Franklin Grand Isle Community Action seeks a Community Services Worker / VITA Tax Coordinator to coordinate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. The VITA Program provides free federal and state income tax preparation for low income Franklin and Grand Isle households from February 1st through April 15th. This position is responsible for coordinating and organizing the overall effort for the VITA Program; assisting and advocating for low income individuals and families seeking assistance with basic needs and to determine eligibility for various Community Action programs and services and maintaining technical knowledge of federal and state tax preparation.
Successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline plus two years of community service experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired. Accounting or income tax preparation experience is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, computer, verbal and written communication skills are essential. A Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. This is a 20 hours/week full year position with excellent benefits. Starting salary is $15.50 per hour.

PBM Nutritionals, LLC, a Perrigo Company, of Georgia, Vermont, has submitted an application
to the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (Agency) for recertification of a solid waste
management facility, which includes a 695,000 gallon storage and stabilization tank, a
1,000,000 gallon high density polyethylene (HDPE) lined emergency storage lagoon, one (1)
biosolids belt filter press for dewatering, and one (1) steam heated paddle dryer for biosolids
drying. Biosolids will be conveyed from the dryer to a hopper van. Biosolids/fertilizer is then
transferred to another commercial vehicle for transport to commercial fertilizer manufacturing
facilities operated by others. The Agency has determined that the application is administratively
complete. The second opportunity for public comment occurs when the Agency has completed
its technical review, determined that it demonstrates compliance with the SWMR (effective June
12, 2006) and prepared a fact sheet and draft certification. Application material draft copies are
available for public inspection during normal business hours, and the Department will accept
comments through 4:30 p.m. from January 11, 2012 through January 26, 2012 at the address
provided below. The applicant, the SWMP for Georgia, Vermont, the SWIP for Franklin and
Grand Isle Counties, District 6 Environmental Commission and Georgia, Vermont will be
provided with the application materials, fact sheet and draft certification, and notice of both
comment periods.
A public informational meeting can be called for the second public comment period by petition of
twenty-five (25) or more residents of the Town of Georgia, by request of the governing body of
the Town of Georgia, or at the discretion of the Agency. Petitions or requests for a public
