The p4s*ge o f Republic Act 9173 otherwise known as the Philippine Nursing Act o f 2002, was envisage4 to respond to the emerging pressures o f globalization vis-a-vis the nursing profession. { .. H;owevftf, more th1,lU: ten years thereafter, the nursing sector sees the inadequacies o f said professiohal regulatorY law in providing an adequate nursing personnel system in the country ,that w$,l'~nsure the ?elivery o f quality bas~c health services to its ~eople and in meeting the Imphe4: demands commg from the MillennIUm Development Pact Signed by the government. :Nursin~ ,bractice in, the country must be strategically positioned and allow its elf t o respond proactire;y to local avd global demands and developments. ·f '(, I Hence, 'thi s bill seeks to repeal the ten-year old nursing law and to pr opose the following reforms, ~ m o n g other~: , " 1 I.
