To help soothe ailments

Listerine kills toenail fungus

Soak the affected foot in a 50/50 Listerine/vinegar solution 15-20 minutes, twice a day, it will cure most cases of toenail fungus. You have to be persistent as it could take several weeks to clear. Listerine contains antiseptic and disinfectant ingredients.

Yogurt for bad breath

Studies have shown that live bacteria in sugar free yogurt can suppress levels of bad breath-causing bacteria. If the bad bacteria cannot survive, your breath will not smell bad.

Page 11: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Olive oil for Eczema

Apply extra virgin, unrefined olive oil to your skin after showering, while your skin is still damp. The olive oil seals in moisture and helps soothe painful Eczema.

Sugar stops hiccups

Hiccups are annoying, but now you can stop them within one minute simply by A teaspoon of sugar should help stop hiccups. Experts believe that the sudden sweetness on the tongue overloads the nerve endings in the mouth and stops the hiccup spasm.

Page 12: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Duct tape removes warts.

Apply a small piece of duct tape to the wart and leave it on for a week. Then wash the area and use a pumice stone to scour the affected area, and reapply another piece of tape for another week. Repeat until the wart is gone.

Vodka for smelly feet

Wipe your feet with a vodka-soaked rag to eliminate foot odour. Vodka contains alcohol, an antiseptic that is very drying. Alcohol destroys odour-causing fungus and bacteria and dries out the moisture that lets these organisms grow.

Olives and lemons for motion sickness

Eating olives or sucking on a lemon at the first signs of motion sickness can help ease nausea.

Page 13: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Tomatoes help for acne

Mash one small tomato into a pulp, then spread the pulp on your face and let it sit for one hour. Wash it off with warm water and pat dry. Repeat once a day for a week.

Cold remedies

These remedies may help you feel better. They do not cure.

1. Water and other fluids. Water, juice, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Avoid alcohol, coffee and caffeinated sodas, which can make dehydration worse.

2. Salt water. A saltwater gargle — 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt dissolved in an 8-ounce glass of warm water — can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat.

3. Saline nasal drops and sprays. Over-the-counter saline nasal drops and sprays combat stuffiness and congestion. In infants, experts recommend instilling several saline drops into one nostril, then gently suctioning that nostril with a bulb syringe. To do this, squeeze the bulb, gently place the syringe tip in the nostril about 1/4 to 1/2 inch (about 6 to 12 millimeters) and slowly release the bulb. Saline nasal sprays may be used in older children.

4. Chicken soup. Chicken soup might help relieve cold and flu symptoms in two ways. First, it acts as an anti-inflammatory by inhibiting the movement of neutrophils — immune system cells that participate in the body's inflammatory response. Second, it temporarily speeds up the movement of mucus, possibly helping relieve congestion and limiting the amount of time viruses are in contact with the nose lining.

5. Antihistamines. First-generation (sedating) antihistamines may provide minor relief of several cold symptoms, including cough, sneezing, watery eyes and nasal discharge. However, results are conflicting and the benefits may not outweigh the side effects.

Onion-cough-syrup

Ingredients: 1 cup freshly chopped onion 1/2 cup raw honey 2 Tbsp. fresh chopped Ginger root OR 1 tsp. Ginger powder.

Take when needed.

1 tsp. for a younger child 1 Tbsp. for anyone 10 years and older

How to Make a Chest Rub

Ingredients: 2 parts coconut oil 1 part beeswax Eucalyptus essential oil (about 10 drops per ounce) White camphor essential oil (about 5 drops per ounce) Melt the oil and beeswax in a pan and then add the oils. The salve will harden within 10-15 minutes. If you find it is too soft, like the consistency of an ointment, you can scoop it back into the pan, remelt it and add more beeswax. If it is too hard, remelt and add more oil. I have also remelted to add more essential oil when I was not satisfied with the strength of the oils. This basic chest rub salve recipe can be altered or added to suit your individual needs or preferences. Essential oils of hyssop, rosemary, peppermint, thyme are a few examples of other oils that help relieve chest congestion. (Some essential oils should be avoided during pregnancy, so check the safety of any oils you plan to add if pregnant.)

Cold buster Remedy:

½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8 to 10 cloves of garlic 4 Tbsp. ground cayenne pepper Apple cider vinegar to cover Combine all the ingredients in a 2-liter (2 quart) size sealable container and fill almost to the top, leaving about 2 inches (50 mm) space at the top. Shake once a day for three weeks, strain and squeeze out as much liquid as you can. Heat on a low setting and add ½ c. of honey, stirring to dissolve. Rebottle and use as needed (2 tablespoons in a cup of hot water and sip)

Page 15: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Coughs

Ginger Tea — Combine 1 tbsp. dried ginger root and 2 cups water. Boil for 5 – 10 minutes. Strain. Add fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon) and honey to taste. Sore Throat Tea — Boil 1 c. water and pour over 1 tbsp. elderberries and 1/2 tbsp. rosehips. Steep for 10 minutes and Strain. You can drink it like this or add honey to taste. Humidifier — Set up a humidifier and add 4 – 5 drops each rosemary, eucalyptus and tea tree (if desired) essential oils. Allow this to diffuse in the person’s room while they are sleeping.

Stomach Viruses

Anti-Nausea Tea — this is best used for adults. Brew double-strength black tea and add a tablespoon of honey. Activated Charcoal — take 1 – 2 tablets at the first sign of nausea. This usually prevents vomiting. You can also add it to tea. Children’s Anti-Nausea tea — Boil 1 c. water. Add 1 tsp. lemon juice and 1 tsp. peppermint. Strain and add honey to taste.

Virus fighter

Virus fighter — Mix ¼ c. coconut oil with 1 clove fresh crushed garlic and 4 – 5 drops oregano essential oil. Apply this mixture while warm, but not too hot, to the feet and put socks on before going to bed. All three ingredients are potent anti-virals and can boost the body’s ability to fight off those nasty intruders.

Headaches

Compress with oils — dampen a dish cloth with warm water and put 2 – 3 drops clove or peppermint essential oil on it. Put it on your forehead. Heat — Use a heating pad, or a rice-filled sock. Heat in the microwave or in the oven at 350F for 10 minutes until hot. Place on your neck or head. Be careful not to burn, wrap in a kitchen cloth if too hot. Water — Drink a large glass of warm water. Epsom salt bath — Add 1 – 2 cups to a bath (as hot as you can take without burning). Lavender Oil — Use lavender oil for massage, or place a drop on your pillow before you go to bed.

For stress.

Chamomile tea.

Chamomile is one of the most effective calming herbs.

Page 16: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Lavender

Lavender is one of the most highly utilized plants for its calming effects. A quick relief method is to apply lavender essential oil to your temples and the nape of your neck.

Lemons for Morning Sickness

Pregnancy is a wonderful time for parents-to-be. The majority of pregnant women suffer from morning sickness. Many find their morning sickness so severe that it disrupts their everyday life. When every activity is being interrupted with trips to the bathroom, pregnant women need relief. Sniff them, eat them, lick them—the refreshing smell and taste of a lemon may calm your stomach. Suck on lemon drops if fresh fruit is not available. The fresh, citrus scent of lemons can almost immediately relieve nausea associated with morning sickness. Keep a zip lock bag full of fresh lemon slices for instant relief. You can also try ginger ale, ginger tea, pickled Chinese ginger, or ginger-based jam on toast.

Page 17: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Onions for Earaches

The antiseptic properties of onions can disinfect the ear canal, bringing quick pain relief. Boil an onion until it is soft. Once is has cooled enough to touch, squeeze the juice into a bowl. Using a dropper, apply 2-5 drops of the warm (not hot) juice into the affected ear.

Chocolate for a Cough

At last!! A legit reason to eat chocolate. Just don’t pretend to have a cough. Two ounces of dark chocolate may contain as much Theobromine as most over the counter cough medicines. Theobromine suppresses nerves responsible for the cough reflex. When this nerve is calmed by dark chocolate you can get a break from your hacking cough. Wikipedia on Theobromine: Theobromine, formerly known as xantheose, is a bitter alkaloid of the cacao plant, with the

chemical formula C7H8N4O2. It is found in chocolate, as well as in a number of other foods,

including the leaves of the tea plant, and the kola (or cola) nut. It is classified as

a xanthine alkaloid, which also includes the similar

compounds theophylline and caffeine. The compounds differ in their degree of methylation.

Yogurt for Yeast Infections

Yeast infections are a result of an imbalance in your pH levels. These levels can be thrown off by several reasons including medications, sickness and personal hygiene products. When you eat yogurt, the naturally occurring good bacteria found in yogurt can bring these pH levels back into balance and clear up a yeast infection naturally.

Hangovers.

Bananas

While you were intoxicated, lots of potassium drained from your body. Eating a banana bursting with potassium will give you some giddy-up and go.

Ginger

Ginger has been used to treat nausea and seasickness for hundreds of years and since having a hangover is much like being seasick, this easy remedy works wonders. If you are not feeling so great, the best bet is to drink ginger ale or make some ginger tea. Cut 10 to 12 slices of fresh ginger root and combine with 4 cups water. Boil for 10 minutes. Strain and add the juice of one orange, the juice of half a lemon, and 1/2 cup honey. Drink this and it should make you feel better.

Honey and Lemon

boil 1 cup water and mix in honey and lemon juice to taste. Enjoy a cup several times a day.

Page 20: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Water:

H2O is a must. As you no doubt know from the frequent trips to the bathroom during a night of debauchery, alcohol is a diuretic and can cause dehydration. Before falling into bed, down 16 to 20 ounces of water and the next time you go out, try and remember to order a glass of water with every beer or spirit and alternate between the two to replace lost fluids as you go.

Food

is probably the last thing you want to look at while recovering. Stay with clear liquids until you can tolerate something solid. Then start off slowly with mild, easy-to-digest foods such as plain toast, rice or clear soup. What you eat after drinking does not matter—it is what you eat before all those Jagermeisters that can help lessen the pain the next day. Food helps slow the absorption of alcohol, and the longer it takes the alcohol to reach your blood stream, the longer it is until you become intoxicated.

Pain Medication

Ease a pounding head with a pill (or two, depending on the recommended dosage), but stick to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (or NSAIDs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen), not acetaminophen (Tylenol): "While it's OK for a headache, when combined with a liver that's working overtime to metabolize alcohol, it can cause liver damage or be deadly," says Dr. Dena Davidson, Ph.D., former associate professor of psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Page 21: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Sport drinks

are a good way to replace fluids as well as electrolytes and glucose.

Juice

especially freshly squeezed orange juice, will help raise your blood sugar levels and help ease some of your hangover symptoms. However, if your stomach is upset, skip acidic juices such as orange juice and stick with apple juice instead.

Ice

Put an ice compress on your aching head. Place crushed iced in a plastic bag, wrap in a dry towel and apply it to where it hurts. Or just rinse a washcloth under cold water, place it on your forehead and rest.

Laundry

Add ½ c of baking soda to your wash to freshen up your clothes and keep the colours bright.

Pot scouring

Sprinkle a little baking soda into the pot and cover with hot water. Let set for an hour, the burned food will have loosened and be much easier to clean out.

Odour Remover

Keep an open box of baking soda in your fridge to absorb the odour. You can also sprinkle a little in the bottom of your trashcan to lessen the smell.

Drain Cleaner

Mix ¼ c baking soda, ½ c of white vinegar and a cup of hot water to clean your clogged drains.

Cloth Diapers

Sprinkle baking soda on each diaper before you add it to the wash. It will reduce the odour and aid the cleaning.

Page 23: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Soft Scrub

Mix 3 parts baking soda with 1 part warm water to make a paste for scrubbing stubborn stains in the bathroom and kitchen.

General

Crayon marks on walls

Heat the affected area with a blow dryer, and then wipe the crayon marks away with a paper towel.

Hand soap

You will need: 1 Bar of soap (one without additional moisturizers) 2 tablespoons Glycerine 1 US gallon (380 ml) of boiling water Grate the bar of soap into a large bowl while you boil the water. Add the grated soap and the glycerine to the boiling water and stir until all the soap melts. Remove from heat and let it cool overnight. Spoon into containers and use.

Hair detangling spray

Empty spray bottle Warm water 3 tablespoons of any hair conditioner Add the conditioner to the spray bottle, then pour the warm water in directly after. The conditioner should start to liquefy. You can add oils to this mixture if you’d like it to smell more. Shake to mix. Use it on wet or dry hair to prevent tangles.

Vinegar

Dishwashing soap

1 tablespoon Borax 1 tablespoon washing soda 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar ½ cup liquid castile soap 10 drops essential oil (whatever you prefer)

Page 24: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Mixing bowl Measuring cups and spoons Whisk Plastic or glass container Measure and add the Borax and washing soda to the mixing bowl. Then add the liquid castile soap and white vinegar. Boil the water and then slowly add in the ingredients. You might want to use a whisk during this. Add the scented oil at this point. Let the soap cool to room temperature (it will thicken as it cools).

Glass cleaner

1 cup water ¼ cup white vinegar 2 to 3 drops dishwashing liquid Empty spray bottle Combine the ingredients into the spray bottle… and that’s it.

Microwave oven

Microwave equal parts of water and vinegar until it boils. You can also just use plain water, but the vinegar will get rid of any lingering odours. Wipe with a damp cloth.

Smelly food containers

Wipe it down with white vinegar. When the vinegar evaporates, the smell will go with it.

Get rid of fruit flies

Set out a small dish of pure white vinegar close to the fruit.

In the bathroom

Spray full strength vinegar and wipe clean to get rid of germs. To remove mildew from your shower, wipe down with vinegar. Make sure to rinse with water afterwards. Deodorize your toilet bowl by pouring in vinegar, leave for 30 minutes and flush.

Garden weeds

Spray or pour on pure white vinegar.

Before putting on nail polish

Rub your nails with white vinegar before putting on your nail polish.

Page 25: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Carpet stain remover

Sprinkle corn starch on the stain and wait for 15 minutes. Vacuum the corn starch off the carpet. Mix one tablespoon dishwashing liquid, one tablespoon white vinegar, and two cups of hot water. Use a light-colored towel or rag and blot, sponge, and scrub the stain away. Depending on the severity of the stain, this may take some effort.

All-purpose cleaner

What you'll need: Glass containers or any sealable containers that you have Orange peels (Or any other citrus fruit peels.) 1 T Salt Vinegar Distilled Water 5-10 drops Essential oil (optional) Cut the orange peels into 1-inch pieces and put into glass containers. If you do not have glass containers you can fill any sealable containers that you have. Add enough salt to lightly cover the peels and let stand for 20-30 minutes (or longer). Fill the containers with 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar. Put a TIGHT FITTING lid on the jars/containers and let the solution stand and 2-3 weeks. The longer it stands the better. Strain the solution and fill a squirt bottle with your natural ORANGE cleaner. I just happened to have this one under my sink. If you are using an essential oil you will add it now.

Homemade Glass Cleaner

Ingredients 1/4 cup white vinegar (apple cider vinegar will work as well) 1/4 cup isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol 1 Tbsp cornstarch (the cornstarch reduces streaking — anyone know why?) 2 cups water Method 1. Combine everything in a spray bottle 2. Shake well to mix. 3. Spray onto glass surface and wipe clean. Always shake well before using. The first method to organically rid your yard of weeds is to spray the weeds with vinegar. I added straight vinegar to a spray bottle and went to town on the weeds that are coming up in the rocks by my front sidewalk.

Page 26: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Homemade Produce Cleaner

Ingredients ½ cup white vinegar 1 tablespoon baking soda 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 cup filtered or distilled water Directions If you choose to make a spray, pour the vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice and water into a clean, empty spray bottle. Shake gently to mix before using. Spray on fruits and vegetable, and let the sprayed produce sit for ten minutes. Rinse with cold water. Serve or store in a refrigerator.

Homemade dish washing liquid

Ingredients: 1/2 cup liquid castile soap 1/8 cup water 4 drops essential oil scent of choice 1tsp. vinegar Method: Mix and store in an old liquid dish soap bottle.

Homemade Oven Cleaner

Remove all the burnt food remains from the inside of your oven. Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of your oven. Pour just a small amount of white vinegar on top of the baking soda. Turn the oven on to 150 F for five minutes, this will melt some of the grease and loosen some of the dirt. Let the oven cool for about fifteen minutes. Scrub your oven thoroughly and wipe with a clean cloth dampened with warm water. Scrub some more. Wipe some more. Your oven will get clean – and you will be able to breathe without choking on the fumes of toxic chemicals.

Bee sting

Dab apple cider vinegar on the sting.

To clean an electric coffee maker

Use 1 part white vinegar to two parts water. If you have a 12 cup pot, fill it up to line 4 with white vinegar and fill it the rest of the way up to the top mark with water and transfer this to

Page 27: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

a jug. Next, pour the vinegar mixture into the coffee pot as though you were going to make some coffee without a filter. Switch it on and let it start brewing. When the cycle is done, let it stand for 20 minutes. To get rid of the vinegar taste do this twice more but this time without the vinegar. Let it stand 15 minutes after each brew. Wash it in hot soapy water.

Homemade furniture polish

Ingredients Juice of half a lemon (about 1 ½ T) 3 T Olive oil 1 t White vinegar Directions Squeeze half of a lemon into a small bowl. Add olive oil and vinegar. Whisk the three ingredients together and rub the polish on wooden furniture with a soft dusting cloth. To avoid an oily surface, rub really well.

Crock pot cleaner

Fill the pot ⅔’s full of water and add a ¾ cup of distilled white vinegar. Make sure you cover the stubborn stuck on food completely. Then put the lid on and turn it to high. Let it cook for at least 2 hours. If the food was REALLY stuck on you may have to wipe out what has been released and do this a couple of times.

Fruit and veg cleaner

Fill the kitchen sink1/4 to 1/2 of the way full of cold water . Pour in 1 to 1 1/2 cups of white vinegar and put fruits and veggies in to soak. After 10 minutes rinse the fruit well and dry with a towel.

Page 28: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Repel Bugs, Ants, and Insects

Vinegar

Spray vinegar on and around any area that has an ant or bug problem.

Plants and Herbs

Basil, mint, lemongrass, rosemary, garlic citronella plants, marigolds, and tansies are all fantastic bug, ant, and insect repellents. Plant them in your garden and put them in pots around your doors and windows. They will add colour to the exterior while also keeping those pesky bugs at bay. You can even put an entire bunch of the herbs or crush them and sprinkle them around your indoor problem areas.

Cinnamon

Sprinkle cinnamon on any areas you see ants and wherever they are entering the house. You can also dust items like the sugar bowl with cinnamon to keep ants away.

Baby Powder

Ants do not like baby powder so it can be used in a way similar to cinnamon.

Chalk

If you know where ants are entering your home, draw a circle around the opening with chalk. They will not cross over the line.

Personal Insect Repellent

Many of these natural repellents can be adapted to act as a repellent that can be used on your body.

Herbs

Steep mint, rosemary, or basil in hot water like you would tea. Pour into a spray bottle and store in your refrigerator. Use as an insect repellent by spraying on your skin when needed.

Onion

Rub a slice of onion over your skin to keep mosquitoes and other insects away.

Citrus Peels

Rub citrus peels on skin, keep bugs away.

Page 29: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Vanilla Extract

Mix one cup of water and one tablespoon of vanilla extract. Bugs will stay away if you spray onto your skin.

3 % Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)

Fruit and veg.

Wash vegetables and fruits with hydrogen peroxide to remove dirt and pesticides. Add 1/4 cup of H2O2 to a sink of cold water. After washing, rinse thoroughly with running water.

In the dishwasher

Add 2 oz. to your regular detergent for a sanitizing boost. Also, beef up your regular dish soap by adding roughly 2 ounces to the bottle.

Mouthwash

Use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash to freshen breath. It kills the bacteria that causes halitosis. Use a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water.

Brushing teeth

Use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste for brushing teeth. Helps with early stages of gingivitis as it kills bacteria. Mixed with salt and baking soda, hydrogen peroxide works as a whitening toothpaste.

Toothbrushes

Soak your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide between uses to keep it clean and prevent the transfer of germs.

Refrigerator and dishwasher

Wipe out your refrigerator and dishwasher. Because it is non-toxic, it is great for cleaning places that store food and dishes.

Sponges

Clean your sponges. Soak them for 10 minutes in a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water in a shallow dish. Rinse the sponges thoroughly afterward.

Pots and pans

Remove grime from pots and pans. Combine hydrogen peroxide with enough baking soda to make a paste, then rub onto the dirty pan and let it stand for a while. Clean with a scrubbing sponge and some warm water.

Page 31: storage.googleapis.com · ½ c. ginger root, freshly grated ½ c. onion, freshly chopped ½ c. fresh rosemary, chopped ½ c. fresh sage leaves, chopped ½ c. grated horseradish 8

Bathtub grout

Whiten bathtub grout. First dry the tub thoroughly, and then spray it liberally with hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit — it may bubble slightly — for a little while, then come back and scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. You may have to repeat the process a few times.

Toilet bowl

Clean the toilet bowl. Pour half a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the toilet bowl, let stand for 20 minutes, then scrub clean and flush.

Clothing, curtains, and tablecloths

Remove stains from clothing, curtains, and tablecloths. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a pre-treat for stains, soak the stain for 15 minuits in 3% hydrogen peroxide before putting into the laundry. You can also add a cup of peroxide to a regular load of whites to boost brightness. It’s a green alternative to bleach, and works just as well.

Kids’ toys and play areas

Clean kids’ toys and play areas. Hydrogen peroxide is a safe cleaner to use around kids, or anyone with respiratory problems, because it is nontoxic. Spray toys, toy boxes, doorknobs, and anything else your kids touch on a regular basis.

Hair

Add natural highlights to your hair. Dilute the hydrogen peroxide so the solution is 50% peroxide and 50% water. Spray the solution on wet hair to create subtle, natural highlights or dye.

Detoxify the body

Adding half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to a warm bath can help detoxify the body. Some are sceptical of this claim, but a bath is always a nice way to relax and the addition of hydrogen peroxide will leave you – and the tub – squeaky clean!

Leftover salad

Spray a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide on leftover salad, drain, cover and refrigerate. This will prevent wilting and better preserve your salad.
