(There is also a list of famous people born under your year sign following the reading.)

Each part of this reading contributes valuable information to help you put together the pieces of the puzzle that make up this marvelous individual known as your self. By now you might be coming to the conclusion that many factors go into your chart. And, indeed, there is a lot more to Chinese astrology than simply determining a person is a Dragon or a Horse, reading a few lines, and thinking you’ve learned all there is to know. Even this reading contains only a portion of what Chinese astrology can reveal.

Furthermore, your chart can only tell you about a particular strength, weakness or opportunity. It is up to you to take advantage of it. It is up to you to wisely use your strengths and compensate for weaknesses. Likewise, you must make an effort to capitalize on opportune times and to prepare for tough ones. Yes, Chinese astrology does outline the parameters of your life, but it is ultimately you who determines your fortune and your destiny.

Now begin a unique journey into yourself.

TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology

Background

This reading is based on your Year, Month, Day and Time (Chinese hour) of birth. From ancient times, the Chinese have believed that certain parameters of your personality and fate were set at your moment of birth. The Chinese are not strict determinists, however, and do believe people can use the information in their charts to improve their lives. For example, athletic coaches train their teams to exploit their strengths and to find ways to compensate for their weaknesses. That’s an ideal use of this personal insight reading.

About Chinese astrology

The roots of Chinese astrology go back thousands of years. Needless to say in the course of millennia a number of different systems have been used.

There are two main types, those that rely on birth data alone, and those that use birth data but rely primarily on positioning of stars and planets. Most use the lunar calendar (see appendix 1 for more info on the Chinese calendar) which bases its calculations on the cycles of the moon. That is why Chinese New Year falls on a different date every year. Some Chinese systems use the solar year as Western astrology does. Both, however, make use of Chinese five-element theory.

The five elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, always being given in that order. It is said to be a productive cycle, that is Wood produces Fire; Fire produces Earth; Earth produces Metal, Metal produces Water, and Water produces Wood, thus continuing the cycle. The balance of these elements and their positioning in a Chinese chart enable the astrologer to tell many things about a person’s personality and life.

As with Western astrology, Chinese astrology has 12 primary signs, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. There are variations in the names. Some people, for example, use Buffalo for Ox or Boar for Rat.

Page 5: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

It’s interesting to think about why Chinese astrologers have used these particular animal names. Unfortunately, Chinese astrology is so old that we just don’t have any ancient texts describing the process. Most likely it was done empirically, that is, astrologers looked at human behavior, came up with twelve types (to match their 12 year calendar cycle) and thought about which animal best exemplified each. Chinese animal stereotypes sometimes approximate Western, e.g., the loyal Dog. For the Chinese, however, Rat and Snake do not have the negative connotations characteristic of Western perceptions. In fact, they are two of the most prestigious signs.

Already it can be seen there are both similarities (both have 12 basic signs) and differences (solar and lunar calendar) between Chinese and Western astrology. It is important to understand them to avoid confusion.

Chinese astrologers base their calculations on the moon and its cycles, that is, on the lunar year. Western astrologers base theirs on the solar year. Thus, Western signs are called sun signs. In Western astrology the month sign, for example, Leo, is the primary influence, while in Chinese astrology it is the year sign. Chinese astrology also has month signs. Chinese months are not named (just numbered) and use the same names as year signs. So, there is such a thing as a Wood Sheep year and a Wood Sheep month.

Western signs are usually designated by one word, for example, Aquarius, and change from month to month. Chinese signs are designated by two Chinese characters and change from year to year. One character designates the year’s element and the other its animal sign, for example, Earth Tiger. The Chinese have used both decimal based calendars as in the West as well as a twelve year based calendar. The two are both used simultaneously by Chinese astrologers, thus resulting in the compound signs.

Actually, Chinese astrology has four signs, one for the year, the month, the day and the hour of birth. In texts these are often referred to as “the four pillars.” This may sound different, but even here there is a similarity with Western astrology. That system, for example, uses hour signs as well, calling them “ascendants.”

If it’s starting to sound like Chinese astrology is complicated, that’s because it is. When you put together the 12 animal signs with the five elements, you get 60 total signs. Then you have to consider that each person has four of these. The practical effect of this is you could be in a high school graduating class of over 8,000 people, all born in the same year, yet no two having exactly the same “four pillars” chart. And, we haven’t even talked about star charts, which use additional factors. Each of us truly is an individual, as no two people on the planet born in the same year have the same Chinese star chart.

There is one more very important thing to know about Chinese astrology. Chinese astrologers are not strict determinists. In other words they do not believe a person’s fate is sealed in stone at the moment of birth. What they do believe is that a person’s time and place of birth set parameters, boundaries within which a person has more or less freedom. What happens within these boundaries is influenced not only by “free will” but also by external factors such as financial status of the family, the culture, and the local economy.

In one way this is just common sense, not unlike what people in the West already believe. If your adult height is five feet one inch, you’re not likely to be a professional basketball player. If your IQ is less than 100, you’re not likely to be a chemical engineer.

There is of course a whole body of Chinese philosophy and culture underlying the precepts and findings of Chinese astrology. The subject of Chinese studies, as fascinating as it is however, is well beyond the scope of this basic introduction.

Page 6: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

One point worth mentioning, though, is that balance plays a central role in Chinese thought. Even this idea has Western counterparts, Aristotle’s “golden mean” for example. In Chinese thought a star athlete who flunks Algebra is still weak. True strength comes from balance. A strong chart will be balanced in terms of both signs and elements. Ideally a person will have, for example, a mix of strong and gentle signs as well as of elements. And, if a person has a variety of signs as opposed to, say, two Monkey and two Rat signs, so much the better. That means the person has a wider range of capabilities.

Much of the above discussion has been about personality and abilities. Originally, however, the primary purpose of Chinese astrology was fortune telling. The focus is usually on what will happen to people in various stages of their lives/a specific duration of time or on what people should do on a particular day or in a certain month or year.

The Chinese Calendar

The Chinese calendar differs significantly from the Western calendar.

The primary difference is that the months of the Chinese calendar are directly tied to the phases of the moon. These phases, however, do not fit in with the length of the year as measured by the Earth’s revolution around the sun.

The Western calendar is fixed in the sense that each New Year begins on solar/Western calendar date January first. Because the Chinese New Year must correlate with a moon phase, it falls as early as January 22nd and as late as February 19th on the Western calendar.

This has significant implications for Chinese Astrology. First, however, it’s important to understand the primary difference between Chinese and Western astrology. Chinese astrology focuses on the year sign, and Western astrology focuses on the month sign (Aquarius, Pisces, etc.).

Chinese astrology does, however, have month signs. This can be confusing because the month signs have the same name as the year signs. Furthermore, when we say a Chinese sign corresponds to a Western sign, e.g., Ox to Capricorn, we do not mean the person was born in a Capricorn month. Rather, we mean the person’s Chinese year-sign traits roughly correspond to the traits of that Western sign.

Adding to the confusion is the fact we can’t know a person’s Western sign simply by knowing the person’s Chinese month sign. For example, a person born on the first day of the seventh month (July 1 in Western terminology) of the Chinese calendar year 1979 was actually born on August 23rd of the Western calendar. Since July 1st is Cancer and August 23 is Leo, it’s easy to see the confusion.

As with the months, neither do Chinese and Western years match exactly. Thus, even though we might know a person’s Chinese sign, we still cannot be sure of their year of birth. Conversely, if we know a person’s year of birth, we cannot be sure of their Chinese sign.

Let’s say someone was born in 1978 (Chinese year of the Horse) on the Western calendar. They would only be the Horse sign if born after February 6th; since, Chinese New Year was February 7th

by the Western calendar. The Chinese Horse year 1978 actually has the Western calendar dates included in the period February 7, 1978 through January 27, 1979.

Page 7: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

This is especially important when evaluating compatibility. Signs most compatible with the Horse (Tiger and Dog) are not nearly so compatible with the Snake, which is the sign of people born in 1978 but earlier than February 7th on the Western calendar

Tab 3 – Personality Chest

Primary Year Sign Description - The Dragon

The Dragon Personality

Defining characteristics

Of all the signs, the Dragon symbolizes the flamboyant dreamer.

Decisions decisions:

To understand how the Dragon operates, it’s important to know Dragon is a Yang and a “heart” sign.

Being a Yang sign person, you are most effective using a direct, if not aggressive, approach to life. You tend to be proactive.

As a “heart” sign person, you are most comfortable following your heart rather than basing decisions on logic

From the Dragon’s perspective:

Qualities admired: Perfection and grandiosity

Pet peeves: Pessimism and being caused to lose face

Your Primary Element is Water

Relationship to other elements:

Productive cycle: Metal > Water > Wood > Fire > Earth > Metal

Metal enhances Water, and Water enhances Wood.

Destructive cycle: Earth > Water > Fire > Metal > Wood > Earth

Earth weakens Water, and Water weakens Fire

The Water Personality

Approach

Water is a gentle element, and Water people are most at home using an indirect approach to achieve their goals. Although capable of devastating power (witness floods), Water is at its magnificent best when it quietly grounds down obstacles as in the process of soil erosion. That is how Water created the Grand Canyon, one of the great wonders of the natural world.

Tab 4 = + Traits

Positive Traits Year of the Dragon:

Brave, decisive, dynamic, enchanting, exotic, fashionable, flamboyant, idealistic, imaginative, proud, self confident and tenacious.

The flamboyant Dragon is an integral part of every Chinese New Year celebration, and why not! You often come across as strikingly or mysteriously different or unusual. Maybe it’s your fashionable dress or your high energy.

It’s no wonder you have a lot of pride and self confidence. You generally command respect wherever you are. And, you are always on the go.

You boldly confront the mightiest obstacles and accept challenges that seem beyond the reach of others. You are not only decisive but, having made a decision, tenaciously hold onto the idea, moving heaven and earth if necessary, to fulfill your dreams.

Page 9: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

And, with your limitless imagination, what dreams you have! As often as not they are very idealistic and geared toward the betterment of mankind.

Positive qualities Water:

Positive qualities: Communicative, convincing, diplomatic, empathetic, flexible, intuitive, open mined, resilient, sensitive, soft spoken, spontaneous and sympathetic.

The emotional Water person is very sensitive to other people and their needs. When you combine this with their normally excellent communications skills, it’s easy to understand that they can be excellent enablers and counselors.

The non threatening Water person easily gets close to other people and often ends up influencing them even more than aggressively people using the direct approach. As with the stream that wears away the rough rock leaving a beautifully polished stone, Water people usually leave us the better for having known them.

Water people will not try to overwhelm with force but, rather, will wear you down with persistence. They prefer to present their point in a diplomatic manner. You will rarely hear a blunt or straightforward contradiction to what you say. They don’t even like to stand up and fight when attacked. They will yield and yield; however, they won’t break. They are survivors and likely to outlast your onslaughts. Don’t think an argument with a Water person is over when they quietly drop the subject. Rest assured it will be raised again and again, morphing into a variety of forms until you concede defeat. Defeat isn’t so bad; however, as they will charm you into liking it.

They also win us over with their artistic ability. Of course not every Water person is a Paul McCartney (Water Horse), a Van Gogh (Water Ox), or an Yves St. Laurens (Water Rat), but it is likely their homes are aesthetically pleasing and their choice of music superb. Those that do bring themselves to focus on one discipline often make a career of it or at least go into a career where their artistic ability is a decided asset.

Another of their positive traits is that they have a kindly streak and will often go out of their way to help people in need.

They are also good listeners, which contributes to their usually excellent communications skills. Anyone who has seen a ripple in a pool knows how well Water picks up and transmits vibrations. They pick up verbal, non verbal, audio and even psychic messages easier than most other people.

Sometimes they may appear to be psychic but that could be more a function of their open mindedness and flexibility, which helps them to see “the big picture” and to construct alternative futures.

Tab 5 - - Traits

Page 10: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

Negative Traits Year of the Dragon:

Aggressive, authoritarian, conceited, dictatorial, dogmatic, domineering, eccentric, impractical, overzealous, superficial, tactless and unpredictable.

Unfortunately, there are times the Dragon never gets beyond being a dreamer. Perhaps your big dreams are too impractical and you’re just being fanciful. At times you might appear to people as a strange eccentric or just someone who is all talk and no action. All we can say for sure is you are unpredictable, and we can never know whether yours is the next great idea or just some crackpot scheme.

What we can say is that it is not unusual for you to have an excessively high opinion of yourself. Call it vanity if you will. It does grate on the rest of us in those moments when it is obvious to us you are superficial and your behavior tactless. Although you rarely intend any malice (it’s not really in you) your speech and mannerisms are occasionally insensitive and offensive.

This is most apparent when you exercise leadership. You are often a born leader; yet, on occasion you resort to a dictatorial style. You can be oppressive or arrogantly overbearing towards others. You sometimes play the authoritarian and require blind obedience from your subordinates. Perhaps it’s your overzealous enthusiasm for otherwise noble ends that causes you to slip into these behaviors.

Negative qualities of Water:

Negative qualities: Appeasing, dreamy, emotional (to a fault), fickle, hypersensitive, inconstant, paranoid, passive, self absorbed, and unfocused.

Water’s strengths turn into weaknesses in excess. Water people can be overly sensitive and, or, flexible to a fault. But if they can control these emotions, these traits make them formidable strategists.

Water’s operating style is like that used in the American War of Independence and the Vietnam War. General Giap, commander of the successful North Vietnamese forces, for example, is a Water Rat. A Water person prefers to infiltrate rather than dominate, to hit and run away to fight another day.

In fact, if anything can be said about Water it is that, free from external control, it’s always on the move. Water people will be found in social situations more often than not.

A Little About Customization

Note: No doubt you just said yes, this is me, many times as you read the description of your year element. On the other hand, there were probably some things that didn’t ring true. You might also

Page 11: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

be wondering how all these traits can apply to one person in five, i.e., 20% of the population. In fact, the same thought may have occurred to you as you read the description of your animal sign. How can this apply to 1/12 of the population?

The next section goes on to explain the specific combination of your animal sign with its element.

Tab 6 – Power Zone

Combined (year) Sign, i.e., Element + Sign

Water DragonFlexible Water meets the inflexible Dragon. What will give? Luckily good judgment often prevails with this combination. Under the gentle influence of Water, the grandiose Dragon has a good chance of successfully completing those big projects. It's an especially good time to tackle writing projects; so, go get that first book published this year.

Combined Supplemental (Month and Day) Signs

In Chinese astrology the year sign carries the most weight when it comes to chart interpretation. The month and day signs; nevertheless, exert a significant influence and must be thought of as supplementing the primary (year) sign. The following section addresses those “supplemental” signs.

Month Sign – Water Rabbit

The Water Rabbit shows great sensitivity and constantly promotes harmony. Unfortunately, you are too often overly sensitive and easily hurt. You are kind and generous--- almost to a fault, and it is easy to take advantage of your generosity. You tend to be friendly and easygoing, a joy to be around. It wouldn't be surprising if you were drawn to artistic pursuits and either participate actively or are somewhat of a connoisseur.

Impact

The Rabbit likes to slow things down and calm everybody while the Dragon relishes stirring up the pot and making things happen. This combination allows you to be at ease and to be effective in many different kinds of situations. Your Rabbit side tends to smooth some of your Dragon’s rough edges, thus giving you the appearance of a smooth operator rather than that of a pushy Dragon.

Western sign - Aries

Note: At this point it is worth looking at your western sign, which is also a month sign; since, Western astrology signs change from month to month.

Aries Dragon

Aries enhances your Dragon qualities. You are likely to have high goals and to work very hard to attain them. This combination is indicative of achievers. You tend to have big dreams, many of which you will fulfill along with suffering a few spectacular failures.

Page 12: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

Day Sign – Earth Dragon

Impact

Since you have two Dragon signs, all your qualities, and all your strengths and weaknesses are magnified. Mediocrity is not something that will characterize much of your life. You are likely to have more than your fair share of spectacular success and failures.

Ruling Constellation -

Rat

Your words can cleverly disguise your feelings. You can be a skillful negotiator. You have, however, a tendency to be spiteful when crossed.

Sign Mix PLEASE REVIEW

Yin-Yang

The concepts of yin and yang are central to Chinese thought. In brief they represent simultaneously opposing yet complementary principles whose interplay gives dynamism to the universe. Yin is associated with the feminine principle and yang the masculine. They are usually represented by the symbols + and -, the same ones we find on batteries. Indeed, we can think of their operation in similar terms. Energy flows out of one pole of the battery and returns to the other. In Chinese astrology, yang is the positive pole, the initiator of action or the aggressive force and yang is the negative pole, the receiver of action. Positive and negative here have no judgmental connotations but simply denote opposite behavior preferences.

You have one Yin and two Yang signs. You tend to be more comfortable initiating action rather than reacting to situations.

Tab 7 – Emotional Quotient

Gentle-Strong

Another way of looking at your signs is to consider the strength they represent. This sometimes gives a very different perspective from yin-yang. Everyone thinks of the Ox as a strong animal; yet, it is a yin sign. The Rat, in spite of its aggressive, yang character, actually has a gentle heart that is easily wounded.

You have two strong (Double Dragon) and one gentle sign (Rabbit).

You are more comfortable when you have the dominant role in a relationship.

Page 13: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

Head-Heart

Most people prefer to make decisions based on either logic (head) or emotion (heart). In the popular literature, this is referred to as left brain and right brain thinking. Also, some people function equally at ease in either mode. Chinese signs follow this logic, being either head or heart signs. The fact that some people are at home using either means is due to their mix of signs.

You have three Heart (Dragon and Rabbit) and zero Head signs---unbalanced.

You are more comfortable following your emotions than using logic. Note: the Dragon belongs to the cerebral Rat-Dragon-Monkey compatibility group. Of the six Heart signs, the Dragon is the most likely to be comfortable with logic. So, this mix is not as unbalanced as it appears. In general, though, your passion trumps logic.

(Internal) Sign Compatibility

Chinese signs can be viewed as the 12 hours on a clock face. This is useful for determining a person’s chance of achieving inner peace and tranquility. Signs that are four hours apart are considered very harmonious while those three hours apart are very incompatible. Signs two hours apart are somewhat harmonious while signs six hours apart are very much at odds and represent probable inner conflict. Signs one, five and seven hours apart are most often neutral.

The relationships between Rabbit and Dragon and Dragon and Dragon are essentially neutral. Thus, your signs neither cause you any internal conflict nor particularly add to your abilities.

Element Mix

The distribution of the 10 elements in your chart has a profound influence on who you are and what you become in life. From a Chinese astrology perspective the best distribution is one in which no element is in short supply, as is found in a balanced chart, 2-2-2-2-2.

The number of times each element appears in your chart significantly modifies general sign descriptions. For example, let’s say your sign is the Rat, and the description says Rat people are good communicators. Then let’s say your chart contains no Water, the element associated with communication. This lack of Water means you will be much less communicative than other Rats. Perhaps you have read you have a gentle sign such as the Sheep. On the other hand, your chart might show you have an excess of Metal, indicating extreme stubbornness and an aggressive nature. You will be more like a ram with horns rather than a bleating lamb.

Your element mix is Wood 3, Fire 0, Earth 3, Metal 1, and Water 3.

Your element mix is 3-0-3-1-3

This mix means you have three strengths and two weaknesses. Since the strength rating of elements affects your chi (energy/life force) in the various stages of your life, it also means that you will have three strong and two weak periods in your life.

Note: Since the total number of times an element may appear in this chart is 10, the average strength rating for any one element is 2.0 (10 divided by 5). Elements that appear three or more times in the chart signify strength, and those that appear only once or not at all signify weakness. Those that appear exactly two times are considered normal.

Strengths

Water

Page 14: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

You have an above average amount of Water in your chart. You probably have excellent communications skills, both spoken and written, and are likely to be quite intellectual. You are comfortable with most kinds of travel.

Earth

You have an above average amount of Earth in your chart. You are probably very determined and not afraid to strike out in new directions to improve your situation. Also, you tend to be a very reliable and practical person.

Wood

You have an above average amount of Wood in your chart. You are probably good-hearted and creative.

Weaknesses

Fire

You have no Fire in your chart. You are not the cheerleader type but, rather, are homely and quiet. It's difficult for you to initiate action, especially when quick action is required.

Metal

You have a below average amount of Metal in your chart. You’re a gentle type---not really a fighter. You can be indecisive about starting things and don’t always have the determination to finish things you do start.

In Combination

Overall your chart elements reveal you to be a person who gets his way using communications, interpersonal skills and creativity rather than dogged determination and aggressiveness. You favor compromise and consensus building rather than just trying to win the day with your position. You tend to lack the strong elements and have a goodly amount of the gentle ones.

Since we don’t know your time of birth, it is possible that you could have enough Fire and Metal to up their rating to normal or to increase the ratings of your strengths to excessive. Given your two strong Dragon signs, it is to your benefit to be on the gentle side when it comes to elements. This reflects balance, which in Chinese thought is where true strength lies.

Tab 8 – Diamond Predictions

As you’ve seen, the various combinations of signs and elements create a complex personality. They also influence your fate in significant ways. This section first takes a subjective and then a chronological look at your life. The four key areas covered are Health, Wealth, Happiness and Recognition. The chronology is broken up into five sections: Birth, Youth, Maturation, Mid Life and Old Age.

Four key areas

Health

Page 15: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

Your chi (energy/life force) ratings for Health total 4, which is average (4.0). Your success in this area is basically what you make of it. Your Health should be generally good, but it could present problems during the weak chi periods of your life (Birth and Maturation).

Wealth

Your chi ratings for Wealth also total 4, which is average (4.0). Again, you have sufficient chi to do well, and in the end your success is up to you.

Your chi rating for Fire, the element most associated with career success, is 0, well below average (2.0). This means career success is likely to be one of the major challenges of your life. You will have to expend a tremendous amount of chi to accomplish the goals to satisfy your double Dragon personality. Note: this is not so dire if you have at least some Fire in your time of birth sign which is not known.

Happiness

Your chi ratings for Happiness total 4, which is average (4.0).

Recognition

Your chi rating for recognition is 3, above average (2.0). You have a good chance to be respected for your accomplishments, which could be substantial, especially given your two Dragon signs.

Tab 9 – Diary of Destiny

Five Stages of Life

The five stages of life are Birth, Youth, Maturation, Mid Life and Old Age, representing early and late childhood, adulthood and old age, and the period of Maturation or transition from childhood to adulthood. Before addressing how you fare in each of these periods, here is some general information on your sign.

General Overview

Your life could seem like a bit of a roller coaster ride given your element imbalance. The periods in your life are likely to be either strong or weak; mediocrity is not in your script.

Birth

Birth, the first stage of life, is the period of life from conception to about age three. People born early in the year might consider reading the sign of the previous year as it does exert some influence over their personality as you were alive in your mother’s womb during that year.

This is your Fire-Opportunity time, your weakest (chi/energy/life force) time. You had a slow start in life and could even have experienced some problems during this time. Normally, Fire

associated with Opportunity means this is a good time to change careers. Given your low chi rating for Fire and the fact that this is your Birth time, this indicator doesn’t have any real meaning for you.

Youth

Youth, the second stage of life, is the period from about age five to age 12. The period from about age three to about age five is a time of transition. It’s necessary to talk of transition periods and approximate times because people are different, and because these transitions occur over time rather than at a particular moment.

This is your Earth-Fate time, a strong time for you. By the time you entered school you probably sensed an increase in chi. This means it was becoming easier to take advantage of opportunities and to deal with problems. It was an important (Fate) time for you, and it’s auspicious that it was a strong time. Earth associated with Fate refers to the acquisition of land. This could either concern your parents, given that you’re still a child at this time, or it could be a promise that you will acquire land in the future. Nevertheless, the presence of Fate in Youth does mean an important turning point in your life occurred during that time.

Maturation

Maturation is the time you cross the bridge from Youth to adulthood, approximately age 15-25. It is a very important time in any person’s life, and a strong chi rating here forms the basis of a strong chart.

This is your Metal-Seal time, your second weakest time. Given your strong chi in the previous period, you may have felt that your teenage years were increasingly challenging. A weak chi rating here means it was more difficult for you than for your peers. There is, however, a 40% chance you have some Metal in your hour sign, which would mean it was, rather, a normal time.

Metal associated with Seal refers to material possessions and indicates that you will have nice things in your life. This is dependent on whether there is more Metal in your chart (time) and just how much chi you expend to achieve your goals.

Mid Life

Mid life constitutes the major portion of a person’s adult life, approximately age 35-55. The long transition period from age 25-35 is due both to the fact that the maturation process varies greatly from person to person and the fact that this is the most drastic change a person undergoes in life.

This is your Water-Official time, another strong time for you. You probably didn’t really start sensing your full potential until after age 30, and it wasn’t until after age 40 that you were sure of it.

Water associated with Official indicates school and, or, literary success. Given your strong chi rating for Water you are likely to achieve recognition in these areas with just a reasonable amount of effort on your part.

Old age

Page 17: mikejay.commikejay.com/mj/reports/Reading - Mike Jay PI.doc · Web view1. Your Chinese Astrology Signs: 1. Understanding Your Reading. 2. TAB 2 – About Chinese Astrology. 4. Background

Old age is the period of life from about age 55 onwards. This is only an approximation and is changing all the time if for no other reason than people are living longer and longer with each new generation in most parts of the world. Perhaps, several thousand years ago when astrologers first started doing charts, age 45 was considered to be the beginning of this stage.

This is your Wood-Wealth time, another strong time for you. With two strong periods in a row, you should have lots of opportunity to achieve many of those high goals set by your two Dragon signs.

Wood associated with Wealth indicates that the best way for you to make money is using your creativity or engaging in the health care profession or other fields that make good use of your caring nature. This combination also reveals that you are not the materialistic type. Rather, it is love, beauty and family that bring you happiness.

Another important consideration here is that cycles form an integral part of almost every area of Chinese thought. Some astrologers have asserted that our life cycle begins anew at age 60, a number which coincides with the 60-year Chinese calendar cycle. For the purposes of this chart, simply use the information in this section as the guide to this period; though, it’s always possible to contemplate later years in terms of the information under birth. In fact this is mandatory for a fraction of charts where element/chi transitions occur in mid-stage rather than during transitions between stages.
