For those of you who did not manage here are a few details to keep you in the loop: Our website is up and running and we would love you take some time and check it out. We are gradually migrating pictures, information etc onto the website . We did ask some questions at the Meet the Teacher night and would love it if you could also comment. The questions will be in the foyer of the office for you to add to ( sticky notes and pens will be provided!) or send them via email or if you have hard copy fill in the answers and bring them back into school. Our questions were all based around communication. The questions are at the bottom of this newsletter. There is also an app for your phone where you can message, call, email report an absence or link straight to the website with ease. The app looks like this: We have had some things go missing from children's bags in the cloak bays. Unfortunately this is very hard to monitor. There are some small changes we can make to make access a little harder like turning bags to face the wall and making sure zips and clips are closed. But we do ask that you monitor carefully what your child is bringing into school and that precious items are left to be treasured at home. The scanner code is at the bottom of the home page or just scan it right now from here. Reminder: download the QR code scanner to enable you to download the birkdale north app. Downloading straight from the app wont send you to our app home page without the QR code being scanned. GAAAP (Greater Auckland Aquatic Action Plan) is go- ing really well with most of our children participating daily. Please ensure that your child has togs every day as this is such a great opportunity for our children. This is a programme to teach your child survival skills in the water.

Tēnā koutou, It was so lovely to see many of you at our Meet the Teacher evening last Monday. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to come along and catch up with us. For those of you who did not manage here are a few details to keep you in the loop:

• Our website is up and running and we would love you take some time and check it out. We are gradually migrating pictures, information etc onto the website .

• We did ask some questions at the Meet the Teacher night and would love it if you could also comment. The questions will be in the foyer of the office for you to add to ( sticky notes and pens will be provided!) or send them via email or if you have hard copy fill in the answers and bring them back into school. Our questions were all based around communication. The questions are at the bottom of this newsletter.

• There is also an app for your phone where you can message, call, email report an absence or link straight to the website with ease. The app looks like this:

We have had some things go missing from children's bags in the cloak bays.

Downloading straight from the app won’t send you to our app home page without the QR code being scanned.

GAAAP (Greater Auckland Aquatic Action Plan) is go-ing really well with most of our children participating daily. Please ensure that your child has togs every day as this is such a great opportunity for our children. This is a programme to teach your child survival skills in the water.

Here are our green certificate recipients from last week. Congratulations to all of you!

Just a reminder that green certificates will be given out at Friday syndicate assemblies. The children need to keep them safe as if they manage to collect 5 then a gold certificate will be awarded at the whole school Monday assembly.

You will have noticed over the past week we have been working on our playground. This is some maintenance to keep it safe for our children. It will back up and functioning in a few weeks. I know the children all miss it!

Here are the questions asked at the Meet the Teacher meeting. We would love to hear your responses as this is vital information to ensure we communicate to you in the best possible way.

1. What type of communication would be your preference for the school to communicate with you? (examples - newsletter, face to face, website, notice board, casual conversations, text, phone call)

. 2. On a scale of 1 through to 10 (1 being the lowest) please let us know how we are doing in our communication with you at present

1___2___3___4___5___6___7___8___9___10

3. What else would you like to see on the new website?

4. What is already on the new website that you particularly like?

Have a great weekend and I hope the Cyclone passes by unnoticed,

Nga mihi nui,

Jan

Seeking Volunteers CMA has been helping older people for almost 50 years. We run morning day centres at various locations on the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast with the aim to help seniors stay connected to their community by socializing with like-minded adults. The morning involves craft, games, exercise and more. Our centres are at Sunnynook and Mairangi Bay on Mondays, Albany and Birkenhead on Tuesdays and Belmont and Glen-field on Thursdays. We are seeking Volunteers for general help during the morning and / or assist with driving those who would otherwise be unable to attend. The morning runs from 9.30 – 12.30. This would possibly suit a busy parent wanting to give something back to their community.

If you have a few hours to spare we would love to have a chat with how you can help.
