    CAMPBELTOWN

Located on the Kintyre Peninsula of Scotland. Once a major producer of whisky with as many as 28 distilleries and claiming the title ‘Whisky Capital of the World.’ Production has markedly declined, most of these distilleries have gone out of business and little trace of them remain in the Campbeltown area.

    1/2 - full - bottle

    Springbank distillery produces three expressions:

    • Springbank: medium-peated and distilled 2 and a half times.• Hazelburn: non-peated and triple distilled.• Longrow: heavily-peated and distilled twice.

Springbank is the only Scottish distillery to complete 100% of the production process on site.

    BOURBON

Bourbon is made primarily from corn. The spirit got its name through a historical association with an area known as ‘Old Bourbon’ — now known as ‘Bourbon County’, Kentucky (named after the French House of Bourbon Royal Family). Despite its strong connection with Kentucky, bourbon can be made anywhere in the US.

    JAPANESE

This category has never been hotter. We can partially thank Jim Murray’s 2015 Whisky Bible which named Yamazaki Sherry Cask the ‘Worlds Best Whisky.’ Japanese whisky has strongly been influenced by Scottish methods and their scientific knowledge about production allows distilleries to create a wide range of different styles and flavors.

    CANADIAN

For too long, Canadian whisky has gotten a bad reputation, but the world of Canadian whisky has been quietly evolved, becoming broader and richer over the past decade. They are starting to move beyond whisky as simply a high-volume commodity. Keep an eye out for new releases in this category.

Historically "Rye whisky" and "Canadian whisky" have been interchangeable, regardless of whether the whisky is actually rye. There is only one law for producing Canadian whisky–it must be fermented, distilled, and aged in Canada.

Until the late 1880s, cocktails were sipped through a hollowed out stalk of rye grass. One day, Washington resident Marvin Stone was sucking down his Mint Julep and it occurred to him that even paper would do a better job. He tightly wrapped several strips of paper around a pencil, then he removed the pencil and glued the papers into a sturdy cylindrical shape. This immediately caught on with drinkers around the country, and in 1888, the inventor patented a version made of paraffin-coated manila.

    INDEPENDENT BOTTLERS

It has become customary in Scotland for distilleries to sell barrels of whisky to independent bottlers as a means of making additional income. Distilleries also pass on barrels of whisky to ensure consistency. If a particular flavour is notably different, it may be deemed uncharacteristic of the distillery and as such cannot be used in ‘official’ product bottlings. The following list represents various independent bottlings from their respective bottlers.
