Series 52 is a coupling of the flexible disctype which is torsionally stable and as suchdoes not cause any torsional fluctuationsbetween motor and compressor.

The flexible discs and the intermediate sec-tion provide the coupling with the necessary

radial and axial flexibility to absorb the mi-nor radial and axial displacement betweenmotor and compressor.

These displacements occur as a conse-quence of the heat and power impactsduring operation.

    Mounting

Assemble coupling as shown on fig. 1 and mount it on the compressor and motor shafts asdescribed in the following:

On mounting, pay attention to the mea-sures C and E in the table.

Before mounting the coupling flange onthe compressor shaft, clean couplingflange, the individual parts in the bushingand the rotor shaft.

Next, lubricate all parts in a little of therefrigerant machine oil. Do not lubricatewith Molybdndisulfid, high-pressure oilor grease.

Assemble bushing as shown on fig. 2 andloosen screws pos. A 1 turn.

In the dismantling holes with threadmount some of the screws pos. A asshown on fig. 3 and adjust by hand sothat the surfaces are even as indicated

    by the mark

Next mount the bushing in the couplingflange and push it right to the bottom as

    shown on fig. 4 marked

Remove screws from the dismantlingholes and remount in the bushing asshown on fig. 2.Tighten screws by hand.

By means of the torque key tighten allscrews crosswise by first tightening with

half the torque moment Ms and then withMs as indicated in the following table:

    SAB 163 Mk2 8 x M8 35SAB 163 B

Repeat the tightening with Ms crosswiseuntil all the screws can be turned nomore.

It is recommended to press on the couplingflange on the motor by means of athreaded rod with nut and tightening bar.If the coupling flange is knocked on, thismay cause damage to the bearings.

Fasten coupling flange to the motor shaftwith pointed screw and tongue/groove con-nection.

In case the coupling is delivered unboredbecause of the motor being unknown at thetime of delivery, the coupling flange mustbe balanced acc. to VDI 2060 Q 6.3 to amax. of 3600 rpm without tongue, but withthe pointed screw.

Dismounting of coupling flangeOn dismounting the coupling flange fromthe compressor shaft apply the followingprocedure:

Loosen screws pos. A a few turns.

Mount screws pos. A in the dismantlingholes and tighten evenly crosswise untilthe two taper rings have been pressedapart and have loosened the couplingflange from the shaft.

Now take out coupling flange with bush-ing by hand.

Dismantling of couplingOn dismantling the coupling it is importantto note the position of bolts, washers, andnuts as they must be fitted again in the sameorder. Tie a string or a piece of threadthrough one of the bolt holes in the couplingdiscs in order to avoid that the plates areturned in relation to each other and in rela-tion to the flange.

Mounting of coupling Mount the two coupling flanges as de-scribed earlier. Pay attention to the mea-sure E as shown in the tabel.

Mount motor and compressor and secureto the base frame as described in theinstruction manual.Check distance C as shown in the tabel.

Mount the coupling intermediate sectionsand the two flexible discs and securewith the bolts as shown on fig. 1. Thetorque moment is shown in the table.

However, do not mount the bolts that se-cure the flexible discs to the motor flangeuntil the alignment has been completedas described in the instruction manual.
