Pathfinder Uniform, 1979 to 1987

The Pathfinder program started in the fall of 1979. A full

range of uniform items first appeared in the 1979-1980

Catalogue.

The official Pathfinder Uniform consisted of:

• Skirt, Navy Blue, A-Line, official design

• Pants, Navy Blue, official design

• Blouse, White, long-sleeved, official design

• Tie, White nylon square with green maple leaves

and blue border (becomes a triangle in 1984)

• Short Badge Sash, Green

• Shoes, Brown, Black or Blue (uniform in group)

(1979-1981); Appropriate (1981-1987)

• Stockings, Beige OR Knee Socks, Navy (uniform in

group, 1979-1984) (Individual choice, 1984-1987)

• Cardigan, Navy (optional)

• Belt, Navy Elastic with metal buckle (1979-1980)

For Camp and Unofficial Occasions, the following

pieces could be worn in addition to those above:

• Camp Hat, Blue

• Short Shorts, Navy (1979-1982)

• Jamaica Shorts, Navy (1979-1982)

• Jogging Shorts, Copen Blue (1981-1987)

• Activity Skirt, Copen Blue (1979-1980)

• Wrap Skirt, Blue (1980-1987)

• Blouse, Blue and White Check, Short-sleeved

(change from zipper to open neck in 1983)

• Knee Socks, Navy

A White T-Shirt with a scoop neck, cap sleeves and a

maple leaf motif in green on the left breast was offered

from 1982 to 1986, but was not considered official camp

uniform.

Pathfinder Uniforms, 1987-2004

A new mix-and-match uniform for Pathfinders was

launched in 1987, consisting of the following options:

• Wrap Skirt, Navy Blue (1987-1999)

• Half-Circle Skirt, Navy Blue (1987-1998)

• Dirndl Skirt, White with Navy pinstripe (1989-1999)

• Button-Front Skirt, Navy Blue (1993-2004)

• A-Line Skirt, Navy Blue (1993-2001)

• Pants, Navy Blue, official design (1987-2001)

• Cargo Pants, Navy Blue (2000-2004)

• Blouse, White with Navy pinstripe, short– or long-

sleeved, official design

• Polo Shirt, White/Navy Striped

• Belt, Navy/White Stripe

• Belt, Navy Leather (1988-1995)

• Green Tie with two white stripes (1987-2002)

• White Scarf with Green Maple Leaves (2002-2004)

• Short Badge Sash, Green

• Cardigan, Navy

• Sweatshirt, Navy with White Maple Leaf Motif

• Stockings, Neutral OR Knee Socks, Navy Blue

(1987-1993); Appropriate (1993-2004)

• Shoes, Appropriate (1987-2004)

For Camp and Unofficial Occasions, the following

• Camp Hat, Navy (1987-1998); Bush Hat, Navy (1994

• Sweatpants, Navy Blue (1987-2002)

• Camp T-Shirt, Navy/White Striped (1993-2002)

• Turtleneck, White (1989-1993) (not official uniform,

1989-1991)

• Teen T-Shirts, Green, Yellow, Red, Grey (1999-

2004)

• Knee Socks, Navy Blue (1987-1999)

• Ankle Socks, Navy Blue (1993-2004)


A new uniform for Pathfinders was introduced in 2004.

While it still offered options, they were greatly reduced

from the previous uniform:

• Green V-neck T-Shirt with White sleeves and trim

• White V-neck T-Shirt with Green sleeves and trim

• White 3/4-Length Sleeve Top, 2004-2008

• Navy Cargo Pants (new style)

• White Scarf with Green Maple Leaves (as introduced

in 2002)

• Short Green Sash (as introduced in 1987), 2004-

2006

• Short Navy Sash, 2004-2006

With the introduction of the new program in 2006, the

sashes were discontinued and a Navy Pin Tab added.

Some optional items were retained:

• Green Bucket Hat with Trefoil on the front , 2004-

2009

• Navy Pull-On Shorts, 2004-2006

• Navy Ankle Socks, 2004-2009

• Navy Fleece Vest, 2009-2012

And new optional items added:

• Navy Hoodie with Guides Canada across the chest,

two pockets, and a full zipper, 2004-2009



Changes were made to the Pathfinder Uniform in 2009,

removing many of the options. The official uniform now

consisted of:

• Green V-neck T-Shirt with White sleeves and trim

• Navy Cargo Pants (new style)

• White Scarf with Green Maple Leaves

• Navy Pin Tab (new logo on metal bar)


• Navy Ankle Socks, 2009-2011


And new optional items added:

• Navy Bucket Hat with White Trefoil on the front,

2009-2012

• Navy Hoodie with GGC logo on the left breast, two

pockets, and a full zipper, 2009-2012

Pathfinder Uniforms, 2012-

Changes were made to all youth uniforms in 2012,

making blue the dominant colour and using the branch

colours as accents.

The new Pathfinder Uniform consists of:

• Blue T-Shirt with Green trim at bottom, cuffs, and

inset at neck

• Navy Blue Cargo Pants (as introduced in 2009)

• Navy Blue Pin Tab

• White Triangular Scarf with Green Maple Leaves

(change to an all-over maple leaf design in 2015)


• Navy Bucket Hat with White Trefoil on the front,

2012-

• Navy Fleece Vest, 2012-

• Navy Hoodie with GGC logo on the left breast, two

pockets, and a full zipper, 2012-

A optional place for module badges was added in 2014:

• Navy Blue Badge Sash, 2014-
