Unjust Destruction of the Canaanites?

• God was patient with the Canaanite nations (Gen. 15:13-16) • The Canaanites were completely

• Their gods “El” and “Baal” were presented as brutal and sexually perverse

• Sex was an idol (Dt. 23:18-19) • The people were brutally corrupt and child

sacrifice was prevalent • The Bible presents the Canaanites as

completely corrupt (Lev. 18:1-28)

Unjust Destruction of the Canaanites?

• God was patient with the Canaanite nations (Gen. 15:13-16)

• Their destruction was for the moral preservation of Israel (Dt. 20:18-19)

WHY WERE CHILDREN INCLUDED IN THESE DESTRUCTIONS?

• CHILDREN OFTEN SUFFER FROM PARENT’S BAD DECISIONS (Gal. 6:7)

• HOW WERE THE ISRAELITES TO DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN THE INNOCENT AND THE GUILTY?

WHY WERE CHILDREN INCLUDED IN THESE DESTRUCTIONS?
