that comes when one can share her burdens with
another. Hope and Healing Nashville is here to meet
in-person or over the phone, as one walks the journey

AUTOMATED EXTERNAL
DEFIBRILLATOR
For the safety of all parishioners, the
parish has an AED (defibrillator) in
the school office hallway. It is on the
wall outside of the Principal’s office
across from the Music Room.
There is a second AED at the doors
that exit toward the large playground
(Jr. High wing). This is for
emergency use only.
WHAT IS A STEWARD ANYHOW?
We are beginning this weekend a series of homilies on
stewardship. Although this concept includes being generous with
our money, it is much bigger than that. It is really a way of living.
In the first place, what is a steward? The Gospel today gives the
example of a steward -- a really bad steward actually! A steward
is one who has been entrusted with authority over goods that
belong to the one who has entrusted the goods. It is a concept
that comes up in the gospels a lot. The servants, for example, who are
entrusted with the various number of talents, for example, are stewards. The
man in the Gospel today is also a steward for his master's accounts, but he
abuses the trust of his master to take care of himself.
What I want to suggest to you is that we are stewards of everything that we
have and are. Our lives, our abilities, and our possessions have actually all
been entrusted to us by God. We cannot really claim that they are ours, but
rather they are God's. Where did we get them except from God? What makes
sense, therefore, is to use our lives, our abilities, and our possessions
according to the purpose that God gave them to us for. That is good
stewardship, and this is the concept we will be exploring in the coming weeks.
Of course, it is possible to be a bad steward like the example of the Gospel
today: a steward who treats his life, his abilities, and his possessions as his
own.
Faithfully,
Fr. Baker

MINISTERIO HISPANO
Fielmente,
el P. Baker

HAITI MISSION MINISTRY Currently, the next missions to Robillard, Haiti will be in
February and March, 2020. Fr. Andre is a delightful host! If you would like to go on one of these
Missions, consider serving in specific areas. In February we will improve the playground and
assemble a large swing set, work in the Clinic and paint some school buildings. In March, we will
work in the gardens, visit the classrooms and take school pictures. Daniel Tillias will be there to
work in the gardens. The February trip will be 6-7 days long. The March trip is 4 days long. We will
visit the Citadelle Laferrière with translators. We hire translators. We stay on the church property
and our meals are all prepared. Each trip requires some preparation ahead of time. We will have
meetings to cover travel aspects--what is Robillard like, room and board, clothing to bring, no-no’s,
Passport, recommended vaccines and updating certain immunizations you already have likely had.
All the preparations will be covered before Christmas. The airlines travel is American Airlines—
Nashville to Miami to Cap Haitien, Haiti (15 miles from our village). We do not travel through the
capital Port-au-Prince. We recommend that the team travels together at all times. You pay for your
own transportation, the board and room which costs $25 per day. The translators accompany
groups at the local airport, at the Clinic, in the gardens, in the classrooms and on the playground
and the fieldtrip. There is daily Mass and of course one on Sunday. School will be in session at this
time. Send an email to me at [email protected] if you want to receive further
information. WE DO NEED YOU! Barbara Willour, Ministry member
