Achievements 2002/2003• Expansion of national park system
– Purchases through Govt funding, Park Development fund,, National Parks Trust, and NGO donations & sponsorships
• Addo, Marakele, Agulhas, Cape Peninsula (add 40,000ha @R26,4m)• Financial position strengthened
– Increased rev generation & increased Govt Contribution & roads Subsidy = positive bottom line
– Product diversification-4x4 trails, day walks, bush braais, tented camps, bush camps, multi-tiered accommodation at Addo.

2. Improving SANParks financial position
• Effective tourism management:– Pricing, loyalty card, yield management,
service delivery– Develop vigorous marketing strategy– Management of PPPs

3. Conservation Constituency Building programme
– Creating awareness about nature & conservation– Long-term, multi-stakeholder effort. Private sector
involvement/sponsorship of youth visits to parks for environmental experience.
– Spearheaded by SANParks through Director Conservation Constituency Building
– Improve profile of black park visitors*School childrens’ programme eg Morula Kids, Imbewu*Advocating curriculum changes to include nature education.*Neighbouring community visitor programme*LSM 6 - 8 sponsored visits
