Orienteering Results.

Well done Simon Markwick and Michael Irwin who finished 2nd and 3rd on the Senior Course.

As usual the compe on was extremely ght amongst our Year 9 boys where no one has won more than one event. 1st place has been nicely shared around. This week Cameron Simms was back to his best form finishing in 1st place. Jon More is proving a force to be reckoned with, as over the last 2 events he has finished 1st and this me 2nd. Oliver Pike, who is leading overall finished in 3rd place with Luca Sturny close behind.

In the girls compe on, Jeanne Acosta, who is now leading the compe on by one point over Petra Ashcro , was first with Petra 2nd and Kiri Bhana 3rd.

The Year 9/10 compete in 7 Forest events and their best 4 events count towards the School Orienteering Trophies.

Next year the team hopes to compete in the North Island Secondary School Champs in Napier and the NZ Champs in New Plymouth. If you think you might like to try Orienteering next year see Mr.Peters asap, as he has already had 4 Intermediate students sign up.

TALENT QUEST AT BC

The annual Talent Quest proved once again, that students of Birkenhead College have what it takes to entertain, amuse and enthral a crowd! There was a packed house in the BGT on Thursday last week. It was a tough compe on and the winner could not have been decided without the help of the three amazing judges; vocal instructor Tamsyn Miller, Ms McKenzie and Mr N Smith.

In the end, the winners were ‘Rise of the Salmon’, with their hilarious dancing skills which earned a standing ova on from the crowd.

Thanks to hosts Szelooi Chin and Simon Cox, and to the student council, for making the Talent Quest a success!

The winning entry: ‘Rise of the Salmon’
