Physical and configuration change s are described below. Changes from a LinkStar IV/Standard S2 Terminal 1. The console in LS-IV/S2 (non-ACM) is an RJ-11. The new console in the S2 ACM is RS-232 and requires a DB-9 Female-DB-9 Male connector to connect to a PC. 2. S2 ACM has a new external power module that provides 24 volts to the IDU. This module plugs directly into the ( PWR) connector on the Terminal. The part number for the power module is 1049984. A second power module (identical to the first (part number 1049984)) is included if a Ku-Band 4-Watt BUC or a C-Band 5-Watt BUC is ordered. This second module  plugs into the auxil iary power connect or (  AUX ODU PWR). 3. S2 ACM has a new RJ-45 port with LEDs that emit green and yellow lights as follows:  Green: Activity on the port.  Yellow: Collisions on the port. When operating properly, the LEDs display green. Yellow indicates a problem (consult customer support). 4. S2 ACM identification on the console log as follows: C A CTX J an 1 00: 00: 00 : 050 2007 B oar d Typ e i s Li nkst ar S2 A CM  As opposed to the LinkStar IV console message, which looks like the following: C A C TX J an 1 00: 00: 00 : 410 2006 Boa r d Typ e i s Li nkst ar I V 5. The tcmp command output in S2 ACM displays the Es/No in dB (see next page). LinkStarS2A Terminal Information Overview

The new LinkStarS2A (S2 with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM)) Terminal supports DVB-S and DVB-S2. Physical and configuration changes are described below.

    Changes from a LinkStar IV/Standard S2 Terminal

This module plugs directly into the (PWR) connector on the Terminal. The part number for the power module is 1049984.

A second power module (identical to the first (part number 1049984)) is included if a Ku-Band 4-Watt BUC or a C-Band 5-Watt BUC is ordered. This second module plugs into the auxiliary power connector (AUX ODU PWR).

    3. S2 ACM has a new RJ-45 port with LEDs that emit green and yellow lights as follows:

Green: Activity on the port. Yellow: Collisions on the port. When operating properly, the LEDs display green. Yellow indicates a problem (consult customer support).

    4. S2 ACM identification on the console log as follows:

CACTX Jan 1 00:00:00 :050 2007 Board Type is Linkstar S2 ACM As opposed to the LinkStar IV console message, which looks like the following:

CACTX Jan 1 00:00:00 :410 2006 Board Type is Linkstar IV 5. The tcmp command output in S2 ACM displays the Es/No in dB (see next page).

This Es/No value displays the DVB signal quality at the instant that the tcmp

    Configuration

The S2 ACM factory configuration for DVB (dvb 0) locks to a DVB-S signal. If the outbound carrier is a DVB-S2 waveform, use the save command to configure the terminal for DVB-S2. Reboot the terminal after issuing the savebootparms command.

Other parameters are below (for more information on the above command and other installation guidance, please refer to the RCST Installation Guide at http://extranet.viasat.com/vsat/linkstar/guides/ ).

    save - Usage: savebootparms -pop -c -pcr -f -s -lat -lon -o -t -m
