The domestic horse population in Korea is less than 30,000 and while 25,000 are located in Jeju, only 2,000 of them are able to have placenta.

The amount of placenta that can be extracted from a horse amounts to a little as 3kg. Since it is hard to figure when the horse will have a baby and because of the mother’s placenta eating habits, placenta extract is very rare.
