1 Who is the best at what they do?
It depends of what I think about “best”.
The point of my sources is the creation of new
products or ways of explore processes and materials. I
don’t know if there is a best one, but one that I relate
more… probably with knit involved, like wonderhand and
nanna van blaaderen.
2 Who has a path similar to what I see mine to be?
3 What was the educational path and work
experience that contributed to their success?
Mociun : caitlin mociun is a young woman who graduated in bfa textiles
and continue to explore the combination between arts and crafts. Also
she wants to integrate emerging technologies and tradition, healthy
and personalized production. She owns a clothe line and a store at ny.
the store sells several kinds of fine craft selected by her.
Lisa Drader-murphy : Lisa it’s a canadian fashion designer who started her career
offering sewing and design services to companies. She worked for different
sectors, mainly the industrial one. Then she turned into director of
product development and has consulted as an independent specialist of
industrial performance clothing. Nowadays she own her own brand of
cloths and cosmetics and a boutique at halifax.
4 What changes in work, style, opportunity,
and career have these individuals taken?
I have a big list of names that inspire me… they are product
designers, visual artists, shop owners, brand owners, consultants, fiber
artists, jewlery designers, etc.
all of them have different styles and on each area I can find
opportunities, I am open for all of them.
5 Who has the best portfolio
that I want to emulate?
none. If I could I will pick one or
two works of each person and put together
by main themes, relations or keywords.
probably this is the way that my
portfolio will be. And arrange of different
works related by my experimentations.

For me the bests blog are the
ones who show me connections, images
and other sources.

9 What is the role is using assistants in
these success examples?
mainly on the stores, I think caitlin and lisa have
staff to help to manage the business, sellers, stylists
maybe…
Nana and the other artists, I don’t have no idea.
10 What examples are there of cooperative/group start-up doing what I want to do (or are just good examples of that approach)
wonderhand is an collective of 3 persons, 1 manage and the
others work with the production.
11 What is an example of the most exciting yet scariest creative thing I can think of doing? (that has been done or is similar to)
I think is my ideas of crazy photos for editorials and stuff… artistic
photos like david lachapelle and annie leibovitz.

volunteer activity are out there that use
the process and visual materials that I do?
Care to knit – volunteers knitters to donate to hospitals and other
projects.
Wool works – places that receive knits, clothes and blankets
Design possivel –the project that my college in brazil is developing too,
the one about communities and improve their craftsmanship
Instituto da terra – the one of my (ex) final project that happen on the

15 What apprenticeships, work training,
residency opportunities area in your area of
pratice?
I am really open to the opportunities, one time that I didn’t figure out
what it’s my career. I hope to participate of things like this to gain
experience.
