Earth Day Contest Earth Day Canada is searching for Canada’s 2010 Hometown Heroes--individuals and groups who have realized significant environmental achievements in their communities. Candidates can win either the Individual Hometown Heroes Award, with a $10,000 cash-prize ($5,000 to keep and $5,000 to donate to the environmental cause of their choice), or the Group Hometown Heroes Award, with a $10,000 cash-prize to support their work. The Hometown Heroes Award Program was established in 2004 and is made possible through a committed partnership with Cascades and the RBC Foundation. The recipient of the 2010 Hometown Heroes Award will be recognized as part of the 7th Annual Earth Day Canada Gala in Toronto, on June 9, 2010. For more information, or to nominate yourself, an individual, or a group from your community, please visit www.earthday.ca. The deadline for applications is Earth Day, April 22, 2010. Earth Day Canada also will be rewarding twenty graduating high school students, each with a $5,000 post-secondary scholarship. One exceptional student, chosen from the regional winners, will also be presented with the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship National Award and a Panasonic notebook computer. So whether high school students have started their own recycling programs or have engaged in groundbreaking scientific research, they are responding to envi-ronmental issues at local, national, and global levels, and demonstrating their leadership in the process—another win-win situation. (The deadline for application for the scholarships has passed, but they have not yet been awarded.)

Easy, Money Making Local Business Opportunity

TeKa Home Decor has grown so much, we no longer have room for our line of

Art Supplies.

This is a popular, profitable product line that one of the other retailers in town might want to consider carrying as a supplemental income source. We are clearing out all of our inventory, but it’s available if another business is interested in it…

If not, if anyone would like info on this type of product line, we have an excellent supplier that we’d be willing to forward, and share our experiences of what sells, stock levels, financials etc.

We’re sad to think that Vanderhoof will lose another product line, & people will have to drive to PG to get Artist Supplies. We would like to see another local retailer have success with it, as we have for many years, but we have to focus on our original business development plan. We always knew that as our business grew, art supplies would have to go, and in a bittersweet way, that day has come.

Please contact us if you are interested.
