Minutes of Annual Meeting - November 4, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 7:18 pm

Joel opened in prayer, then read from Acts chapter 2. He gave a reminder that we should be God’s people.

Agenda approved.

Minutes approved.

Elder Board Nominees presented. Joel went over what the attributes of Elders should be. Affirmation of Ray Wimsett and Ken Rodrigues, who they are, and things they’ve done for the church. Marc McNeil prayed for them.

Nominees for 2013 Nominating Committee: Rita McBride, Cliff Rose, Jeff Mathews, Beth Mattsson-Boze’, Steve Murray. Everyone voted. Ballots collected. 2 to be chosen. Motion to close, motion made, seconded, and it is closed. Joel gave a brief overview on when he would need to meet with them during the year.

Budget and Financial Report from Miguel Padilla: Miguel gave thanks for being able to serve as Treasurer for the last 5 years, and next year will be his last. No significant changes, except the income at the top has slightly changed to offset janitorial expenses, which will be absorbed by King’s Kids and Stellar. Cost of business insurance has been renegotiated, as has our copier lease. We’ve been seeing a good trend with our general offerings. Still not meeting projected figures. Year to date through September, we’re in the black by $11,000, by keeping expenses down. Ministries have not spent their budgets, so we should end up about $5,000 in the black. Facility accrual, anticipating year to date, $61,000. Right now we’re at $23,800. Some of these figures will be subject to changed based upon Youth and Children’s Ministry restructuring. Budget approved.

Joel talked about 2011-2012. Men’s Retreats- Men’s Retreats are a great opportunity to grow in Christ. Celebrate Recovery- Doing great. The numbers continue to grow. People are still utilizing the group well. Small Groups- Going strong. Small groups are essential for growing and maturing in Christ.

Nominating Committee Confirmed: Rita McBride and Steve Murray.

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 5

Christmas Program: Candy Alcosiba is doing an excellent job. Children’s Ministry: Doing great. They are more organized. We want that to be the best hour in a kid’s week! Youth Ministry: Nick Rodrigues has been hired part time, and he’s really stepping up and doing good work. Junior High Ministry: Junior High Ministry Leaders just came back from a Youth Ministry Conference. We need to continue to support these leaders. Children’s Choir: Great opportunities for outreach to these kids. JoJo is doing a great job, and has a great heart for the job. The kids also do a great job sharing the gospel through music. The Slum Children Project is also done through the choir, which is an awesome opportunity for outreach to make sure basic needs are met.

Looking Forward: The Elders have been reading “A Purpose Driven Church.” They are listening to what God is saying to them. God led them to the changing of our purpose statement, which is now, “Neighborhood Church is a place of changed lives as we love God, love others and serve the world. Love God: That is part of our Sunday morning, worship, sound, etc. The Worship Planning Team will play a big part in making that better and more dynamic, once the team members are finalized. To reach lost people, the message needs to be clear, powerful and evident everywhere. Love Others: Serve in the church lovingly and help others to grow in Christ. Serve the World: Look for areas outside of the church to serve others and impact their lives. Missionary work. We have an opportunity to partner with missionaries, whether it be physical, financial, or both. We need to train high school students, to help continue their excitement and enthusiasm. We can also take college students and move them into theological training and leader internships.

Missions Trip to India in February: Joel, Vince, JoJo and someone else going, whom has yet to be determined. Other mission trips are being discussed, but nothing decided yet.

It was voted in the last Elder’s Board Meeting to hire a Youth and Children’s Ministry leader. Our desire is to do an excellent job and care for these children. There are still some things to iron out. Please pray for this process.

Youth Ministry, we have Nick. We’re still working some things out. Please pray for God’s leadership in these things. God is moving in our church. We need to be ready to grow in all ways, and in all areas.

Lindsey is doing great work. He will become full time once he completes his ordination

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 6

Rich is also doing great work. Please pray for all the things they need to do to get ready for the Ukraine.

Wednesday Nights: We meet and pray. Prayer is necessary for God’s people. Lost people matter to God. How are we reaching lost people for Jesus?

There are many things to do this year. There is a sense of renewal in the church. What is God asking us to do? Our purpose statement is, “Neighborhood Church is a place of changed lives, as we love God, love others and serve the world.” We need to keep that before us.

Questions:

Barbara Marques: Needs a copy of the bylaws, and has trouble hearing people if they don’t use the microphone.

Lisa Mathews: Asked about the hiring of the Youth and Children’s Ministry people. There will be one leader per ministry. There are requirements to be met, but they don’t necessarily need to be pastors. This process is being discussed by the Elders.

JoJo McCoy: Do we have funds to repair and improve our sound system? As we update our sound system, we should think about streaming video for our nursery and foyer. This would be very beneficial to families with small children. Also, the Junior High students seem to be wandering around during second service. They may not want to be in the sanctuary, so is there a group or class that could be implemented for them during that time? Funds in Worship Ministry have not been spent. They could be used for updating equipment. That process will include the Worship Planning Team.

Sue Brown: Teen parenting class has been very successful in secular schools. There is a huge need for this class to expand. Let’s get it out there.

Steve Murray: Wanted to know if we could get a worship director. That will be discussed by the Elder Board, but Joel would like to have a Children’s Ministry leader in place first.

James Jenkins: Wanted to know if we have a 5 year outlook plan for the church. It’s been done before, to some degree. We are now consulting with Phil Barton in a project pertaining to that.

Motion to close the meeting. Joel closed in prayer at 8:33 pm. Meeting adjourned.

Nominating Committee Report 2013Members of the nominating committee are: Rita McBride, Steve Murray, Miguel Padilla, and Joel Mattsson-Bozé.We reviewed the members and those eligible for becoming elders. In the process we discovered that we have a good selection of men who are stepping up, becoming more godly and moving toward elder material. We recommend that Joel take these men and specifically develop them to become elders. We chose two men and then asked them if they were willing to let their names stand as nominees for elder. Both agreed. The two nominees for elder are:Cliff Rose - He is a current elder, having come on this past year in place of James Jenkins who moved out of the area. He is willing to let his name stand for another 3 year term.Ray Hess - He has been an elder in the past. He responded enthusiastically to our request that he let his name stand as a nominee for elder.

Senior Pastor's Report 2013

This year I believe God has led me to this simple focus. "The ABC's". The ABC's stand for Alpha, Bethel, Celebrate Recovery, and Small Groups (for the’s). Let me explain a bit further.AlphaAlpha represents our evangelistic focus. We must be about evangelism, reaching people for Christ. A church that does not reach people for Christ, that does not have this as their priority, is not a church. Jesus has all authority, as he said in Matthew 28:19. Therefore he gets to say what we are to do. And he says, "Make Disciples." That is the focus. Making disciples begins with people who do not know Christ as their Savior and Lord. We get out and reach lost people for Christ. Alpha is an evangelistic course. It takes everyone attending through the gospel and encourages them to make a commitment to Christ. Our current Alpha focus is led by Miguel Padilla. God led him into this focus. He is excited to work with Lindsey to make this evangelistic effort grow and work well in our church. I want everyone in our church to go through Alpha. It's kind of like going back to the basics. Some need to go because they are not saved. Some need to go because they need reminder of the basics, what Christ has done for us. Some need to go because they need to renew their commitments to Christ. And some need to go because they need to see this gospel presentation and be better prepared to invite others to this course.Alpha is not our only gospel focus. We want to share the gospel regularly, everywhere. We want to be gospel focused, not Alpha focused. And Alpha helps us get there.BethelBethel represents our teaching focus. We need to be Biblically literate. We need to know the scriptures. God gave us his word. He instructs us, corrects us, grows us. The main way we know and follow God is through his word. Bethel is a foundational class for those who want to become Biblically literate, who want to know God's word. There is more to learn after Bethel, but it is a great start. It will help people read the Bible at home, get more out of sermons, grow more in small groups through the Bible study time, and have more ability to communicate the gospel.Tim Hood has championed Bethel here at Neighborhood Church for a long time. He teaches the Bethel class, at least the challenging one. There is also a congregational Bethel class that is less challenging. I would like everyone to take Bethel. You will get grounded in God's word.

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 10

There is more learning of the scriptures than just Bethel. From Bethel, you can take other classes. Ray Wimsett teaches some of these. We want you to dive in to God's word. The goal is not more knowledge, but more obedience, a deeper heart for God. But knowledge is important.

Celebrate RecoveryCelebrate Recovery represents our healing process. People need to be healed. Many people have struggles, or, as Celebrate Recovery says, Hurts, Habits, and Hang-ups. These cause problems in our lives and keep us from following Christ the way we ought to. These problems keep us from the life Jesus intends us to have and live out.Celebrate Recovery brings people into a group meeting where they interact with other who are in the same process. Here are a bunch of people who have raised their hand and said, "I blew it and I am in trouble." That is a very hard thing to say. And they are working through the process to be healed of these difficulties. Our God is a healing God. He heals and restores. As we work through the Biblical processes outlined in Celebrate Recovery we can find freedom in Christ from those hurts, habits, and hang-ups. We can then move on to be all that Christ wants us to be.Jeff and Lisa Mathews have led this ministry for a long time. They have a team of leaders who come alongside them and this ministry. People have moved through this process and been healed and people are moving through it now.Celebrate Recovery is not our only healing ministry. We have prayer teams up front after church. We have people who pray for others. We are looking to find the Holy Spirit's power to provide healing for people. We have counseling going on. Celebrate Recovery acts as the point person for this ministry of healing in our church.Small GroupsSmall groups represent our discipleship. Small groups are the way people grow the most. When someone attends a small group they enter into relationships with some other believers. They experience community. Jesus shows up in that community. They get a chance to share their struggles. They pray together. They read the scriptures together. They serve together. They build friendships. Those are the tools of discipleship. Small groups have leaders. These leaders oversee the members of the small groups. They pray for their members. They care for their members. They look for God's movement among their people and encourage it. In a word, they pastor these people. That's discipleship.I want everyone to be a part of a small group. Every one of these other ministries, Alpha, Bethel, and Celebrate Recovery, can act as a small group for you. But, one way or another, you need to be in a small group. If you are serious about growing in Jesus, a small group is your vehicle. You learn to pray

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 11

in a small group, and worship, and study God's word, and care for others, and evangelize, and serve.Small groups are not the only discipleship tool. But it is, by far, the most important one. So those are the ABC's. Alpha, Bethel, Celebrate Recovery and Small Groups. It's fairly simple and straight forward. But it won't be easy. Step into this process and become the believer God wants you to be. And let's become the church God wants us to be.Sincerely, Joel Mattsson-BozéSenior Pastor, Neighborhood Church

Treasurer’s Report - October 2013

The Elder board continues to seek God’s guidance when making any decisions to upcoming changes and this year has shaped up to be no different from past years. We have seen Pastor Rich Todd and Kings Kids Carol Brumley step down and Pastor Lindsey Alcosiba ordained with Heather Leyva hired as our new Kings Kids Director. Your Elder board has also heard the concerns about our youth and children’s ministries. Now we have Nick Rodrigues and Laura Haas leading these ministries. We also have Jodi Alba as our new church secretary. All of these changes have had a direct impact on our finances and I believe your Elder board has responded well. The Elder board and staff continue to look for ways that will enable us to stay as efficient as possible with our day to day operations. In an effort to streamline our financial reporting between CBNC and Kings Kids a recommendation was made to and approved by the Elder board. Because of inefficiencies the Elder board has decided to bring back Kings Kids financial reporting into CBNC’s overall budget. This decision was not taken lightly and the final go ahead was not made until we heard the opinions of Kings Kids advisory group, past treasurer Howard Knutson, accountants Lisa Madsen and Debbie Klosky. As a result of this decision the 2013/2014 budget has now taken a different look.We still have some challenges concerning our finances and, I believe, God is still testing us. Based on the last 9 months (Dec – Aug) our average monthly giving to the general fund was $35,596 which is $1,129 less than our projected amount of $36,725. We ended the month of August with an approximate deficit balance of $12,481 year to date. Some of the reasons for this deficit are due to the changes in personnel and higher than expected utilities. Our facilities continue to be used with the Vietnamese and Chinese churches still meeting here. We also have Stellar Academy and King’s Kids Preschool; all making good use of the facility God has entrusted to us. We are blessed to still have Stellar Academy using our space. Their attendance continues to be an issue but with our prayers and God’s blessings we are hopeful that their situation will continue to improve. Monthly rental donations for 2013/2014 are projected to be $4,745 which is a significant reduction from last year’s budget. Now that we have brought back Kings Kids budget into CBNC’s their rent is no longer shown as income. How time flies! Six years ago I was asked to serve as an Elder and provide oversight & stewardship over our finances here at CBNC. Initially I was hesitant and felt inadequate for the position but God’s Spirit reassured me that this was part of his plan. Together we have gone through six long years of lean times. As your Elder and treasurer I’ve been placed in numerous situations where unpopular and hard recommendations needed to be made. My hope and prayer as I step down from this position is that our overall financial picture continues to

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 13

improve as our economy heals and with God’s blessings we continue to meet our financial obligations.

It’s been an honor serving God and you as an Elder and I believe that our incoming treasurer Marc McNeil will be a good steward. As always your input or questions are welcomed and we pray that God continues to lead us and bless us in the area of our finances.Your Brother In Christ,Miguel Padilla / Treasurer

King’s Kids Preschool - Annual Budget Report 2013

“…but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.” Psalms 32:10. Being surrounded by God’s unfailing love is a wonderful place to be. He is my strength, my hope, and my joy. I am utterly humbled by the responsibility of shepherding the ministry that is King’s Kids Preschool. What a wonderful thing CBNC does for the community by caring for those “little ones” close to our Savior’s heart. I am confident that God is able to do far more than I can ask or even imagine. “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19. ‘New things’, transition, change—words that can trigger doubt, fear or resistance. If our confidence is based in our own limited abilities, talents, and resources we have valid reasons to be afraid. When we instead base our confidence in the limitless providence of God, the one who says: “I am the Lord, and I do not change.” Malachi 3:6, we can walk with complete assurance. Our only responsibility is to obey and we can leave the outcome up to God. New leadership, new students, and different classes are all a part of our continuing ‘changed lives’ story here at KKP. Retiling the hallway bathrooms and upgrading the playground swing set were some of last year’s accomplished goals. I am excited to see a deepening relationship between CBNC’s Children’s Ministries and King’s Kids Preschool. I can only imagine what more God has in store for us this year! Continue to pray for the teachers, staff, Advisory Board, and my leadership, as we walk together down the path God has for us this year. We can’t do this well without your support!Respectively Submitted, Heather Leyva, Preschool Director

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Benevolent Ministry - Annual Report 2013

MISSION: TO MEET THE FELT NEEDS OF THE NEEDYMATT. 25:40, The King will reply “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”ANNUAL REPORT 2013I have been so blessed to be a part of the Benevolent Team and an honor to oversee the funds that this congregation allows us to share with the needy. With the encouraging leadership of our elder Marc McNeil, Jeff Mathews, Hector Alba, Lisa Mathews and I have meet with many this year that needed a little boost to help them get past the challenges our economic times have brought. We have helped with rental deposits so one could rent a place for their family, we have helped with cell phone bills so one could continue to look for work, we have helped pay for a car repair so one could continue to go work, we have helped with utility bills, we helped some families by offering complimentary meals at our Gathering Corner so they can bring their families and be ministered to in their spiritual need. It is exciting to see God bless some of these families in return as they are faithful to Him. Most of all we always take the time to share Jesus and prayer for the needs that come to us.This team so appreciates the giving this congregation does on the second Sunday each month and consider each request feeling the responsibility that you gave us. God bless each of you for your share in this ministry.Humbly SubmittedBecky Bryant

Children’s Ministry - Annual Impact 2013

Our mission is to:Foster Christ-centered life change in children by teaching them who God is and providing them with opportunities to follow Him.The children’s ministry team has been pressing forward to seek a clear and focused vision from the Lord. At the start of 2013 our previous Pastor of Student Ministries helped usher in a new Children’s Ministry Director. With a director in place since April the ministry has been able to gain consistent momentum. There is a growing cohesiveness with the volunteer team as communication and open feedback have become a welcomed part of the culture. They have had an active voice in program structure and curriculum selections. We are moving into a model that helps balance the volunteer’s need for giving and service with their need for receiving. The desire is that through service in this ministry volunteers will grow in encouragement, fellowship and discipleship. The volunteer ministers are also receiving greater in-class material support– which enables them to put more focus where it belongs; teaching and ministering directly to the children. Specific trainings are coming later this month to address some of the felt needs including ministering with age development in mind, as well as the special needs and learning styles of the children.Bridges between Grace of God Alliance Church and Kings Kids Preschool are widening. And the deaf community is working within the ministry to help develop the Sunday School Program. By caring better for one another and being flexible with solutions we are seeing progress towards healthier ministry to the children and families in our joint efforts. To foster the church – home connection we have been utilizing resources in personal relationships (group activities and individual connections), technology, print materials, follow-up and planning trainings. Our focus is to continue to grow in modeling and encouraging ministry within the family. We have also partnered on a new level with the Outreach Team. The hope is to heighten the cross-generational ministry and provide opportunities for children to follow Christ in service projects alongside their parents and other adult teams. Special Programs Update: VBS – this year 100 children were in attendance (with an active waiting list). About 20% of the children were from un-church families and we ministered to some of the Stellar student as well. It ran successfully with a 40+ volunteer team. Many of the children made decisions to follow Christ during the VBS gospel time. We have continued relationships with a few of the new families that attended. Mt. Gilead: The congregation provided scholarships for 10 of the 13 campers. This preteen camp served as an important corner stone for the children in their

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 21

spiritual growth. It also provided a great opportunity for leadership training to the 3 counselors who attended from CBNC.

Angel Children’s Choir: We are grateful for the ministry opportunities to the Angel Children’s Choir and the joint outreach events to the community. This part of the children’s ministry is one of the greatest tools the Lord has used this year to connect the Children’s Ministry into the community. In conjunction with Outreach Ministry: Newark Days Parade had a large participation. Family Movie Nights are continuing. Christmas Play is coming in December.Thank you for your continued prayers and support for this vital ministry. Please pray for us as we press forward in the Lord for a stronger and healthier ministry. For His Kingdom,Laura

Community Outreach/Worship – Annual Report 2013I’m excited to see all the wonderful things our GREAT GOD continues to do using Neighborhood Church to accomplish His purpose and plan. I love our vision, “Neighborhood Church is a place of changed lives as we LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS, and SERVE THE WORLD.” This new vision gives us clarity in the direction we need to be moving in the multiple ministries that God has given us to do. Here are a few highlights from the past year:

OUTREACH1. Global Community Outreach: Here are some of the CBNC short term missions’ team highlights from this last calendar year:

San Francisco Missions: We had a Missions work day with Pastor Bob Boston and the SFAM church in August. We passed out invites to the church and did some clean up in the surrounding neighborhood.

India Missions: Pastor Joel headed off to India once again to do some Pastoral Leadership Training with The Herald of Faith. Jo Jo McCoy and Lisa Madsen joined Joel this year.

Mexico Missions: Youth Pastor Nick headed a team to the Mexicali area. We helped at a CMA Envision sight doing construction and helping at one of the local churches.

Missions Emphasis Speakers. Our guest Missionaries did a wonderful job. This year we had two speakers; Jo Jo McCoy and Lisa Madsen did a great job sharing their trip to India and the impact the trip had in their lives and the impact they made for Jesus in India.

2. Local Community Outreach: There are some really exciting things happening in this arena of outreach.

Mark 1 Ministry - Mark 1 Ministry develops “Barn Door Events” or “Fishing Pond Events.” Our mission is to “Introduce our community to Jesus Christ and to give the church body of CBNC and opportunity to invite their family, friends, and co-workers to a low stress level church event.” Here are some of the events from the past year: Thanksgiving Potluck-We had over 200 people attend! The Children’s Christmas play- Another great time of bringing family and friends together. The Fourth of July BBQ- We had 150 people at this great time of Fellowship and Fireworks. Family Camp at Dell Valle, Basketball camp, Car Show and Chili Cook Off where we had over 40 cars entered, and our latest event-Harvest Festival.

Service Projects - Rita McBride has been getting our church to serve in the local community. Here are some of the ways we have served this year: Newark Memorial H.S. clean up, Newark Jr. High Beautification project, Bunker Elementary School Beautification project, Newark National

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 23

Little League service day, helped at various non-profit events. Here are other ways we have served our community: We delivered Thanksgiving Boxes for needy families, Gave Christmas presents through Operation Christmas Child and the Tree of Hope program, We gave backpacks and school supplies to Bunker Elementary for needy families, Collected shoes for Compassion Network’s “Shoe Closet” program.

Newark Days Parade - This continues to be a fantastic venue for our Church to have contact with our community. We had over 150 people participate this year-We all had an “AWESOME” time ministering to the crowd. Jo Jo McCoy and Laura Haas led the children’s choir and Phil Barton headed up the “AWESOME” volunteers.

Children’s focused Outreach - Here are some highlights from the last year; Christmas Play, Tree of Hope Christmas presents, 4th of July BBQ, Vacation Bible School, Back Pack/School Supply for Bunker Elementary, Monthly Friday Family Night Movie, Newark Days Parade, Basketball Camp, Harvest Festival.

3. In House: These ministries are run within the walls of our Church, but are still used to minister to our Guests as an introduction to Jesus Christ.

1st Impressions team - The 1st Impressions team, led by Vicki Steele, has made some enormous strides this year. Year round seasonal decorations of the Main Sanctuary. New Banners for the sanctuary with our NEW logo.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT - THE GATHERINGThe Gathering, led by Leonard Leyva, continues to be a place where we can be equipped and mature in our faith, but it also serves as a great way to invite our family and friends to a low cost, low stress, high fellowship, church event. The Gathering continues to a place of: “Changed lives through clubs and classes.” Here are some highlights:

We had several “new” volunteers step up and become a part of one of the four kitchen/clean-up crews we have in place.

Ray Wimsett continuing the Theological Training Program courses. The growing of our “Neighborhood” class Start of the new ALPHA class.

WORSHIP MINISTRY (See Worship Ministry Report)As you can see, God is using our church family to reach this community. God is not looking for great programs…He is looking for people like you and I to be the “people” that He wants to use. I continue to be challenged with this verse from Romans 10:14-15

14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “HOW

Neighborhood Church - 2013 Annual Report Page 24

BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!”

I believe God wants us to be the people who answer the “How” question with “WE” will be the ones who are sent and bring the “GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!

Men's Ministry 2013

The Men’s Retreat again had a record number of attendees this year, with 62 men from within our congregation as well as friends, family, and guest speakers. The theme was “It's Time For a Change” - Dennis Bettencourt, Jody Madsen, Ron Scadina (from Santa Cruz Revival Church), and John McIntosh all spoke. This year there again was a committee to put in the effort needed to get these men up there, the members consisted of Dennis Bettencourt, Marc McNeil, Phil Barton, Steve Greenberg, and John McIntosh (who headed up coordinating the communications for the Deaf Community members who were interested in coming). It was certainly a blessing to have this wonderful, new group of men join us and for all of us to continue to connect better with each otherDennis has also been doing a great job with the Men’s Breakfast along with a host of other volunteers. This happens every first Saturday of the month and again he was able to have a very nice mix of speakers from inside and outside of our Congregation to encourage each of us to live the life as Spiritual Leaders of our households that God has intended for us.We have been reaching out a creating more and more Men's Small Groups and currently have approximately 10 running. We organized a couple Facility Work Days, but we need to recognize Arlie Steele, Rick Elola, and Frank Bryant for their continuous effort to keep our facilities in wonderful shape - THANK YOU GUYS and all of those who help you out too!!In His Name,Marc McNeil<><

Women’s Ministries Report 2013

Our Mission statement – To nurture and support women in fellowship tailored to the needs of women so that they grow in Christ and build open, caring relationships with one another. In January our leader, Susan Knutson, shared with us that due to her and her husband would be traveling a lot she would no longer be our leader but would still be a part of our team. As we progress through the year the team began to look for ways to fill the leadership position.Monthly: Koffee Klatch: On the third Saturday of each month, women meet at the original Suju’s coffee shop on Thornton and Paseo Padre from 8 to 10 a.m. We encourage women to bring a friend, especially newcomers to CBNC to meet and fellowship…We continue to have Bible Study groups that meet on a weekly basis in homes of our women Bible leaders.APRIL: Retreat: Over 60 women gathered at Redwood Christian Park for a “Take Me Away” retreat. We had four speakers from our group: Beth Mattsson- Bozé, Antoinette Rodrigues, Margaret Neumann and Susan Knutson using Romans 8:24-25 as a foundation verse to teach us about Hope. Crafts and workshops offered opportunities to learn something new and deepen friendship. A kiosk was put in the room asking ladies how they would like to see Women’s Ministries in the future.JUNE: Secret Sisters: A Reveal party was held at Susan Knutson’s house. Last year Women had been randomly assigned a secret sister to pray for, send notes of encouragement and small gifts to. At the party women guessed who they thought their secret sister had been and were surprised to find if it had been someone different. I was a fun time of fellowship.AUGUST/SEPTEMBER: Truthteller/Bible Study Groups Information Meetings: Beth met with women who were interested in deeper accountability thru small groups or bigger groups. Also in SEPTEMBER: Circuit Workout Class: Every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. women meet in the youth room for movement, strength and cardio training.OCTOBER: 70 Days Till Christmas Event: A group of women were led by Karlee to learn about digital photo organization and how to create gifts using digital photos…Welcome to the digital world. Also in OCTOBER: After prayer and review of the gathered information from retreat and a women’s survey and much conversation with the women’s board and Pastor Joel, Becky Bryant has taken the role of leading and coordinating the women’s department.Becky Bryant

Worship Ministry 2013

Our Mission“To create an environment where God is glorified and the people experience a life changing encounter with God!”We continue to strive to attain this goal! We have made some adjustments to our sound system and are seeing great benefits from that. This year we have added new members to the worship ministry, Andy Huffmaster and Maria Coloma. We also have been contacted and have several people interested in joining us! It is our desire to grow our ministry! The areas we are seeking people in, are:- Sound technicians (training provided)- Visual technicians (training provided)- Vocalists- InstrumentalistsWe have worked with Jo Jo McCoy and the Angel Children’s Choir, incorporating the worship team with the choir. That has been a great experience and we hope to continue with that in the future! We would also like to have a ‘stage manager/service producer’ someone who helps with actually running the service and helps us all to work together and help our services to run smoothly. We view the music in our church as just one of the components of ‘worship’, understanding that our entire service is a worship service. May we ALWAYS have Jesus as our focus as we lead this congregation into His presence!

For the Kingdom!Lindsey Alcosiba and Antoinette Rodrigues

Youth Ministry - Annual Report for 2013

It has been a year of transition. Transitioning into full-time ministry as well as full-time fatherhood. It has been quite a challenge. The goal of our ministry this past year has been to lead students into an authentic relationship with an authentic Jesus. It has been my goal to present the Gospel of Jesus as simply and straight forward as possible., week after week. The results have been encouraging. Our Tuesday night small group, our most important discipleship time, ahs grown from 3 to 9 in the past 7 months. The students who are involved in this group are starting to step up into leadership of the group. It has been challenging as well as rewarding to be a part of the discipleship process of these students.Looking forward into next year, our goal is to keep leading students deeper in their walk with Christ. We will do this by presenting Jesus as He is, not watering down the message of the Gospel in order to make it more appeasing to students, as can sometime happen in Youth Ministry.2013 highlights
