This past academic year the Foundation supported projects such as Trauma Informed Care training, the purchase of coding kits for District-wide use, doubled the number of Latinx student scholarships, continued to support high needs students to participate in after school athletics, and increased funding for the number of wellness projects in our schools while continuing to support STEM, art & music classroom programs. We worked to establish a $100,000 Classroom Grants Endowment for the future ( just $10,000 short of reaching our goal! ). We created an awareness video of our service to the community and held a 30 year celebration event to honor our original board members from 1988. For the first time in our history the Foundation is providing funding for “Back-to-School Classroom Grants” which will offer limited support for additional classroom requests from educators this fall. We hope to build on this opportunity to allow support twice a year based on available funds. Your financial support makes a local difference. Please donate today for tomorrow’s future. Our Foundation continues to be a vital support to enhance the quality of education and extra-curricular opportunities for public-school students. Without the generosity of our local community members, business leaders, Foundation partners and individual donors, the impact in K-12 education in Deschutes County would not be possible. Thank YOU for your generosity and partnership which has empowered us to make a meaningful difference to all public-school students and educators! On behalf of our Board, much gratitude, Michelle Johnson, Execuve Director Wendy Graunitz, Board President

ANNUAL REPORT TO THE COMMUNITYFOR THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR BEND LA-PINE SCHOOLS

THE NUMBERS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2018-2019

OUR MISSIONPreparing our students for success and the future through exceptional

educational and extra-curricular opportunities

$149,600Total Classroom Grants, Activity Fee, Perseverance & Latinx Scholarships funded

537Number of high need middle & high school students supported by AFS to participate in after-school athletics

41Innovative STEM, Art, Music & Wellness Classroom Grants funded

48Latinx and Perseverance scholarships awarded to students for higher education or trade school plans

For over 30 years, the Education Foundation has invested over $1.6 million into the Bend, La Pine and Sunriver K-12 educational community through our programs:

• Innovative Classroom Grants for Educators,• Activity Fee support for high need middle & high school students to participate in after-

school athletics, and• Latinx & Perseverance Award scholarships for graduating seniors.

We worked to establish a $100,000 Classroom Grants Endowment for the future (just $10,000 short of reaching our goal!).

On behalf of our Board, much gratitude,

Michelle Johnson, Executive Director

Wendy Graunitz, Board President

Our strategic goal is to provide resources and support to public-school educators, with priority given to District identified high-need schools (Title 1 designation and those with a high percentage of students on Free & Reduced Meals) , as well as to engage and better prepare students for the demands of college and today’s job market. We believe that a vibrant public-school system is essential to the social and economic well-being of a community and our programs serve to support this need. The programs that we provide are NOT funded by the District and we receive no federal dollars.

Support local education by making a donation for one of our programs or supporting the establishment of our Classroom Grants Endowment! LIVE LOCAL, GIVE LOCAL!
