Catholic Appeal Update
I am very grateful to all those who have contributed to this worthy
cause. We have collected over $20,408 in donations and pledges or
about 89% of our goal of $23,000 as of August 10th. Please consider
supporting our church in this important fund drive to support central
ministries which in turn supports all the parishes of the Archdiocese
of Boston. Envelopes are available at the back of the churches and
donations can also be made online: BostonCatholicAppeal.org.

FAIR FOR ALL SEASONS
The Fair for all Seasons is scheduled for
Saturday November 6th. Crafters who
are interested should contact Eileen
Timcoe at 617-479-4107 or [email protected]. We try
to limit too much duplication of products for variety.
There will be a Fair Committee meeting on August 31st
at 2:30 p.m. at the rectory. Boards will be going up with
items for our large stage raffle. Please select a card, pur-
chase and return the item by September 19th so that it
may be catalogued and ready for the fair. If you don’t see
something on the board, gift cards are always welcomed.
Thank for supporting our parish and the fair.

LIVE TRAINING AVAILABLE FOR ADULTS
The Office of Child Advocacy of the Archdiocese of Boston is
providing ‘live’ weekly PGC training via Zoom through Vir-
tus.org throughout the summer. Anyone who serves in minis-
try or as church volunteer MUST complete this one-time
training. If you have not already completed this training, or
are considering serving our parish in any capacity, this is an
opportunity to complete this training online.
To sign up, go to Virtus.org. Click the ‘Live Training’ tab,
and then select ‘Pre-register for an upcoming live training ses-
sion’ and you will find the schedule for adults to complete the
PGC requirement. You will also see that other live sessions
are being offered throughout the diocese and may choose to
attend one in a parish close to home.
OUR WEEKLY GIVING REPORT
OLGC Adult Choir Returns!
The Adult Choir at Our Lady of Good Counsel returns to the 10:30 Mass on
Sunday, September 19, 2021, after an eighteen-month hiatus. We’re pick-
ing up, dusting ourselves off, and getting ready for the upcoming season. If
you ever thought that you might like to be part of the
choir, now is a good time. Rehearsals are on Thursday
nights at 7:30 in the OLGC chapel and last approximate-
ly an hour. Rehearsals begin September 16
th
. On
Sunday mornings the choir arrives before the 10:30
Mass at OLGC for a brief warm up. If interested, please contact John Fla-
vin, [email protected], Eileen Timcoe, [email protected], speak with any
member of the choir, or simply come to the rehearsal.
HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
Our brothers and sisters in the island nation of Haiti were struck with
another devastating earthquake on August 14th. “Special Collection”
baskets to provide relief to the affected are at all entrances of our
churches. Please donate what you can to help. Thank you.

Mark your calendars! Our Lady is calling us to join her in prayer.
Fall is nearly upon us! It has been a very challenging summer
for the entire world. Despite the many difficulties, a lot of great
work has been accomplished in the parish and our facilities are in
the best shape since I began here over four years ago.
After a couple years of great service to our parish, our maintenance
person, Lee Duffy, is moving on to a full-time position elsewhere.
Due to our financial situation, we have only been able to offer Lee
a part-time position with very limited hours. Even while working
part-time, Lee has done a tremendous amount of work at both
churches, the halls, and the rectory. I am very grateful to him and
wish him every success in the future. If you would like to send Lee
a “thank you” card for his great service, you are welcome to
drop it off at the rectory, mail it in, or even place it in the church
offering boxes and I will see to it that he receives it. Lee will be
greatly missed.
I am also very grateful to the volunteers we have who help keep us
going. If you would like to volunteer to clean or help in the office
or with landscaping, please let me know. There is never a shortage
of work to do in such a large place.
Over the summer, I was glad to get away for nine days to Wyoming
and Montana. The mountains are very refreshing. I find myself
always ready to go back to God's Cathedral as the famous natural-
ist, John Muir, once referred to the mountains.
Blessings,
Fr. Martin
