits it, as to be full of life, enjoying His

presence with ease and devotion. The whole matter of our union

SAD NEWS … from the Cardinal … that the decades�old allega-

tion of abuse against Monsignor Edward Barry was found credi-

ble and substantiated and so he can never again publicly exercise

his priesthood … the Cardinal thanks all who contacted the arch-

diocese on Monsignor’s behalf … the Cardinal then ends his let-

ter with this request: “Please pray for Monsignor, all our priests,

all victims, for one another … and for me.”�

PARISH COUNCIL … gathered for a virtual meeting last week

… it was a technical success … a pastor’s report was delivered

(you can find it on the website if you wish to be updated) … a

tentative Blood Drive is scheduled for July 26 … the Holy Name

Society will organize a virtual meeting for their elections and

business … a school update was presented indicating that the

school will not open this academic year and that the teachers un-

der the direction of Sister Patricia has been most successful with

ZOOM teaching and home schooling … our next meeting will be

June 2 and we HOPE it will be LIVE!�

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION … is the act of worshipping

God as He is present in the consecrated Eucharist … the conse-

crated Eucharist is placed in the monstrance in a container called

a luna … the monstrance is placed on the altar for adoration …

Jesus looks at us and we look at Jesus … we may pray the

psalms, the rosary, read the Bible or a spiritual book or just sit

quietly praying for different intentions and people … we have a

faithful group of people who are present in the church each day

for this adoration … remember the church is open for prayer and

adoration weekdays from 8 am until 3:30 pm; Saturdays from 8

am until 5:30 pm and on Sundays from 8 am until 1:30 pm.�

ROSARIES … there is a basket of rosaries … please take one,

say a rosary and pass it on to a friend or a neighbor … you may

also leave special prayer intentions in the basket on the ushers’

tables … bulletins are also on the ushers’ tables.�

MASS INTENTIONS … are being honored by the priests at

their “private, unannounced” Masses.�

SUNDAY OF EASTER�

ASCENSION THURSDAY … is usually a holy day of

obligation … one of the days when all Catholics attend Mass even

though it is not a Sunday … however, on this Ascension

Thursday, May 21 our churches remain closed and so no Masses

… the Solemnity of the Ascension is the celebration of the return

of the Resurrected Jesus to His Father in heaven … Jesus has

completed his preaching, teaching and miracles … He has

suffered the Passion and Death on the Cross … He has appeared

to His men and women disciples … He has given them their

mission on earth … He promises that He will send His Holy Spirit

to guide and to instruct them ��� and now us … may we complete

our work here on earth and return to the Father in heaven.�

RENEW+REBUILD … thank you for continuing to fulfill your

pledges … some parishioners will be receiving letters reminding

them of their pledges and asking if they can complete their pledge

… do your best … we do need your support so that we can

accomplish our heating and a/c replacement in the church … we

have about 32 lapsed donors and, if they are not able to complete

their pledges, that will amount to about $90,000 lost revenue in

RENEW+REBUILD … already $351,000 has been collected …

THE CARDINAL … had a teleconference with the bishops and

the Deans of the Archdiocese on Thursday, May 7 … of course,

he is most concerned about the re�opening of the churches and

the celebration of Mass and the sacraments but there is also the

health consideration because this virus is deadly … there is a

committee of priests working on plans for when we re�open,

social distancing in the church and offering possibilities for

celebrating the sacraments with a very limited number of people

… there is no obligation for Mass if you cannot come or you are

scared to come … BUT WE WANT TO COME … St. Corona,

abuso contra monseñor Edward Barry, de hace décadas, se

consideró creíble y fundamentada, por lo que nunca más podrá

los domingos de 8 am a 1:30 pm.�

ROSARIOS ... están en el vestíbulo de la iglesia para

los niños ... les pedimos que tomen un Rosario, recen

un Rosario y dejen una intención de oración en la

canasta de Pascua ... esto es para niños de todas las

edades ... y tal vez un gran PRESENTE PARA EL DÍA

DE LA MADRE ... un Rosario por las intenciones de tu

madre y por las bendiciones de Dios. �

LA ASCENSIÓN JUEVES ... suele ser un día sagrado de

obligación ... uno de los días en que todos los católicos asisten a

misa aunque no sea domingo ... sin embargo, en este jueves de

ascensión, 21 de mayo, nuestras iglesias permanecen cerradas y,

por lo tanto, no hay misas ... la solemnidad del La ascensión es la

celebración del regreso del Jesús resucitado a su Padre en el

cielo ... Jesús ha completado su predicación, enseñanza y

milagros ... Ha sufrido la Pasión y la Muerte en la Cruz ... Se ha

aparecido a Sus discípulos hombres y mujeres ... Él ha les dio su

misión en la tierra ... Él promete que enviará a Su Espíritu Santo

para guiarlos e instruirlos, y ahora a nosotros ... que podamos

completar nuestro trabajo aquí en la tierra y regresar al Padre en

los decanos de la Arquidiócesis el jueves 7 de mayo ... por

supuesto, está muy preocupado por la reapertura de las iglesias y

la celebración de la Misa y los sacramentos, pero también está la

consideración de salud porque este virus es mortal ... hay un

comité de sacerdotes que trabajan en planes para cuando

reabrimos, el distanciamiento social en la iglesia y ofrece

posibilidades para celebrar los sacramentos con un número muy

limitado de personas ... no hay obligación para la Misa si no

puedevenir o tiene miedo de venir ... PERO QUEREMOS

VENIR ... Corona, reza por nosotros, San Frances de Chantal,
