The Present Challenge: Trans-Generational Leadership Change

“The people served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel...After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel” (Judges 2: 7,10 NIV).

The Church Of God Of Prophecy Serious Transition Since 1991

The First phase of the transition dealt with some very serious theological/doctrinal and government issues that needed some adjustment and re-alignment.

I believe we are in a Second phase of transition which could be more serious and dangerous than the first phase.

It is no secret that in many areas of the world we are “age heavy”. This means that in a rather short period of time there will be a major “leadership transition to another generation” which will transfer the DNA and Ethos of this church.

33

The Paramount Question Is What DNA And Ethos Will Be Transferred?

Challenges can be both crisis and opportunity. When new challenges arise, it is a good sign that

a new paradigm is emerging and that the “ground has sifted”.

In such a state of affairs it does matter what strategies are developed in order to address the needs and demands of the new paradigm.

44

Core Values

The course of action to identify the core values of the COGOP is timely and highly advisable.

One of the Core Values that has been identified is Spiritual Biblical Leadership.

The Center for Biblical Leadership has been given the privilege to develop a new paradigm relative to Spiritual Biblical Leadership Development.

55

The Three Streams Of Biblical Leadership Development

1. School of Practical and Advanced Studies

2. Gordon-Conwell / COGOP Consortium 3. Regent COGOP Partnership

66

1. SCHOOL OF PRACTICAL AND ADVANCED STUDIES

1. School of Practical and Advanced Studies– This is in response to the many who have

stated in writing and orally that something like Bible Training Institute is needed

– CBL has proposed a program, which we are calling the School of Practical and Advanced Studies.

77

The School Will Have At Least Three Terms

It will not have test as in the former model of BTI

It will have suggested reading assignments per term.

Each certificate of completion will have a special emblem attached to it for those who fulfill the reading assignments. The certificate for first term will be bronze, second term silver and the third term gold.

88

Curriculum For The First Two Terms
