Supporting new learning environments – the big picture

Professional development programs for teachers and principles

FNBE finances PD for K-12, vocational and adult education sectors.

Number of paid PD days vary depending on contract.

Many teachers also participate on their own time.

Focus areas are specified annually by FNBE.

Recently the focus has been on ICT enriched learning, special needs, contextual learning and entrepreneurial teaching skills.

Teachers are expected to keep up to date with subject matter and pedagogical knowledge and skills.

ICT skills are measured through a national framework.
