V. Academic Senate Reports.a) MPAROC – A. Rivera

At the February 22 meeting MPAROC had a review of its fall workgroup projects. Topics included integrating program review into master planning; making planning to be more meaningful and relevant; adopting a staggered approach to comprehensive master planning and program review; reporting of departmental goals and objectives; availability of data for program review; integrating SLOs and AOs into program review; embedding forms in Taskstream; requests for hiring, technology, equipment and budget forms; disaggregation of data. J. Akers will invite the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness Susan Murray and the new campus researcher to talk to Senate about the strategic plan and program review process.

b) Social Courtesy Committee –B. HarrisAcademic Senate’s Social Courtesy Committee has sponsored a Retirement Tea for many years, but interest in serving on this committee has waned to one person and gathering information about upcoming retirements has become more difficult to obtain. How should the committee proceed? It was suggested that the name of the committee be changed to something more relevant to party planning. Please take this back to your department to generate interest.

c) “Disaggregated SLO Data” – J. JarrellThe ACCJC standards of 2014 (Standard I.B.6) require that we report on student outcome data in a disaggregated manner in order to see how a group is doing in comparison to the whole or to other groups. Concerns for using this process include student privacy, faculty workload, and faculty control over assessment. More discussion on this issue will be held after the accreditation team visit.

There is work underway on a rapid response system to protect undocumented immigrants.
