Dear Folks,

My Winter Survival Fall Fertilizer provides nutrients to help make your lawn thicker and greener than ever before, while preparing the lawn for Winter. Your lawn will stay greener, longer into the year, and will provide better green-up next Spring, too. Winter Survival can be used on all grass types.

Conditions are ideal in the Fall for feeding since the soil is warm, adequate moisture is usually present, and the nights are cooler allowing grass to grow and thicken. Grass plants spread and thicken to help fill in bare spots caused by summer damage, and some nutrients are stored within the grass plant to green-up your lawn next spring.

DIRECTIONS FOR USEFeeding Established Lawns

Apply Winter Survival Fall Fertilizer from late Summer through Fall. For lawns damaged by Summer drought, insects, wear or disease, apply in early Fall and again 6 weeks later to fill in and thicken your lawn even more. Winter Survival Fertilizer can be applied with my MAG-I-CAL on the same day. Fertilizer should be applied when the grass is dry. You may re-enter the area immediately after application. Rainfall or watering after application will hasten results. Your lawn should become greener in 1 to 3 weeks with results varying according to weather conditions.

Seeding LawnsJonathan Green’s Winter Survival Fall Fertilizer is ideal to use with a Fall seeding. Apply over the entire lawn area when planting a new lawn or over-seeding an established lawn to get new seedlings off to a great start. On new lawns, apply fertilizer and work it into the top 2 to 3 inches of soil prior to applying grass seed. An application of my MAG-I-CAL can also be helpful at this time. Apply all products in any order, on the same day. Watering the lawn after applying helps to activate the feeding process.

FOR THE BEST LAWN IN TOWNMow at a height of 2-1⁄2 to 3 inches; it will help roots grow deeper and allow your lawn to handle drought and heat stresses better. If possible, leave your clippings on the lawn, this keeps the nutrients in the soil which reduces fertilizer needs. Lastly, water properly - only about 1 inch per week is needed during the growing season from natural rainfall or watering.

For best results, apply in a circular path starting on the outside and working toward the center. A little overlap of product will ensure completecoverage.

First, apply 2 border strips along the edge of each end of the lawn,overlapping slightly and shutting off the spreader before turning as you reach the edge of the border strips.

The following settings are approximate for applying contents of this package at a suggested rate of 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Settings are based on an average walking speed. Reduce setting for slower speed; raise setting for higher speed. Check your spreader on 250 square feet and adjust to apply at the rate of .75 pounds per 250 square feet. Close the spreader opening when turning, stopping, or refilling.
