In this workshop, Kim Chandler, internationally-renowned vocalist and vocal coach to elite singers and well-known artists, will demonstrate methods that achieve that special, authentic pop sound needed for success in the international market.
The pre-requisite of authentic pop style in performing and teaching is the use of typical style elements. The participants are taken through a variety of challenging exercises for breathing, articulation and rhythmic coordination that incorporate a heavy emphasis on the rhythm - the most important musical element in pop music. Many ‚real world‘ examples will be included from famous pop songs across the decades. The course also provides a comprehensive overview of the knowledge and skill base that teachers need to help singers in the current market . To sum up, the newly-learned exercises are implemented in a practical way by means of work on songs in the final masterclass. The focus will be on authentic musical and technical interpretation of pop repertoire.
The number of participants for the masterclass is limited - singers have to apply. The workshop is taught in English.
