Flourish Campaign

On October 13, Covenant Church and Covenant Christian School launched a three-year capital campaign called Flourish, for the purpose of expanding our facility in order to enhance and expand our impact for the Kingdom of God. This campaign is part of Covenant’s commitment to helping each member and ministry grow deeper roots in the Gospel in order to have a wider reach with the Gospel. The building plan for the expanded facility includes:

• The Commons: ten appropriately sized classrooms for Adult Sunday School and Covenant Christian School

• An expanded community space with a bright and lively environment for cultivating community

• Renovated nurseries with a larger, safer space for infants and toddlers

• A new main entry that provides a warm welcome into our church building 2019 Highlights • Ten individuals came together to make up the Flourish Committee: Ryan Laughlin, Chris

Smith, John Roberts, Maggie Blow, Liz Reel, Julie Theus, Katie Beim-Esche, Bill Campbell, Steve Linton, and Dean Kappel.

• The following events were held as part of the campaign:

- May: two church town halls and two school town halls - October: School Campaign Kick-Off event

- November: Church Commitment Sunday

• The church engaged in a 5-week sermon and teaching series on the theme of Flourish that integrated sermons, Sunday school, stories, and personal testimonies.

• We ended the year with $6,030,559 in total pledges, exceeding our 6-million-dollar goal! Praise the Lord!

2020 Outlook As we look towards the next three years, we are excited about the things God will continue to do through Flourish. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.

FSI Conference: Speaking the Truth in Love On March 1-3, Covenant hosted a conference to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Francis Schaeffer Institute at Covenant Seminary and our church's 80th anniversary. The goal of the conference was to rediscover the enduring legacy of Francis Schaeffer, who played such a significant role in the life of our church as well as the seminary. The conference speakers urged those in attendance to take seriously Schaeffer's challenge for "each generation of the church [to be] responsible for communicating the Gospel in their time and their place.” Over 75 people attended the weekend, including church members, friends of FSI, seminary students and faculty, as well as folks from the broader St. Louis community. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Bryan Follis, pastor of Hillsborough Parish Church in Northern Ireland and author of the book Truth With Love: the Apologetics of Francis Schaeffer, offered insights into Schaeffer's approach to apologetics that remain relevant today, as we seek to share the Gospel with others. In his talk, Professor Jerram Barrs described the role of hospitality in Schaeffer's ministry and how genuine hospitality remains a critical part of communicating the truth in love. Pastor Thurman Williams, pastor of New City Fellowship-West End, considered the ongoing importance of Schaeffer's insistence that there are "no little people" in the world. Saturday's session ended with Professor Mark Ryan joining our speakers for a lively Q & A session on how we must faithfully speak the truth of the Gospel in love. Sunday morning, Bryan Follis preached both morning services. Sunday evening, singer-songwriter, Matt Epps, shared his music and his passion for integrating his faith in Jesus with his vocation. Thanks to everyone who attended this wonderful weekend. Special thanks to our Harris Seminary Intern, Pablo Rosales, who did an outstanding job promoting the conference and organizing on-line registration.

Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the Congregation of The Covenant Presbyterian Church

January 20, 2019

Pastor Ryan Laughlin called the meeting to order in the sanctuary of the church at 6:05 p.m. He declared a quorum to be present. Pastor Roberts prayed to open the meeting.

The congregation sang “All for Jesus” and then recited the Apostle's Creed. At Pastor Laughlin's request, the tellers distributed the ballots for elder and deacon. Nominated for elder were John Bauer and Bill Hughes. Nominated for deacon were Mike Castle, Dave Gegel and Lewis Hettinga. Pastor Laughlin reported that the Session had recommended that Pastor Chris Smith be elected by the congregation to Associate Pastor. At Pastor Laughlin’s request, the tellers distributed the ballots for the proposed change of call of Pastor Chris Smith. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the minutes from the January 21, 2018 Annual Meeting of the Congregation was approved as presented. Pastor Laughlin reported on the status of the Master Site Plan. He stated that the staff and committee had received feedback from the congregation on the project over 2017-2018. He also reminded the congregation that the corporation had purchased the Summers property after the June 2018 corporation meeting. This acquisition enabled the plan to be revised to accomplish the feedback from the members. Pastor Laughlin reported that a feasibility study would now be undertaken to determine what the church can afford and that the results of the feasibility study were expected to be received by April 2019. If the project was determined to be feasible, a capital campaign would launch later in 2019. He responded to questions from the congregation. Pastor Laughlin reported on the status of the church security project which included a training session on October 27, 2018. He discussed the other features of the security plan that was covered by the $15,000 budget security item. The tellers reported to Pastor Laughlin that all nominated officer candidates had been elected. The tellers also reported that Pastor Chris Smith was elected as Associate Pastor. Ed Leutwiler prayed for the newly elected elders, deacons and Associate Pastor Chris Smith. The Session’s report stated that there were 533 members at the end of 2018 There being no further business, Noah Brink gave the closing prayer. Pastor Laughlin declared the annual meeting of the congregation closed at 6:30 p.m.

Adult Discipleship: Adult Sunday School 2019 Highlights • The adult education committee seeks to use the adult Sunday school time as a springboard

Children’s Ministries The Lord continues to faithfully bless the work of our Children’s Ministries within the walls of Covenant Church and as we reach out into our surrounding community.

• Fun With Faith: Fun With Faith is our after-school Bible club at Barretts Elementary. This is our fourth year of official involvement as a church. We graduated our largest class up to the middle school, but the Lord continues to bring new children to the club. So far, we have 18 children from kindergarten through fifth grade. The relationships, witness, and outreach opportunities we have at this public school are a treasure we do not take lightly. It is sweet to see kids run into the hallways to hug us – although we do have to remind them not to run out of class J Our time this year is being focused on discovering God’s plan of salvation in Jesus. We are thankful for our Covenant family’s continued active support of this ministry — through prayer, helping with groups, and providing financial contributions.

• Town and Country Fall Festival: This was the fifth year we coordinated with other area churches to present a Kids Corner at the Town and Country Fall Festival. Our involvement has expanded over the years and has become a significant feature of the festival – complete with crafts, games, prizes, and inflatables. Town and Country is always appreciative of our contributions and it is sweet to hear families talk about how this is becoming one of their annual traditions. In addition to building relationships with the municipality, it also allows our volunteers opportunities to engage community members in conversation and begin building relationships.

• VBS: The Lord continues to richly bless our week of Vacation Bible School. The Incredible Race, this year’s theme, taught us that God is calling people – no matter where we live, what shade of skin we have, or what language we speak, through his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. God wants us to share this good news in kindness and love with our neighbors nearby and far away. Over 200 children and over 100 volunteers joined us for the week. We all had a fantastic time together with engaging Bible stories, memory work, songs, games, and snacks. After the week was completed, we had the blessing of passing along our decorations to another area church who was using the same theme.

• Operation Christmas Child: It is an ongoing priority of Children’s Ministries to help nurture a servant heart in each of the children. 83 Operation Christmas Child boxes were packed and delivered to be sent to children across the world.

• Code 56: Part of what makes Children’s Ministries vibrant is the extra events throughout the year, which afford us an opportunity to nurture our relationships with one another. Since our annual trip to Aquaport had been rained out in two successive years for our 6th graders, we scheduled a special pool time for them on their last Sunday in Children’s ministries. Our regular Code 56 events consisted of bowling, a “Minute to Win It” game night, Aquaport, and a photo scavenger hunt. Our 5th and 6th grade girls also served dinner at Grace and Peace Women’s Shelter in December. It was a sweet evening of food and fellowship and the women greatly appreciated the carols and craft time as well.

• Kids Praise/Kids Praise Junior: Kids Praise and Kids Praise Junior are our more hands-on children’s programs that take place during the evening service on Sundays. Our Kids Praise class started off the year with a Treasure Hunt unit connecting to Jesus, our greatest treasure. At the end of the Spring, we did an Escape Room unit to look at different ways God provides escape for us when we are faced with temptation. In the Summer, we spent time on a Missions unit connected to Paul’s travels. In the Fall, we prepared the newest musical by Laughlin and Johnson, Dani and the Wisemen. Kids Praise Jr. spent the Spring and Fall going through The Jesus Storybook Bible and joined with the older group of Kids Praisers for our Missions unit.

• Children’s Worship: We sent surveys to families and volunteers to determine how best to support our Covenant families without overextending our volunteer leaders. It was ultimately decided to have the 8:30 service be volunteer led while the 11:00 service will be led by Children’s Ministries leaders and parent helpers. This worship training time for our children during both morning services continues to be a blessing to our kids and families. As leaders go through an order of worship each week with kids, they explain why our worship is structured the way it is and instruct children in the Lord’s Prayer and Apostles Creed along with a Bible lesson.

• Sunday School: The cornerstone of our service to our Covenant family continues to be the Sunday School program. Our elementary children spent the year exploring Genesis to 1 Kings. It is incredibly exciting to see children making connections within Scripture and being able to recognize how passages point to Jesus. We continue intentionally structuring the large group time for this age to be interactive. Children spend their Small Group time in age-graded classes, further subdivided by gender. Our 2-year-old through Kindergarten children continued in their curriculum rotation, exploring monthly truths about God supported by various stories from Scripture. Across age levels, memory work is emphasized, and Biblical truths are reinforced through a variety of active learning strategies. We had our third Kindergarten Bible presentation during worship in May, where Kindergarteners transitioning into 1st grade received Bibles from their parents. This continues to be a meaningful time for families and our Covenant family as a whole.

• Volunteers: Of course, Children’s Ministries would not be possible without the hundreds of faithful teen and adult volunteers who share their love, energy, and time so generously with our children and families. We are so grateful for their faithful involvement and servants’ hearts. These relationships help our kids experience the reality that we are a Covenant family the Lord has knit together in Christ.

• Flourish: As we look to the coming year, we are eager to see how God will continue to lead our church in regard to the building facilities. We are thrilled at the prospect of being able to create a warmer, more inviting space to better meet our programming needs and have facilities that match the amazing children and volunteers that utilize them each week. We are so thankful for what God has done this past year in the lives of our children and volunteers and eagerly look forward to what He has in store for the coming year.

Choir 2019 Highlights • By God’s grace the choir is thriving with a full loft of joyous and dedicated worshipers of our

Lord Jesus Christ. Those involved in the choir find their commitment a great opportunity for fellowship and active participation and leadership in CPC’s morning services. We also continue to form special singing ensembles throughout the year and are expanding our musical range as we seek to include and reach more people within our congregation. This year we’ve enjoyed inviting more instrumentalists to help lead in workshop with extra special music alongside our Flourish campaign.

• In December we caroled at Friendship Village sharing the Gospel and Christmas cheer. We also presented a Christmas Choir Concert “Joy to the World” with string quartet and other instrumentalists from our congregation.

• We are incredibly blessed to have so many musicians in our church family with a desire to use their gifts in leading worship.

Contact If you would like to participate in the choir, either regularly or occasionally, please contact our choir director, Katie Beim-Esche: [email protected].

City Missions Committee 2019 Highlights • This year Covenant continued to build upon our mission to see the love of Christ reach into

the darkest places in our city through the financial support and personal time given to various city ministries.

• We continue to work primarily through the work of Restore St Louis – an umbrella ministry in St Louis that contains prison ministry, widows ministry, food provisions, immigrant ministry, and other ways that Covenant members get directly involved.

• We continued our work with Grace and Peace, providing meals and supplies to mothers in need, and our work with Forai – a ministry that trains refugee women to make and sell handcrafts.

• Other highlights of the year include: - Our annual Trivia Night was once again an event to remember. We raised close to 3k for

City Missions, and got to enjoy Gordon Reel’s decade-specific costumes. - We introduced some new faces to the Workday Ministry (a Restore St Louis ministry)

that, every 2nd Saturday joins us with city churches to provide home repair services for mostly widow and immigrant communities.

- We signed up 6 new letter-writers for the Inside-Out Letter-Writing Prison Ministry – a opportunity to begin a new correspondence with prisoners and ex-prisoners who desire to communicate with believers.

- Covenant gave roughly $14,000 to Restore St Louise, and Grace and Peace Mission this year.

We praise God for allowing us to join in his work in the city; through the time and skill we can give, along with our money – He uses it all to building his kingdom in St Louis. Contact If you are interested in joining City Missions, or volunteering with us in any way, please reach out to anyone on the committee – Lois Miller, Steve Hiler, Ryan Laughlin, John Shim, Gordon Reel, or Garrett Jacobs.

Communion Committee

Those of us on this committee are honored to serve the church in this way. 2019 Highlights • As of December 2019, Raynell Gegel and Julie Teoli are leaving the Communion

Committee. We would like to offer our gratitude for their many years of faithful service.

• We’ve revised illustrated instructions for the setup of the communion table and posted them in the cabinet above the preparation area. They might be helpful in teaching anyone interested in volunteering and serve as a reminder for those of us who are new or serve infrequently.

• We are actively searching for a volunteer to replace Raynell Gegel as the chairperson for the evening communion services. Claudia Gold is handling the duties in the interim. The duties of this person are: - Bake communion bread for the first Sunday of the month and deliver it to the morning

service chairperson (currently Claudia Gold).

- Put together the annual schedule for evening service communion preparers. - Remind the evening communion preparer one week before they serve.

- Find substitutes or other volunteers to accommodate their schedules. - Coordinate with CPC office regarding date changes.

- Serve as one of the evening communion preparers on the annual rotation schedule.

• The Communion Committee consists of Ed and Liz Leutwiler, Linda Yates, Kimberly McGuire, Joanne Brands, and Claudia Gold, Debbie Litzsinger, and Holly Smith. Barb Keane is an additional volunteer.

Contact If you are interested in serving on the Communion Committee, please contact Claudia Gold: [email protected] or 314-629-9625.

Community Groups Community Groups continue to be a place to foster connection and relationships within the church family. 2019 Highlights As of December, there are 14 community groups and over 220 members participating regularly. They meet at various times during the week, mostly hosted at homes of members. Every group differs on what they study or discuss. Some do Bible studies, topical book studies, sermon discussion and fellowship. The church provides assistance for childcare if needed. We had 2 new groups in the fall. We did an afternoon of training on being an emotionally healthy leader for the community group leaders. 2019 Outlook • We are hoping to add a group in the Tower Grove area if possible. There will also be a

leadership/development training again in the spring.

• There will be more training days for leaders in the spring. Contact: If you are interested in joining an existing group, or forming a new group, please contact Mary Bell: [email protected] or 314-432-8700.

Covenant Christian School

Currently in the midst of its 17th year, Covenant Christian School, under the leadership of the board of directors, continues to experience the Lord’s blessing. The school serves children age 3 to 6th grade. Enrollment has climbed to capacity, financial needs are being met, plans for the future are progressing and the school’s mission, vision and distinctives are at the forefront. Board of Directors A board of directors, made up of 11 members, guides the school. The board, in turn, is responsible to the church Session. Eight members of the board are church members while three come from outside the Covenant Church community. School board members include: Bill Campbell, Chair; Nikki Rutz, Vice-Chair; Chad Frizzell, Secretary; Ed Sunder, Treasurer; Jennifer Benes; Jamey Brester; Katie Brink; Bill Cahill; Brian Clawson; Joel Hathaway; Becky Linton; Todd Schultz, and Scott Vonder Bruegge. Foundation The foundation of the school is the mission, vision and distinctives as approved by the school board. These are:

• Mission: Educating the whole child to the glory of God in a grace-filled environment.

• Vision: We will be a community rooted in God’s grace, educating the whole child to impact the world for Christ. What Do We Mean by the Whole Child? Covenant School educates the whole child by coming alongside each learner to help them grow spiritually, intellectually, artistically, emotionally, socially and physically.

• Distinctives: - Biblical - Covenant students analyze all things through the lens of Scripture and learn

discernment by navigating difficult issues and ideas, without fear, as they prepare to speak into the world.

- Relational - Covenant’s purposefully small size allows for deep relationships within the community. Opportunities for intentional teacher-student and cross-grade relationships, are carefully fostered.

- Integral - Covenant’s curriculum has been purposefully designed to provide students with an understanding of the connected nature of all of God’s creation.

- Experiential - Understanding the connected nature of God’s creation, Covenant uses both conventional classroom teaching and outdoor classroom experiences that bring a depth and richness to student learning. By doing so, students confidently explore their gifts and all of God’s creation in meaningful and creative ways.

School Ministry Description Covenant Christian School serves students ages PK3 through 6th grade. The school is committed to educating the "whole child" in a Christ-centered, grace-filled atmosphere. Covenant features purposefully small class sizes in a caring, close-knit community, where cross-grade relationships are carefully nurtured. Located on 12 beautiful acres in St. Louis County, Covenant houses a unique standalone outdoor learning lab in its extensive outdoor classroom, including several gardens, a windmill and a prairie. Students find academic success through an integral, experiential curriculum that includes Art, Drawing, Music and PE. Covenant encourages children to be children, meeting their individual needs while assisting them as they explore their gifts and all of God's creation in meaningful and creative ways. Enrollment For the 2019-2020 school year the school ministry has 156 students. Curriculum The school is wrapping up an overhaul of its curriculum. The focus of the overhaul is ensuring that the whole of the curriculum reflects the school’s integral, experiential distinctives. Finances Covenant Christian School ended the 2018-2019 school year in the black. For the 2019-2020 school year total gifts of $120,000 are needed to balance the budget.

Diaconate Ministry 2019 Highlights • This year saw an increase in the men who served to eight. Thank you to all the past deacons

and volunteered to assist with Sunday morning duties!

• Despite weather challenges, we conducted the traditional leaf-raking. Much thanks to the youth who joined us in our efforts! THANKS to all who participated!

• Much attention has been given to reorganizing the Sunday morning duties along with maintenance and care for our current facilities.

• From a mercy ministry standpoint, the Diaconate allocated $15,379 to fund 35 requests for assistance. [This compares to $23,223 to fund 49 requests for assistance (86% church members and14% non-members) in 2018.] The support was 89% for church members and 11% for non-church members. The requests for assistance ranged from simply physical needs, such as car repairs, to request for counseling or financial mentoring. There are even requests for personal assistance with minor repairs around homes or living spaces.

• None of the leaf raking, physical, and financial support would be possible without the generosity of Covenant Presbyterian Church Members. Praise God for your heart in supporting Diaconate efforts throughout 2019!

Seminary Students 2019 Highlights • Covenant Presbyterian Church has had a long history of being closely tied to Covenant

Seminary. We are blessed to regularly see students and their families attend and get involved at CPC.

• A variety of Fellowship Events took place over the course of the year with our students including:

- After church seminary student/family potlucks. - CTS Women’s Tea at the Laughlin’s House.

- Regular lunches on campus with CPC pastors.

• This year, we hired our fourth Harris Pastoral Intern, Adam Lopez.

• Several seminary students and interns also work with Greg Meyer and our Youth Ministry. For several years now, this has been a crucial way of allowing our seminary students to gain ministry experience.

• Other seminary students find they have lots of opportunities to serve in the church in order to fulfill Field Ed hours, Internship Requirements, and to simply be a part of the body.

2020 Outlook We continue to look forward to serving our seminary student community and fully hope, Lord-willing, for this pocket of our church to thrive. Covenant has long been a “sending” church and we only pray that this continues over the course of this year. Contact If you are gifted in caring for seminary students and families or desire to get involved with the seminary student community at Covenant Church, contact Chris Smith: [email protected] or 314-432-8700.

Special Needs Ministry 2019 Highlights This ministry works with special needs members enabling their families to attend church services. Sadly, Cheri Birchler, one of our special needs members, went to be with the Lord in 2019. Our other special needs friend is Jeremy Sparkman. A team of two volunteers sits with Jeremy each Sunday while his parents are in worship service. Our volunteers assist Jeremy as he enjoys putting together jigsaw puzzles and, occasionally, he rewards us with a big smile!

We are thankful for our 16 volunteers and appreciate their time and love to our special friends. 2020 Outlook We would love to have more volunteers join us. It is a joy to get acquainted with Jeremy and his family and the other volunteers. Volunteers serve every 8 weeks. Contact Raynell Gegel: 314-822-7119 or [email protected]

- Referrals: Mary Bell and Chris Smith - Training and Continuing Education: Carol Kappel

- Awareness Building: Linda Yates - Team and Ministry Leader: Mary Beth McGreevy

• Informational meetings were held for church members interested in the possibility of becoming Stephen Ministers.

• Interviews were held with those who submitted applications to be trained as Stephen Ministers.

• Twelve potential Stephen Ministers were accepted through the interview process to begin the 50 hours of training in April. They completed their training in August and were commissioned during the morning worship services on August 25th: Taylor Begley, Sherri Castle, Claudia Gold, Steve Hiler, Kathy Jacobs, Mike Koller, Liz Leutwiler, Jonathan McGuire, Kimberly McGuire, Julie Roberts, Julie Theus, and Charlene Tipton.

• In September, the twice-monthly continuing education and peer group supervision meetings began.

• Six of our Stephen Ministers now have care receivers. Together they have spent cumulatively approximately 50 hours with those care receivers this fall.

2020 Outlook • Six of our Stephen Ministers are open to have care receivers. If you or someone you know is

going through a difficult time and could benefit from one-on-one Christian care, please let any of the Stephen Ministry Leaders know so they can help you pursue that possibility.

• Throughout the year there will be many avenues for educating our congregation about Stephen Ministry: ministry moments, Sunday school, and informational meetings, etc., with the goal of helping people know if Stephen Ministry could be a help to them or if they would like to apply to become a Stephen Minister.

• Through these informational opportunities, we will be collecting applications with the hope of having our next training of new Stephen Ministers in 2021.

Contact • For referrals: Mary Bell ([email protected]) or Chris Smith ([email protected])

• For any information: Carol Kappel ([email protected]), Mary Beth McGreevy ([email protected]), or Linda Yates ([email protected])

They love our church family very well! 2019 Highlights Service and Compassion – Beth Allen-Shumate and Charity Larrimore

• Grace and Peace Women’s Shelter – We are thankful to still be a part of this ministry. If you are interested in serving during the winter months there is a sign-up sheet located on the Women’s Ministry bulletin board by the Fellowship Hall. Community Groups, individual members, and our older elementary girls can provide food, serve a meal at the shelter, or participate in other ways.

• Women’s Love Gift – This year the annual love gift of the PCA was for Covenant Seminary. We raised over $400 to donate at our annual Advent Celebration!

• Visitation/Cards – There is a regular group of ladies (widows/homebound) who are visited regularly at their homes. Often times the Moms of Littles ministry will have the children make cards and come along on the visits. It is such a blessing to be connected to the older generation in our church family. Anyone is welcome to join us with visits or sending cards. There are free cards to use in the Narthex in the top drawer of the chest by the main entrance. Starting this year, we planned a visiting day once a month, where whoever wants to visit a lady meets at the church and can team up with another person.

• Care Meals – We continue to use www.TakeThemAMeal.com to provide meals for any family after a new baby arrival, medical procedure, etc. See the Connections in the church bulletin for current needs and passwords. Please contact the church office at 314-432-8700 if you feel someone in our church family could benefit from some care meals.

Bible Studies – Julie Bauer, Evonne Moore, and Joyce Dana

• Spring – We finished our study on 1st and 2nd Corinthians.

• Summer – We did a topical study using a book titled, In His Image. We met for 6 weeks and had various ladies leading the discussion.

• Fall – We began our study on the book of Isaiah. We are using Kathleen Nielsen’s inductive Bible study. We have a group meeting on Tuesday nights; one group on Thursday mornings at the church (with childcare); and one group on Sunday during the Sunday School hour.

• Bible studies will resume the week of January 15th. Every lady is invited to join us at any of the four times offered during the week. Please contact [email protected] or the church office (314-432-8700) if you wish to join!

Congregational Life – Katie Brink and Kathy Collier

• Skill Share Night – There are so many talented ladies in our church family, so we like to learn from each other! There were two skill shares this year. There were two skill share nights this year. We had a Watercolor painting 101 night, where over 30 ladies attended. Carol Kappel did a great job of teaching us some basic skills. We also had Heather Laughlin lead us in a wonderful time of cake decorating. Upcoming Skill Share nights will follow in the Connections on Sunday mornings in the bulletin.

• Spring Luncheon – This year we met at the golf course at Forest Park We enjoyed listening to Katie Polski share what the Lord has taught her over the years about Himself. Her topic was finding joy in the midst of pain and sorrow. In 2020, we have the Spring Luncheon combined with a retreat in St. Charles. All ladies are invited to join!

• Advent Celebration – We heard from our ministry staff and pastors’ wives for a panel this year. We enjoyed hearing parts of their stories and what Jesus has been teaching them this year. We enjoyed fellowship and singing together as well. This event is still one of the favorite traditions every year.

• Ladies Reading Group – Every lady is invited to join. The group reads a variety of genres and meets the last Monday of every month. See the Connections for details.

• Monthly Prayer Time – Every lady is welcome to join on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 11:00-11:30am in the Youth House for a time of prayer. Coming before the Lord in prayer has been a huge place of growth and fellowship with the ladies that attend.

Moms & Tots – Meghan Haynes, Kim Vander Velde, Mandi Choi, Mary Jane Meyer

• Sunday School – Kim Vander Velde and other mentors are leading this class during the Sunday School hour. In the fall, they completed the book Intentional Parenting.

• Moms of Tots Night Out – It is so sweet to connect with other moms within the congregation. We had several get together nights hosted at different homes for food, fellowship, and discussion. Please see the Women’s Ministry Brochure or Connections for more info.

• Fellowship Gatherings – The first Friday and third Tuesday of every month, moms gather for fellowship and bring the tots along to play with other kids in the church. For more information, visit the Moms of Littles Facebook page: facebook.com/groups/790035371032421

• Grief-Processing Counseling – In the fall, Moms of Littles hosted some local professional counselors to come do a workshop on processing grief and also how to help kids process grief.

Communication – Laura Hettinga and Meghan Haynes We want every woman in the church family to feel invited to join and to be informed of activities, etc. We have a Covenant Church Women’s Ministry Facebook page and a Moms of Littles Facebook page. In addition, we use the church website, emails, Women’s Ministry Brochure, weekly Connections, and Evites. We have a new email for women’s ministry needs and questions: [email protected]. Please see our bulletin board outside the fellowship hall for any upcoming dates, events, announcements.

2020 Outlook It is exciting to see the Lord growing the Women’s Ministry here at Covenant. The Women’s Ministry team has chosen three words that we want to grow and learn in for the upcoming year: Abide (in Christ), Pray, and Invite. Christ has made it possible to be in a right relationship with God and with others and the world. That is good news! Contact Mary Bell, Director of Women’s Ministry and Community Life: [email protected] or 314-432-8700.
