It literally means “together life”. It refers to organisms that live in close approximation; often they cannot live without each other.

Parasitism (right flap) Relationship in which one organism

(the host) is the source of food and/or shelter for the organism (the parasite)

Mutualism (left flap) Neither species is hurt in anyway, they

both receive a benefit from the relationship.

*Both Benefit* Examples:Bees and FlowersBacteria living in cow’s intestines, help

break down cellulose.Honey guide bird leads honey badger to

honey, they both eat.

Commensalism (bottom) One organism benefits from the

relationship while the other is neither helped or harmed.

Examples:Barnacles living on a whaleRemoras attach themselves to a sharks

body. They eat sharks food scraps and have protection.
