FOUNDER’S DAY REFLECTION, TREASURER ANNOUNCEMENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

Founder’s Day Reflection
On Founders’ Day this year, I had the pleasure to attend initiation at Gamma Beta. This is the first time I can remember attending an initiation on Founders’ Day and I was honored to be invited to spend such a special day with them. I hope all of you had the opportunity to spend time with Brothers and share our common bond. I feel fortunate and proud to be a Brother of Phi Delta Chi. I am thankful for those who came before us, paving the way for us to be so successful, great, and strong. I am thankful for every Brother who believes in the extinction of self for the good of all and lives it every day. Just think, 130 years and still going……I am excited for what the future has in store for us!
Top 5 Goals
Every two years at the start of the new term for your Grand Officers, we meet with your Regional Officers to strategically plan for our future. This year we were happy to have our two new Project Directors join us as well, making us a group of 32. We met in Memphis, TN with meeting space graciously donated by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and hospitality given by the Omega Chapter one evening. We worked through a similar process that you use at your Chapters, using the Nominal Group Technique to
generate ideas and then focus in on our top 5 goals for the fraternity. After a busy weekend of getting to know each other and our new positions and talking through a monumental list of great ideas, here are the top 5 goals!
1. Conduct an assessment of Grand Council and implement a revised schedule and program at the 70th Grand Council in 2015.
2. Increase support (both financial and non-financial) for Chapters to promote attendance at regional and national events by August 2015.
3. Improve training and resources for Chapters, Chapter Advisors, and Regional Officers by August 2015.
4. Launch a Phi Delta Chi mobile application by August 2014.
5. Explore options for receiving National Alumni Dues on a recurring basis by June 2014.
We very much look forward to tackling these as a team and with your help and input, of course. Please look to the next Communicator for more details and progress about our top 5 goals!

Treasurer Announcement
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Mohundro as Project Director serving in the Treasurer role. Michael
will be serving in the role for the next 2 years, matching up with the term of the Grand Officers. Here is a little bit about
Michael!
Michael M. Mohundro, Pharm.D., is Senior Director of Pharmacy at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Dr.
Mohundro received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy in
2002 and is an Alumni Brother of the Beta Beta Chapter. He completed ambulatory care residency training at the University
of Mississippi Medical Center in 2003. Dr. Mohundro has been with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for
over 15 years and has worked in almost every position in the pharmacy including pharmacy clerk, pharmacy technician,
staff pharmacist as well as an IT data analyst. Dr. Mohundro has overseen numerous projects and changes in the pharmacy
including designing and supervising the construction of a state of the art pharmacy. During pharmacy school Brother
Mohundro served as WVC, WCC and Grand Vice President of Student Affairs. Post graduation, he has served as interim
Executive Director, Grand Vice President of Alumni Affairs and helped plan the 65th Grand Council in San Antonio and the
67th Grand Council in Phoenix as part of the Grand Council Planning Committee. Brother Mohundro likes to eat pizza,
drink Diet Dr. Pepper and loves LSU football. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife, Brice (Alpha Tau), and
their two daughters, Abigail and McKenna.

The crowning glory of each Phi Delta Chi Brother is to serve, and it is my pleasure to introduce to you the Regional Correspondents elected to serve the Fraternity for the 2013-2014 year!
The role of the Regional Correspondent (RC) in the Fraternity is to act as a bridge between the Chapters at a local level and the national office. Each month, they communicate with the all of the Worthy Correspondents in their region – managing the Achievement Award Program (AAP), in addition to any other important business that affects the Fraternity-at-large. They are also very highly involved in the planning process of the upcoming Regional Conferences in the spring, and so I highly recommend that if you or your Chapter has any issues or questions about the upcoming Regional Conferences to contact your RC. If they are not
on the phone or hitting the books, you may find them out traveling the region to visit other Chapters, attending events, and spreading their passion for the Brotherhood. They also play an active role during ChEQ visits in the fall and spring.
If you or your Chapter have any questions, suggestions, concerns, or comments regarding the Fraternity – they are more than willing to lend a helping hand, so reach out to them! They are more than willing to give their best efforts to serve you, their Brothers, in remedying any problems that you or your Chapter may be facing fraternally. They’re off to a running start after playing a key role at the strategic planning retreat at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, and they don’t plan on slowing down!
In closing, I would also like to thank the outgoing Regional Correspondents for all of their hard work, dedication, and passion that they fueled into the Fraternity during their time as RC. With that said, please join me in welcoming the newly elected Regional Correspondents!

UPDATE ON PHI DELTA CHI PRESCOTT PAINTING!
Executive Director Kenny Walkup (Alpha Upsilon)[email protected]
Brothers,
Last year the Executive Council was approached by the APhA Foundation in hopes that we would endow the original Robert Thom painting hanging in Washington, DC at the APhA headquarters. Phi Delta Chi committed $10,000 to endow the painting and reached out the Brothers of Phi Delta Chi to help.
We are again reaching out in hopes of raising funds for this project. You can read more about the painting and make your donation through the APhA Foundation.
