    troops, which i s supplemented by the possession, care and maintenance of arms

    and equipment .

    Superior b a t t l e worth can equalize numerical in fe r ior i ty . The higher the b a t t l e worth, the more vigorous and versa t i l e can war be executed.

    Superior leadership and superior troop ba t t l e readiness are r e l i ab l e

    portents of victory.

These t a s k s a r e based upon the i n t e n t i o n s of the d iv i s ion commander. The subdividion o f t h e d i v i s i o n reconnaissance bat"ta1ion and al lotment thereof t o var ious march columns is t o be avoided. The fant t h a t ' o t h e r reconnaissance agencies may be operat ing in f r o n t of the d i v i s i o n does not r e l e a s e the d iv i - s ion connuandor f r o m r e s p o n s i b i l i t y f o r h i s own reconnaissance.
