Growing Blackberries & Raspberries

• Most new varieties are thornless• Plants are perennial, canes are biennial• 1st year for canes is vegetative growth, 2nd

is fruit production. Then the cane dies and new ones grow.

• Both grow wild and are cultivated.• Can tell the difference between

blackberries & raspberries by the bottom of the fruit.
