CITY CEMETERY 1-95 HIGHWAY PROIICE HEATED DISCISSIOI

The only controversy at Monday's city council meeting was sparked over the city's· cemetery. (The cemetery, located adjacent to the State Roads Commission on Kenilworth Avenue, was deeded to the city by the Federal government at the time the town was sold.) Councilmen Gil Weidenfeld and Charles Schwan felt "the city should get . out of the· cemetery business" by not selling any more plots. Since there are only 168 plots (of which only 17 have been sold) it would not lje fair to the taxpayers to have to subsidize such a small number of residents-or fonner residents-or permanent residents, they argued.

However, councilmen Tom lltroqly oppO.ed the connection, stating that such a connection would destroy the Parkw11y by brlnglnr In heaVy commercial tralllc.
