Open DIALux by double clicking on the red DIALux 4.13

icon on your computer desktop. (Assuming, DIALux 4.13 is

already installed on your desktop)

The DIALux 4.13 Light gives a much faster lighting

design and computation job, which will be discussed fully

in a subsequent manual. It is for regular rectangular

shaped rooms without all the paraphernalia of furnishings

and stuffs.

On double clicking the red DIALux 4.13 icon at the top, a page as shown below will be opened. This

is the DIALux design page.

Click on the icon “New Interior Project”, which of course

this tutorial manual is based on. Clicking this will reveal the

starting interface where the room dimensions can be fed.

Notice that for this interface, the dimensions are in feet’s. This

will be changed into a suitable SI unit to suit our dimensions

which mostly appear in meters.

In order to commence changing the dimensions, click on “OK” button highlighted in blue at the

bottom left hand corner of the page as shown below. Remember our aim here is to change the

dimensions and load in other necessary data that you would want appear in the finished work of your

project.

On clicking

the said

“OK”

button, this

page will

appear

where you

will be

required to

type in

details of the

project on

the left hand

corner e.g.

the “Name”

you wish to

assign the

room and the

“Descriptio

n” of the

room.

After that, place your cursor on “Project 1” and right click, a drop down box will appear, scroll down

(or up) the box and choose “Rename”, in order to highlight the “Project 1” so that it can be renamed

by you as appropriate.

After inputting the required information’s, we are now ready to commence changing the

instructions such as the dimensions, contact details and so on.

Note: On first opening your DIALux design wizard, information’s you load will not affect

existing outputs, they will only be visible in new outputs. This is why we had to go through

this stage.

left-hand

corner of

the page

and a drop

down to

“Settings”

drop down

box appear

then you

click on

“General

options”

to display

this page

as seen

here.

On the topmost corner of the newly opened dialogue box, choose “Global” to change the

“Language”, the way you “start a new project” and the “SI UNIT”. In this case, we only changed

the dimensions from “feet” to “meters” and the lighting luminance and density to “lx”.

Note, do not click on the highlighted “OK” button yet until you are done making changes to all

information’s you require. Or else you may have to start all over again to get to this page.

Click on the “Output” at the topmost corner of the page to reveal a set of boxes requiring your

information’s like your company “Logo”, “Footer: Stands for what you want displayed on the footer

of the output of your design project”, “Header: Stands for what you want displayed on the header of

the output of your design project”, “Partner for Contact”, “Order no. or LPO no.”, “Company”,

“Customer No.” and “Telephone contact.” Fill in the information’s as best known to you.

Note, do not click on the highlighted “OK” button yet until you are done making changes to all

information’s you require. Or else you may have to start all over again to get to this page.

For the sake of this tutorial, I had to quickly design

a company logo for myself, which I will upload for

this projects output.

This page shows the

filled “Output” and your

company “logo” already

uploaded in the required

fields.

Note, do not click on the

highlighted “OK” button

yet until you are done

making changes to all

information’s you

require. Or else you may

have to start all over

again to get to this page.

Next is the “Contact”,

click on this to reveal

another page where your

needed contacts as the

designer will be required,

so that referrals can

easily access you.

Fill in the required

details on this page, just

as you would want it

appear on the final

output.

The page appearing by

the side is “Contact”

page filled with the

required details. These

details will appear on

the final output.

You may now click on

the highlighted “OK”

button, after going

through the “Energy

Evaluation” page,

“Window” page and the

“Rooflights” page and

making your required

changes to them.

Clicking the highlighted

“OK” button effects the

changes made. Now the

DIALux can be closed,

and a fresh DIALux

project opened to start

your main project. This

will have all the newly

fed details attached to it.
