The Avenue – Ownership of the Problem

Site owned and operated by British Coal

1992 - Following closure site managed by British Coal Property

1996 - site passed with MOU to cover costs of liabilities from DTi (now DECC) to English Partnerships to become part of the National

Coalfields Programme

1999 - site passed to The East Midlands Development Agency as part of the National Coalfields Programme to be delivered regionally

by RDAs for English partnerships

Emda as landowner is responsible for the health and safety and environmental liabilities attached to the site
