About this Tool / Spreadsheet

In accordance with WSDOT Policy:Design Approval and Project Development Approval remain valid for 3 years (See DM 300.04)

How to use this spreadsheet

With this information, the designer and ASDE should be able to determine what, if anything, warrants a redesign in the project.

.

This tool helps designers update a previously shelved project to current WSDOT design policy. The tool is designed so that someone with a sound working knowledge of the project can use it to identify and evaluate Design Manual changes that have occurred since the time project approvals were granted or since the project was shelved.

Evaluate policy changes or revised design criteria that are adopted by the department during this time to determine if these changes would have a significant impact on the scope or schedule of the project.

To use this tool, select the workbook tab below representing your Design Manual date or dates of interest. The spreadsheet rows list each Design Manual chapter, the major sections, and exhibits. The columns show revision dates and types. The most current Design Manual Chapter/Section/Exhibits listing is found in the Tab named "Nov 2015 ahead". If you have questions, contact the HQ Design Office 360-705-7299 for assistance.

Click on the "+" or "-" signs along the left side of the spreadsheets to expand or collapse grouped data, for viewing revision codes for the major subsections as well as figures.

For individual Design Manual chapters:

• The cells containing an "X" indicate a chapter (or a section) with a policy change as a result of a revision. Changes of lesser significance are presented with a variety of other notes or comments added to the cells.

• For consideration of redesign, focus on those rows containing an "X". Compare those chapter policy revisions with the scope of the project to determine which chapters warrant a more in-depth review.

Note: The November 2015 Design Manual Revision Package was significant in that new Practical Design content was added, replacing the prior design matrix content. For this reason a new tab was created for "Nov 2015 ahead". Future revisions will be highlighted in this most current worksheet.
