    INTRODUCTION

    NBNC1204 Clinical Practice 10 focuses on General Practicum focusing on Professionalism andIssues in Nursing that is implemented in the students own ward or area of practice. You willcontinue to work in your organization and your official working hours will be considered as practicumhours. Your learning will take place as you work because you need to apply more of the theory thatyou have learnt into your work tasks. You DO NOT need a Clinical Preceptor in the clinical practice.

    You need to be self-directed in implementing your learning activities with support from your face-to-face tutor for the subject of NBBS1203 Professionalism and Issues in Nursing B.

    COURSE OBJECTIVES

    At the end of this course, students will be able to:

    1. identify professional issues / practices in clinical areas.

    2. recommend practical suggestions to overcome the professional issues.

    3. discuss the challenges in achieving professionalisation in Malaysia.

    4. discuss the expanded and extended roles in nursing.

    ASSESSMENT METHOD

    The assessment for NBNC1204 Clinical Practice 10 consists of these components:

    The nursing profession has evolved from its traditional roles over the years with theadvancement of nursing education and confidence of nurses with their practice. The scopeof nursing practice has expanded and extended beyond its traditional professionalboundary in an effort to provide a more holistic nursing care and comprehensive healthservices.

    i) Based on the above statement, discuss the contemporary issues in nursing withregards to expanded and extendedroles of nursing that you may identify in yourarea of practice or according to your own professional nursing interest.e.g. Expanded and ExtendedRoles of Oncology Nurse
