Dr. Michael Moseley has been a Professor of Radiology at the Stanford University
Lucas Centre, USA, since 1993. He was an early member of the SMRM and SMRI,
served as the first Annual Meeting Program Chair for the ISMRM in 1996 and became
an ISMRM Fellow in 1998. Dr. Moseley served as President of the ISMRM in 2003-2004
and has been awarded the ISMRM Gold Medal for his pioneering work in diffusion
MRI. He has also been recognised as an Honorary Member of the SMRT and has won
the SMRT Crues-Kressel Award. Dr. Moseley has co-authored three books, 30 book
chapters and over 480 articles together with many scientific abstracts and invited lectures. His current
research interests are centred on developing MR methods to detect the earliest events of cerebral
vascular diseases using functional neuroimaging. Dr. Moseley was a keynote speaker at the SMRT
annual meeting in Brisbane in 2006 and on other occasions during the past ten years of ANZ Chapter
meetings. He has proven himself to be an outstanding supporter of the SMRT.
Dr. Paul Finn is a Professor of Radiology and the Director of Magnetic Resonance
Research at the University of California at San Francisco Department of Radiology,
USA. Not only has Dr. Finn authored many peer reviewed articles but he has also
served as the Associate Journal Editor for the highly-regarded publication, Radiology.
His current interests lie in the development and validation of MRI techniques for
cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary imaging and applications of MRI for anatomic
and functional imaging in congenital heart failure. Dr. Finn is an active supporter of
MR education and has served as both ISMRM President 2006-2007 and Vice-President 2004-2005. He
will present on practical tips for acquisition and processing of contrast enhanced MRA and evolving
trends in MRI of paediatric congenital heart disease.
Dr. Taro Takahara is an assistant Professor of Radiology at Tokai University Hospital,
a 1200 bed hospital in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He also holds the
position of Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Tokai
University School of Engineering, Japan, where he lectures and supervises students
studying MRI. Dr. Takahara pioneered the free breathing DWIBS protocol with STIR to
evaluate malignancies in the neck, chest and abdomen and has contributed to over 90
journal publications. His work has generated wide interest and has been cited more
than 2000 times. Dr. Takahara has also presented on body imaging at the ISMRM annual meeting
in Montreal in 2011. Dr. Takahara will present on the basic concepts of whole body DWI and clinical
applications of whole body DWI in oncology and inflammatory disease.
