With today's jobs, one at least needs a high school education to be employed. Sports are actually an indirect way to help kids get through high school with better marks. Harlem RBI, a softball program in New York reported that their age specific program helps with those topics. The REAL Kids afterschool program for 10- 12 year olds had 86% of the kids improve or maintain their reading scores. While 92% of REAL Kids said they like reading more. Also 90% said they tried harder in school. Furthermore, another division of Harlem RBI is called DreamWorks, which provides college prep, had 100% of the kids go to college. Also, 85% of TEAMWORKS, which provides academic support, job readiness activities and summer jobs for 15-16 years take iniative to solve problems. To justify my reasoning, high school athletes in North Carolina had made higher grades, graduated at a higher rate and dropped out less often and have higher GPAs.
